GOD LOVES YOU SPECIALLY

MESSAGE BY: Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD

MEMORISE: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”John 3:16

I. THE TWO DIMENSIONS OF DIVINE AFFECTION: GENERAL VS. SPECIAL LOVE

The foundational truth of the Gospel is rooted in the overwhelming love of God for all creation. John 3:16 establishes this universal reality: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son…”

God is inherently Love (1 John 4:8). His love extends to every human being on the planet—regardless of their moral standing, race, gender, or background. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust (Matthew 5:45). While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).

However, a deep examination of Holy Scripture reveals another, more intimate dimension: God loves certain individuals specially!

         v v
[ GENERAL REDEMPTIVE LOVE ] [ SPECIAL INTIMATE LOVE ]
- Universal reach to all men - Personal, affectionate relationship
- Provided redemption in Christ - Recognized & embraced by the recipient
- Objective reality (John 3:16) - Converts recipient into a conduit (1 John 4:16)

Consider the biblical record:

1: King Solomon: When Solomon was born to David and Bathsheba, the Lord sent word through Nathan the prophet and named the child Jedidiah, which means “Beloved of the Lord” (2 Samuel 12:24–25). God singled Solomon out with a special affection before he had accomplished a single work!

2: Apostle John: Among the twelve apostles, John possessed an acute consciousness of Jesus’ personal love for him. He repeatedly referred to himself in his Gospel as “the disciple whom Jesus loved” (John 13:23, John 21:20). John was not being arrogant; he had simply personalized the Master’s affection!

3: The Rich Young Ruler: When this young man approached Jesus asking about eternal life, Mark 10:21 records a poignant detail: “Then Jesus beholding him loved him…”

God wants you to know that you can walk in this same special, intimate love! It is not reserved for a select few in biblical history; it is God’s earnest desire for you today.

II. THE ANATOMY OF SPECIAL LOVE: BECOMING A DIVINE CONDUIT

How do you know when God’s special love has captured your consciousness?

The answer is revealed in 2 Corinthians 13:14: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.”

When you receive the love of God into your spirit, something magnificent happens: the love that is directed toward you begins to flow through you to others!

You cease to be a mere reservoir that holds love; you become an active conduit—a pipeline through which the Father’s liquid love saturates your surrounding environment.

Look at how this principle operated in the life of Solomon:

  • Because the Lord loved Solomon, a deep, divine affection was deposited into his spirit.

  • Solomon, in turn, loved God and loved his people.

  • He did not hoard his wealth or wisdom for personal indulgence alone; his love worked through his leadership to make the entire nation prosperous!

During Solomon’s reign, the prosperity of the king was mirrored in the lives of his citizens. 1 Kings 10:21 notes that silver was considered as common as stones in Jerusalem and was not even valued in the days of Solomon because gold was so exceedingly abundant!

Solomon became God’s hand of blessing to Israel. Because he walked in the light of divine love, poverty was eradicated from his kingdom!

III. BECOMING GOD’S EXTENDED HAND TO YOUR WORLD

When you realize that God loves you specially, your identity shifts completely. You stop praying like a beggar trying to persuade God to care about you. Instead, you step out every day as God’s extended hand of compassion and power to your world!

You become an answer to prayer: When people meet you, they meet the love of God in motion.

You become a solution provider: Your career, business, and ministry become platforms for lifting people out of depression, lack, and limitation.

You become a catalyst for transformation: You love people not because they deserve it, but because the love of God is shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Ghost (Romans 5:5).

As Paul wrote in Ephesians 3:17–19, when you are rooted and grounded in love, you comprehend the vast breadth, length, depth, and height of Christ’s affection.

Knowing this love—which surpasses human intellectual knowledge—fills you with all the fullness of God! You become a walking, talking embodiment of the Godhead!

IV. WALK IN THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF HIS AFFECTION TODAY

Make a deliberate decision right now to live in the consciousness of God’s special love for you. Say to yourself throughout the day: “God loves me specially! I am the beloved of the Lord! I am His extended hand of blessing to my world!”

When you encounter hurting, broken, or impoverished people, do not pass them by with indifference. Let the love of God that dwells richly inside you overflow to them through your kind words, generous giving, prayers, and Gospel witness.

As you yield yourself as a channel of His affection, God will enlarge your capacity, increase your resources, and make your life an unending saga of glory, impact, and divine excellence!

V. PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank You from the depth of my heart for loving me with an everlasting, special love. I live daily in the quiet confidence and bold consciousness of this divine affection. I yield my spirit, mind, and body to You as a pure channel and conduit of Your love to my world. Through me, Your love brings healing to the brokenhearted, prosperity to the destitute, salvation to the lost, and transformation everywhere I go, in the matchless Name of Jesus. Amen.

VI. FURTHER STUDY SUMMARY

Romans 5:8 (KJV): Paul highlights the extraordinary demonstration of divine affection, declaring that God proved His love toward us in that while we were still sinners and enemies, Christ gave His life on the cross for us.

Ephesians 3:17–19 (KJV): Paul prays that Christ may dwell in believers’ hearts by faith, enabling them to be rooted and grounded in love so they can comprehend its infinite dimensions—breadth, length, depth, and height—and know the love of Christ which passes knowledge, resulting in being filled with all the fullness of God.

1 John 4:16 (KJV): Apostle John summarizes the believer’s spiritual experience, affirming that we have known and believed the love that God has for us. Because God is love, whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

VII. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR SUMMARY: ROMANS 3:1–31 & PSALMS 42–44

Romans 3:1–31: Paul addresses the advantages of the Jews, noting that they were entrusted with the holy oracles of God. However, he quickly establishes that all human beings—both Jews and Gentiles—are under the power of sin, quoting extensively from the Old Testament to show that “there is none righteous, no, not one.” He explains that the Law cannot justify anyone; it merely exposes human sinfulness. Paul then unveils the glorious truth of justification by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, whose sacrificial death satisfied divine justice. Salvation is a free gift received through faith, completely excluding human boasting while upholding the true spiritual purpose of the Law.

Psalms 42–44:

  • Psalm 42: A deeply poignant song of longing where the psalmist compares his soul’s thirst for God to a deer panting for streams of water. Amidst mockery and tears, he repeatedly commands his soul: “Why art thou cast down, O my soul?… hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him.”

  • Psalm 43: A continuation of the plea for vindication, where the psalmist asks God to send out His light and truth to lead him back to the altar of God with joyful praise on the harp.

  • Psalm 44: A communal lament recalling God’s historic victories for Israel, contrasted with their present defeat, humiliation, and oppression by enemies. Despite not forgetting God’s covenant, the nation faces severe trial, concluding with an urgent prayer for God to awake, redeem them, and show His steadfast love.

VIII. BIBLE IN TWO YEAR SUMMARY: EPHESIANS 4:1–10 & ISAIAH 48

Ephesians 4:1–10: Paul urges believers to walk worthy of their divine calling with humility, gentleness, patience, and love, making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. He outlines the foundational unities of the faith: one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of all. He explains that spiritual grace is distributed to each believer according to the measure of Christ’s gift, quoting Psalm 68 to show that Christ ascended on high, led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men after first descending into the lower parts of the earth.

Isaiah 48: God addresses Israel, confronting their hypocrisy, hard-heartedness, and stubbornness. He explains that He announced former events long before they happened to prevent them from attributing fulfilled prophecies to carved idols. God declares new, hidden things to keep them humble, refining them in the furnace of affliction for His own name’s sake so His glory is not shared with another. He identifies Himself as the First and the Last, calling His people to leave Babylon with shouting and singing, while warning: “There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.”

IX. PROPHETIC DECREE

I decree and declare that on this Tuesday, July 28, 2026, you walk in the full, unshakeable consciousness that God loves you specially!

Every voice of condemnation, guilt, rejection, and spiritual inferiority is permanently silenced in your life!

I decree that you are a living conduit of divine affection, divine wisdom, and divine prosperity!

As God loved Solomon and made his whole nation wealthy, so does the love of God work through you to eliminate lack, depression, and sorrow in the lives of those around you!

You are God’s extended hand of healing, salvation, and empowerment to your generation!

Everywhere you step today, doors of supernatural favor open unto you, and people encounter the tangible presence and love of God through your words and actions, in the all-conquering Name of Jesus Christ! Amen! Hallelujah!
