THE PHENOMENON OF SALVATION

MESSAGE BY: Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD

MEMORISE: “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”Psalm 27:1

I. BEYOND A TITLE: UNDERSTANDING SALVATION AS A LIVING REALITY

When reading through the Psalms, it is easy to skim over familiar verses without truly digesting the deep, spirit-altering mechanics packed inside them. In Psalm 27:1, King David utters a declaration of profound spiritual warfare and identity: “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

Pay close attention to the specific language used by the psalmist. David did not merely say, “The Lord is my Savior.” To call Him a Savior acknowledges His ability to save, but to declare that the Lord is my salvation elevates the realization to a completely different spiritual dimension!

When you understand that the Lord is your salvation, you realize that salvation is not merely a single event that took place when you confessed the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Salvation is a person, a state of being, and a divine phenomenon that you embody and carry within your human spirit!

[ THE LORD IS MY SALVATION ]

(Carrying the Phenomenon of Salvation in Your Spirit)

                                             \/
                 +---------------------------+---------------------------+

                 v v
   [ PRE-PACKAGED VICTORY ] [ COMPLETE IMMUNITY ]
(Solutions exist before problems appear) (Severed from destruction & fear)

The Hebrew word for salvation here is Yeshu’ah, which encompasses:

  • Deliverance from danger, trouble, and oppression.

  • Health, wholeness, and physical preservation.

  • Prosperity, victory, and total welfare.

When you walk through life with the consciousness that the Lord is your salvation, you realize that you do not go looking for solutions when trouble arises. You carry the solution inside you! The victory was finalized before the challenge ever materialized. You cannot be a victim of circumstances, economic crises, or spiritual attacks, because the very atmosphere of salvation surrounds you everywhere you go!

II. THE ANATOMY OF FEARLESSNESS: WHY FEAR HAS NO LEGAL STANDING

In the second half of Psalm 27:1, David draws an unshakeable conclusion from his revelation: “whom shall I fear? … of whom shall I be afraid?”

Fear is not merely a natural emotion; it is a spiritual force. 2 Timothy 1:7 clearly tells us: “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Fear is the dark currency of the kingdom of darkness, whereas faith is the currency of the Kingdom of God.

Throughout the Scriptures, the most frequent command given by God to His people is “Fear not!” Why does God place such a heavy emphasis on rejecting fear? Because fear acts as a magnet for demonic activity. Job testified to this principle when he said, “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me” (Job 3:25).

When you allow fear to enter your heart, you mix it with your faith, neutralizing your spiritual authority. But when you anchor your consciousness on the fact that the Alpha and Omega—the Beginning and the End (Revelation 1:8)—indwells you, fear becomes totally illogical!

Why should you be terrified of human threats, economic collapse, or physical sickness when the Creator of the universe is the defense tower of your life?

Consider what Hebrews 7:25 says about the Lord Jesus: “…he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.”

To save “to the uttermost” means His saving power has no end, no limit, and no boundary. It reaches into the deepest pit, breaks the toughest chain, and overrules every demonic decree.

III. SEVERED FROM PERISHING: THE DECREE OF EVERLASTING LIFE

Perhaps someone is trying to terrorize you today. Perhaps you are facing pressure on your job, threats to your family, or symptoms in your physical body. The Word of God instructs you to remain completely unperturbed!

Why? Because there is an ancient, unalterable legal decree in place regarding your life:

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”John 3:16

Look at that promise closely: you are severed from perishing!

To perish means to be ruined, destroyed, worn out, or overcome by evil. By virtue of your faith in Jesus Christ, you have been permanently separated from the category of things that perish. You have been brought into Zoe—the uncreated, indestructible, eternal life of God.

                                 [ JOHN 3:16 LEGAL DECREE ]

                   +-------------------------+-------------------------+

                   v v
[ SEVERED FROM PERISHING ] [ POSSESSING ZOE LIFE ]
(Immune to ruin, decay, & destruction) (Divided unto eternal victory)

This realization ought to put a spring in your step and a song of praise in your heart every morning! You are not an ordinary person fighting for survival. You are a new creation in Christ, established in victory, shielded by divine light, and fortified by the power of an endless life!

IV. WALKING IN THE PHENOMENON

Beloved, stop looking at your challenges as obstacles that might destroy you. Look at them as opportunities for the salvation residing within your spirit to be manifested!

When you step into a boardroom, a hospital room, a courtroom, or a family crisis, step in with the bold assurance that the answer has arrived. You are a carrier of the phenomenon of salvation. Walk with your head held high, speak the Word with absolute confidence, refuse to entertain a single thought of fear, and watch the Lord manifest His glorious salvation in and through you today!

V. PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for being my absolute light, my strength, and my salvation. I walk in the continuous consciousness of this glorious reality, knowing that I carry the divine answer within my spirit long before any challenge appears. Fear has no place, no legal standing, and no power in my life, for my future is securely hidden in Christ. I live in absolute, unshakeable victory, bold, preserved, and established in Your everlasting salvation, in the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.

VI. FURTHER STUDY SUMMARY

Isaiah 12:2 (KJV): The prophet Isaiah proclaims complete trust in God as his personal salvation, declaring that because the Lord Jehovah is his strength and song, he will not give in to fear, having experienced God’s saving power firsthand.

2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV): Paul reminds Timothy that God has never given believers a spirit of fear or cowardice, but has instead endowed us with a spirit of dynamic power, overflowing love, and a disciplined, sound mind.

Psalm 118:14 (KJV): David reiterates that his true defense, energy, and joy do not come from human alliances or military strength, but from the Lord, who has personally become his victory and salvation.

VII. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR SUMMARY: ACTS 27:27–44 & PSALMS 23–25

Acts 27:27–44: On the fourteenth night of being tossed about in the Adriatic Sea, the sailors sense they are approaching land and drop four anchors from the stern, praying for daylight. When the sailors try to abandon ship under the pretense of lowering bow anchors, Paul alerts the centurion, and the soldiers cut the lifeboat ropes. At dawn, Paul urges all 276 people on board to eat, breaking bread and giving thanks to God in front of them all. When daylight arrives, they spot a bay with a beach and attempt to run the ship aground. The vessel strikes a sandbar and breaks apart under the pounding waves, but the centurion orders everyone who can swim to jump overboard, while the rest cling to planks and pieces of the ship. Miraculously, every single soul makes it safely to land, exactly as God had promised Paul.

Psalms 23–25:

Psalm 23: David’s beloved song depicting the Lord as a faithful Shepherd who provides green pastures, still waters, and restored strength. Even when walking through the valley of the shadow of death, David fears no evil, confident that God’s rod and staff comfort him, culminating in a overflowing cup and goodness and mercy following him all his days.

Psalm 24: A majestic psalm celebrating the Lord’s ownership of the earth and everything in it. David asks who may ascend the hill of the Lord, answering that it is he who has clean hands and a pure heart. The psalm concludes with a triumphant call for the ancient gates to lift up their heads so that the King of glory—strong, mighty in battle, and Lord of hosts—may enter.

Psalm 25: A psalm of David seeking divine guidance, pardon, and protection. He asks the Lord to teach him His paths, remember His tender mercies, and pardon his sins, declaring that the secret of the Lord is revealed to those who fear Him.

VIII. BIBLE IN TWO YEAR SUMMARY: EPHESIANS 1:1–14 & ISAIAH 42

Ephesians 1:1–14: Paul opens his letter to the church at Ephesus with a profound doxology praising God for blessing believers with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ. He outlines the eternal decree of election and predestination, explaining that God chose us before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless. Through the precious blood of Jesus, we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins, and an inheritance according to the divine purpose. Paul emphasizes that believers who trusted in Christ were sealed with the Promised Holy Spirit, who serves as the guarantee and down payment of our full redemption until God’s purchased possession is fully realized.

Isaiah 42: A powerful prophetic chapter introducing the Lord’s Messiah as the “Servant” in whom God delights, anointed with the Spirit to bring justice to the nations without screaming or crushing a bruised reed. God promises to hold His Servant’s hand and make Him a covenant for the people and a light to the Gentiles, opening blind eyes and freeing prisoners from dungeons. The chapter transitions into a song of global praise to the Lord, who marches forth like a mighty warrior, while rebuking Israel for their past spiritual blindness and deafness that led them into plunder and captivity.

IX. PROPHETIC DECREE

I decree and declare that on this Wednesday, July 22, 2026, the divine reality that the Lord is your salvation saturates your spirit, soul, and body! Every spirit of fear, anxiety, and panic trying to paralyze your mind is permanently cast out by the light of God’s Word!

You will not fear what the world fears!

I decree that you walk through this day as a carrier of divine solutions. Before any dilemma or challenge arises in your family, career, or health, the pre-packaged victory of God is already manifested on your behalf!

Every demonic trap set to bring you down is completely destroyed because you are severed from perishing and established in everlasting life. You walk in divine immunity, supernatural strength, sound mind, and unshakeable confidence, in the all-conquering Name of Jesus Christ! Amen! Hallelujah!
