Love the Church From Your Heart
SCRIPTURAL MEMORY VERSE: “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.” — Acts 20:28
MESSAGE: Cultivating a Passionate Devotion to the Living Body of Christ
1. The Church as a Dynamic Organism, Not an Organization
When many people think of “the Church,” their minds immediately envision concrete edifices, traditional denominational structures, administrative hierarchies, or weekly religious routines. However, the spiritual reality of the Church is infinitely grander. The Church of Jesus Christ is the most powerful entity in the universe. It is far more than a social club, an institutional corporation, or a humanitarian gathering—it is a spiritual organism.
An organization is constructed by human hands and managed through administrative systems, but an organism is an animated, living entity fueled by divine life. The Church is the literal, physical manifestation of the living Body of Christ on the earth today. Through every born-again believer, Jesus Christ moves, speaks, heals, and expresses His divine nature.
Because the Church is a living entity, your personal posture, mindset, and attitude toward it carry massive spiritual consequences. You cannot claim to honor the Head, Jesus Christ, while despising, criticizing, or neglecting His physical Body. To experience the fullness of God’s grace and authority in your daily life, you must make a conscious, spirit-led decision to love the Church of Jesus Christ deeply and passionately from the very depths of your heart.
2. The Supreme Price: Purchased With His Own Blood
Why is the Church so precious to Almighty God? The Apostle Paul, writing by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in Acts 20:28, reveals the ultimate reason: God “purchased [the Church] with his own blood.”
Consider the gravity of that declaration. The creator of the universe did not acquire the Church with corruptible assets like gold, silver, or human intellect. He paid the highest price in the universe—the sinless, divine blood of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
Every single believer, regardless of their background, maturity level, or current spiritual state, was bought at the ultimate cost. When you understand the magnitude of Calvary, you begin to see fellow believers through the lens of redemption. If Jesus considered the Church worthy of His life, His suffering, and His blood, how can any believer treat the Church with indifference, cynicism, or contempt? To love Christ sincerely is to love everything He paid for. Your love for the Lord is directly measured by your love for His purchased possession—His people.
3. Overcoming Denominational Barriers and Carnal Rivalry
One of the subtle traps set by the adversary to weaken the impact of God’s Kingdom is the spirit of sectarianism and denominational pride. Too often, Christians become preoccupied with organizational names, distinct administrative styles, liturgical traditions, or peripheral doctrines. In doing so, they lose sight of the overarching spiritual truth: we are all one body in Christ.
The local church down the street from you—even if its worship style, leadership structure, or culture differs from your home assembly—is an integral part of God’s global family.

They are covered by the same precious blood.

They are sealed by the same Holy Spirit.

They serve the same Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
We are not competitors in a corporate marketplace striving for larger market shares or larger audiences. We are spiritual allies co-laboring in the harvest fields of the earth. When a spirit of rivalry, jealousy, or theological arrogance enters a believer’s heart, it grieves the Holy Spirit and breeds division.
As Paul instructs in Ephesians 4:4–5, “There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism.” When this truth sinks deep into your consciousness, it purges your heart of malice, judgment, and strife. You begin to rejoice in the victories of other ministries, honor the unique grace resting upon fellow believers, and pray fervently for the success of God’s work everywhere.
4. Experiencing the Anointing of Unity
God places a premium on unity among His children. Psalm 133:1–3 beautifully depicts the spiritual power released when believers dwell together in harmony:
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.”
Notice that God does not merely suggest a blessing where unity exists; He commands it. When you cultivate a genuine love for the Church from your heart, you position yourself directly under the overflow of this commanded blessing. The same divine life, wisdom, and miraculous power that flows through the Head, Jesus Christ, saturates every member connected to the Body in love.
What a glorious privilege it is to belong to the family of God! It is the largest, most powerful, and most enduring family in time and eternity. Earthly nations will crumble, empires will fall, and human institutions will fade, but the Church of Jesus Christ will stand triumphant, glorious, and victorious forever!
PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the divine privilege of making me a vital, functional member of the Body of Christ. I make a conscious commitment today to walk in fervent, unfeigned love for the Church and for every member of Your global family. I completely cast off every spirit of division, judgment, and spiritual pride.
I honor, celebrate, and appreciate Your grace at work in the lives of my brothers and sisters across all nations, denominations, and traditions. I declare that the global Church is growing stronger daily, rooted in faith, walking in unprecedented unity, and continually displaying Your glory to the world, in the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.
