WHAT THE GOSPEL TRULY IS

I. BEYOND RELIGIOUS ASSENT: THE NECESSITY OF GOSPEL UNDERSTANDING

It is entirely possible for a person to believe in Jesus Christ, attend church services regularly, and even identify as a Christian, yet remain completely ignorant of what the Gospel truly is.

This profound reality explains why the Apostle Paul, writing to established, born-again believers in Rome, made an extraordinary declaration in Romans 1:15: “So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.”

Consider that for a moment. These were not heathen idolaters or unregenerate sinners; they were already Christians whose faith was spoken of throughout the entire world. Yet, Paul recognized that they still required the preaching and teaching of the Gospel.

This reveals a critical truth: The Gospel is far more than a simple announcement of Jesus Christ; it is a divine revelation that must be systematically taught and deeply understood.

In our world today, many individuals and religious organizations claim to be preaching the Gospel. However, not everything spoken in the name of Christ or tagged as “Christianity” constitutes the authentic Gospel. The true Gospel possesses:

A Definite Content: The legal and vital realities of what Christ accomplished.

A Definite Power: The kinetic energy of the Holy Spirit to transform human destiny.

A Definite Purpose: To unveil the righteousness of God and establish man in eternal dominion.

Without a accurate understanding of this divine content, your faith will remain superficial, and you will live far below the legal rights secured for you through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

II. THE DYNAMIC ENERGY OF GOD: THE GOSPEL AS POWER

In Romans 1:16, Paul defines the true nature of this message: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth…”

Notice that Paul does not say the Gospel contains the power of God, nor does he say the Gospel talks about the power of God. He declares that the Gospel IS the power of God!

The word translated “power” in this passage is the Greek word dunamis, which refers to dynamic, inherent ability—miracle-working power. The Gospel is God’s omnipotence wrapped up in a message. It is His operational instrument to rescue, heal, preserve, transform, and establish anyone who simply believes it.

If you desire to experience the raw, unhindered power of God in your health, your finances, your mind, and your family, you must immerse yourself in the Gospel. God’s power is not released through human emotionalism, religious tradition, or philosophical rhetoric; His power is exclusively released through the revelation of the Gospel of Christ!

III. THE UNVEILING OF RIGHTEOUSNESS: FROM FAITH TO FAITH

The Apostle Paul goes deeper into the spiritual mechanics of the Gospel in Romans 1:17: “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”

Here lies the masterkey: The Gospel is the exclusive arena where the righteousness of God is unveiled to humanity.

Until a man understands the Gospel, he can never truly comprehend or possess the righteousness of God. Millions of religious people across the globe are striving daily to be right with God. They fast, perform charitable works, observe strict rituals, and try to keep religious rules, all in a desperate attempt to manufacture their own self-righteousness. But human effort can never meet the divine standard.

The Gospel unveils a different kind of righteousness—the righteousness that comes directly from God as a free gift through faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 3:21-22).

• This righteousness is not earned by human good works; it is imparted to your spirit at the new birth.

• This righteousness makes you right with God instantly, without any sense of guilt, inferiority, or condemnation.

• This righteousness gives you absolute boldness in the presence of the Father and establishes your legal authority over Satan, sickness, and the world!

Furthermore, this righteousness is revealed “from faith to faith.” This signifies a progressive, ever-increasing unveiling. As you feed on the Gospel and walk in the light of God’s Word, your consciousness of your righteous identity expands. You move from one level of faith to a higher level of faith, living out the eternal decree: “The just shall live by faith.”

IV. WHAT THE GOSPEL ACCOMPLISHED: LIVING IN THE REALITY

So, what is the Gospel in its absolute fullness?

The Gospel is not merely the historical narrative of Jesus of Nazareth. It is not just telling people that a man named Jesus lived in Galilee, died on a cross, was buried, and rose again.

The true Gospel is the unveiling of what His death, burial, and resurrection accomplished for humanity!

His Death: It was the substitutionary sacrifice where He took your sins, your sicknesses, your poverty, and your spiritual death upon Himself.

His Burial: It was the complete, legal burial of your old, sinful nature and past life.

His Resurrection: It was your simultaneous resurrection into a brand-new type of life—the Zoe life of God—making you a completely new species of being with absolute legal right to stand before God as a son!

This is the glorious message we have been commissioned to preach and demonstrate to the world. It is the announcement of total acquittal, absolute redemption, and divine union with God!

Stop viewing yourself through the lens of human limitation, failure, or religious guilt. Embrace the Gospel of Christ, step into your God-given righteousness, and reign in life as a king through Jesus Christ!

V. PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You from the depth of my heart for the transcendent Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is Your ultimate power unto salvation. I rejoice because my understanding is illuminated to fully comprehend the righteousness that You have gifted to me. I refuse to walk in guilt, condemnation, or self-righteousness. I walk in the supreme consciousness of my righteous identity, operating from faith to faith, and demonstrating Your dominion and glory to my world, in the matchless Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

VI. FURTHER STUDY SUMMARY

Romans 1:16-17 (KJV): Paul declares his complete lack of shame regarding the Gospel of Christ, defining it as the dynamic power of God that guarantees complete salvation to everyone who believes, regardless of cultural background. He explains that within this Gospel, God’s perfect righteousness is continuously revealed from one degree of faith to another, fulfilling the Old Testament prophecy that the righteous shall live by their faith.

Romans 3:21-22 (KJV): The Apostle explains that God’s righteousness has now been revealed completely apart from the Mosaic Law, though the Law and the Prophets previously testified to it. This righteousness is bestowed directly by God through faith in Jesus Christ upon every single person who believes, without any spiritual or racial distinction.

1 Corinthians 1:17-18 (KJV): Paul emphasizes his primary apostolic commission to preach the pure Gospel without relying on human philosophical wisdom, which would render the cross of Christ powerless. He contrasts the two worldviews, noting that while the message of the cross appears as utter foolishness to those who are perishing, to those who are being saved, it is recognized as the literal power of God.

VII. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR SUMMARY: ACTS 26:19–32 & PSALMS 19–20

Acts 26:19–32: Continuing his brilliant defense before King Agrippa and Governor Festus, Paul explains that he was not disobedient to the heavenly vision he received on the Damascus road. He details how he preached repentance to Jew and Gentile alike, testifying that Christ suffered and rose from the dead to proclaim light to all people. Interrupting him, Festus shouts that Paul’s great learning has made him insane. Paul calmly denies this, appealing directly to King Agrippa’s knowledge of the prophets. When Paul asks Agrippa if he believes the prophets, Agrippa famously responds, “Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.” After Paul is led away, Agrippa and Festus confer privately, agreeing that Paul has done nothing worthy of death or imprisonment and could have been set free if he had not appealed to Caesar.

• Psalms 19–20:

  • Psalm 19: A majestic hymn exalting God’s revelation in nature and in His written Word. David describes how the heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament displays His handiwork day and night. He then celebrates the perfect, soul-restoring quality of God’s law, testimonies, and statutes, concluding with the famous prayer: “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.”

  • Psalm 20: A royal prayer asking God to hear, protect, and strengthen the king in the day of trouble. David contrasts the trust of worldly nations who rely on chariots and horses with the posture of God’s people: “But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.”

VIII. BIBLE IN TWO YEAR SUMMARY: GALATIANS 6:1–9 & ISAIAH 40

Galatians 6:1–9: Paul delivers practical instructions on Christian community life, urging spiritual believers to gently restore anyone caught in a fault while watching their own hearts. He commands saints to bear one another’s burdens, thereby fulfilling the law of Christ, while also taking personal responsibility for their own conduct. He instructs those who are taught the Word to share material blessings with their teachers. Paul introduces the unalterable law of harvest: whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap—warning that sowing to the flesh reaps corruption, while sowing to the Spirit reaps life everlasting. He encourages the believers never to grow weary in well-doing, promising a bountiful harvest if they do not give up.

Isaiah 40: A magnificent, comforting chapter marking a major transition in Isaiah’s prophecy. God commands His prophets to speak comfort to Jerusalem, declaring her warfare is accomplished and her sin pardoned. A voice cries in the wilderness to prepare the way of the Lord, making straight highways in the desert. The chapter exalts the absolute sovereignty, majesty, and unmatchable greatness of God, comparing nations to a drop in a bucket and grasshoppers before Him. It concludes with one of the most famous promises in Scripture: those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, mounting up with wings as eagles, running without growing weary, and walking without fainting.

IX. PROPHETIC DECREE

I decree and declare that on this Monday, July 20, 2026, the supernatural power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is activated in every department of your life! Every lie of religious guilt, demonic condemnation, and self-doubt trying to hold you in bondage is completely shattered by the revelation of your righteous identity!

You are not a weak, defeated sinner trying to impress God!

You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, established in absolute perfection, dominion, and authority!

I decree that as you step out today, the dynamic energy of the Holy Spirit goes before you to make every crooked path straight. Sickness cannot stand in your physical body, lack cannot survive in your finances, and failure cannot attach itself to your hands. You are moving from glory to glory, walking from faith to faith, and manifesting the victorious life of Christ everywhere you go, in the all-conquering Name of Jesus Christ! Amen! Hallelujah!
