RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL

THE RAPTURE IS REAL AND IMMINENT

MESSAGE BY: Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD

MEMORISE: ” Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,”1 Corinthians 15:51

I. TRUTH VS. SKEPTICISM: GOD’S WORD STANDS SURE

Welcome to Friday, August 21, 2026. In these landmark times, skepticism and mockery regarding the end times have grown increasingly vocal. Skeptics, secular humanists, and even some within religious circles attempt to dismiss the Rapture as an invention or a outdated fantasy. But does human unbelief change God’s reality? Absolutely not!
Truth is not established by public consensus, popular opinion, or scientific validation; truth is established strictly by the Word of God (John 17:17). Whether men believe it or deny it, the prophetic clock of God is ticking, and the Rapture of the Church will happen exactly as orchestrated, very soon!
The Apostle Paul introduces this event not as a human theory, but as a divine secret now unveiled:
“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”1 Corinthians 15:52
Notice the precision of the Holy Spirit:
The Speed: “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye”—an instant so brief that no mortal instrument can measure it.
The Signal: “At the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound…”—a heavenly summons reserved exclusively for the redeemed.
The Transformation: “The dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”—mortal flesh will be instantly clothed in divine immortality.

II. UNPACKING THE HARPAZO: THE CAUGHT-UP GENERATION

Some argue against the Rapture by claiming, “The word ‘Rapture’ is not found in the English Bible.” While the English word itself is derived from the Latin raptura, the exact biblical term and concept are abundantly clear in the original Greek text of 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17:
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
The Greek word translated as “caught up” is harpazo ($\alpha\rho\pi\alpha\zeta\omega$), which means “to snatch away forcefully,” “to seize with sudden, unstoppable force,” or “to carry off rapidly.”
This is the glorious mechanics of the Rapture! The Lord Himself will descend into the earth’s atmosphere with a shout of triumph, accompanied by the voice of the archangel and the trumpet call of God. Instantly, believers who have died throughout church history will be raised in glorified bodies, and those alive will be snatched away together with them into the clouds to meet the Lord in the air!
Furthermore, Paul offers deep comfort regarding our departed loved ones in Christ:
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.”1 Thessalonians 4:14
Those who died believing in Jesus are not lost to the grave; they are resting in Him, and they will be the first to experience this glorious body transformation!

III. THE BLESSED HOPE: LIVING IN CONTINUOUS READINESS

THE RAPTURE IS REAL AND IMMINENT

The resurrection of believers and the Rapture are foundational pillars of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As Paul argues in 1 Corinthians 15:17–20, if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen, our faith is entirely in vain, and we are still trapped in our sins. But Praise God! Christ is risen, becoming the firstfruits of all who have fallen asleep.
Because He lives and conquered death, our hope is certain, anchored, and unshakeable!
Do not allow yourself to be distracted by lukewarm doctrines, worldly pursuits, or cynical voices. Jesus Christ is not only coming again—He is coming soon!
At any moment:
  • The trumpet will sound.
  • The archangel’s voice will reverberate across the cosmos.
  • The caught-up generation will ascend to meet the King in the air.
This is our “blessed hope” (Titus 2:13). Keep the Rapture continuously in view, purge yourself of every worldly entanglement, live passionately for the Master, and rejoice daily in the absolute certainty of His imminent return!

IV. PRAYER & CONFESSION

Heavenly Father, I thank You from the depth of my spirit for the unshakeable certainty of Your holy Word.
My heart leaps with joy at the revelation of Christ’s imminent return. I refuse to be distracted by the noises, opinions, or anxieties of this world. I set my mind on things above, where Christ sits at Your right hand.
I live daily with expectation, vibrant faith, and absolute readiness, knowing that at any moment, the trumpet will sound and I will be caught up to meet my Lord in the air. I remain steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, expressing Your righteousness and glory today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

V. BIBLE TEXT & FURTHER STUDY

Titus 2:13 (KJV)

“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;”

Spiritual Insight: Expectant anticipation of Christ’s return is not optional for the believer—it is the defining posture of the Church, driving personal purity, holy living, and kingdom focus.

Philippians 3:20-21 (KJV)

“For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: [21] Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.”

Spiritual Insight: Our true citizenship is heavenly. At the Rapture, Christ will exert His supreme power over physical matter, transforming our mortal, corruptible bodies into glorious, immortal bodies like His own.

1 Corinthians 15:17-20 (KJV)

“And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. [18] Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. [19] If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. [20] But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.”

Spiritual Insight: The bodily resurrection of Christ guarantees the ultimate physical resurrection and transformation of every believer, proving that our Christian faith transcends mortal existence.

VI. BIBLE READING PLAN

1-Year Bible Reading Plan

1 Corinthians 6 & Psalms 119:1–112
1 Corinthians 6: Paul rebukes believers for taking personal disputes before ungodly civil courts instead of resolving them within the church family. He lists sins that prevent inheritance in the Kingdom of God, reminding them, “And such were some of you: but ye are washed… sanctified… justified.” Paul addresses sexual immorality, declaring that the believer’s body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, bought with a price, and must be used to glorify God.
Psalms 119:1–112 (Aleph through Nun): The first half of the longest psalm in the Bible, celebrating the majesty, sufficiency, and purity of God’s Word:
Aleph–Gimel: Joy in keeping God’s laws, praying for opened eyes to behold wondrous things out of His Word.
Daleth–Zain: Seeking revival in affliction, choosing the way of truth, and finding comfort in God’s promises.
Teth–Lamed: Declaring that affliction was good because it taught God’s statutes, asserting “For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.”
Mem–Nun: Meditating on God’s precepts for wisdom, proclaiming “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

2-Year Bible Reading Plan

Colossians 1:9–18 & Jeremiah 6
Colossians 1:9–18: Paul prays for the Colossians to be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, walking worthy of the Lord. He presents a breathtaking Christological passage, establishing Jesus as the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation, the creator of all visible and invisible powers, the head of the church, and the preeminent Lord of all things.
Jeremiah 6: God warns Jerusalem of impending destruction from a cruel, northern nation (Babylon) due to her unrepentant rebellion, greed, and spiritual blindness. The prophet laments that false prophets and priests offer superficial healing, declaring “Peace, peace; when there is no peace.” God urges the people to ask for the “old paths” where the good way lies, but they refuse, leaving them rejected like reprobate silver.

VII. PROPHETIC DECREE

I decree and declare that on this Friday, August 21, 2026, your heart is anchored in the absolute truth of God’s Word!
Every spirit of spiritual slumber, lukewarmness, worldly distraction, and end-time skepticism is broken off your life in the Name of Jesus!
Your spiritual garments remain white, clean, and unspotted by the world; you are filled with the Holy Spirit, burning with holy passion, and actively winning souls for the Master!
When the trumpet sounds and the voice of the archangel echoes, you will be caught up in glory, transformed in the twinkling of an eye, and presented blameless before the King of kings, in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ! Amen! Hallelujah!
