OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL
SUSTAINING YOUR FREEDOM, PART 1
MESSAGE BY: Pastor E. A. Adeboye
MEMORISE: “I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.” — Psalm 9:2
I. THE VACUUM DANGER: THE SPIRITUAL MECHANICS OF REBOUND BONDAGE
Over the past few days, we meticulously explored the non-negotiable steps to obtaining total freedom from Satan’s oppressive yokes: admitting your need for help, possessing an uncompromised willingness to be made whole, and lifting a passionate, unyielding cry to God in prayer. However, receiving your deliverance is only the first phase of spiritual warfare.
The real challenge lies in sustaining your freedom once the chains have fallen off.
Many believers naively assume that once a miracle occurs, the devil packs his bags and leaves permanently. But the realm of the spirit operates on precise laws. When God hears the desperate cry of the oppressed and breaks the enemy’s yoke—just as He did for the Israelites under Egyptian slavery (Exodus 3:7-9)—the ousted taskmaster does not simply surrender. He lurks in the shadows, waiting for a spiritual loophole to enforce re-enslavement.
Our Lord Jesus Christ revealed this sober reality in Matthew 12:43-45:
“When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.”

[ WORSE STATE OF REBOUND BONDAGE ]
Notice the critical trigger for the enemy’s return: he found the house empty.
It was clean, swept, and organized, but it lacked a permanent, dominant, fire-filled presence! When a person experiences a breakthrough, healing, or deliverance, but fails to occupy their spiritual atmosphere with active, continuous spiritual weapons, they leave a spiritual vacuum. The former tormentor gathers reinforcement and returns with aggressive fury.
I pray for you today: in any area where the enemy is planning a counter-attack to make your latter end worse than your beginning, the fire of the Almighty God will consume his plans to ashes, in the mighty Name of Jesus!
II. THE ANATOMY OF CONTINUOUS PRAISE: UNABASHED GRATITUDE
What then is the primary weapon required to fill your spiritual house, keep the taskmaster at bay, and ensure that a lifted burden never returns?
It is the weapon of continuous, uninhibled praise.
When a captive is set free, their immediate responsibility is to establish an altar of aggressive, joyful thanksgiving. Consider the dramatic incident in Acts 3:1-8. A certain man who had been paralyzed from his mother’s womb was laid daily at the Beautiful Gate of the temple to beg for alms. He had suffered under the burden of stagnation, physical dependency, and economic embarrassment for over forty years (Acts 4:22).
For four decades, this man watched others walk into the temple to worship, while he remained stuck on the outside, carried around like baggage. He must have whispered in his heart countless times, “Lord, if only I had working legs, I wouldn’t just walk into Your temple—I would leap, dance, and shout Your praises!”
The moment God visited him through Peter and John, divine strength flooded his ankles. He didn’t just stand up cautiously; he began walking, leaping, and praising God!
He entered the temple courtyard unashamed, completely unconcerned about the dignified religious spectators watching him. His joy was wild, raw, and unvarnished because he knew the depth of the pit from which he had been rescued!
His public praise sealed his deliverance, shutting the door against any demonic attempt to re-establish paralysis in his body.
Has the Lord been good to you? Has He broken a generational curse, healed your body, restored your family, or cleared your debts? Do not become quiet or “dignified” in your thanksgiving! Fill your home, your workplace, and your private devotions with exuberant praise.
III. PRAISE AS A WEAPON OF EXECUTION: PSALM 149 UNPACKED
Praise is not merely a warm emotional response to a good deed; it is a high-level weapon of spiritual warfare designed to execute judgment on demonic forces.
In today’s Bible reading (Psalm 149:1-9), the Holy Spirit unveils the hidden, tactical power of praise:
Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand; To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people; To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints.” — Psalm 149:6-9

[ EXECUTION OF WRITTEN JUDGMENT ]
- Binds demonic kings with chains
- Restricts spiritual nobles with iron
- Enforces permanent freedom
Look at that profound spiritual mechanism! When high praises fill your mouth while the two-edged sword of God’s Word is in your spirit, an execution order is issued in the heavenly realms.
-
The “kings” and “nobles” mentioned here are not earthly royalty; they represent territorial demonic principalities, powers, and rulers of darkness that enforce yokes of captivity.
-
Your high praise acts as spiritual handcuffs (fetters of iron) that bind these demonic strongmen, preventing them from returning to re-occupy your life.
-
Praise does not ask God to write a new judgment; it executes the judgment already written by Christ’s victory on the Cross!
When you sing aloud upon your bed (Psalm 149:5), dance with musical instruments, and declare God’s greatness, you construct an impenetrable fortress of light around your life. Demonic spirits cannot tolerate the atmosphere of high praise; it tormentingly burns their presence and forces them into total retreat!
IV. ENFORCING YOUR PERMANENT VICTORY
Beloved, do not let your deliverance decay into spiritual passivity. If God has delivered you from sickness, do not wait for symptoms to reappear before you open your mouth; praise Him daily for divine health! If He has delivered you from financial lack, praise Him continually as your Jehovah Jireh!
Refuse to let the devil find your spiritual house empty.
-
Keep your heart overflowing with raw gratitude.
-
Sing new songs of victory in your personal quiet time.
-
Let the high praises of God echo through your lips day and night.
As you yield your mouth to high praises and your spirit to the Word of God, every Egyptian taskmaster attempting to pursue you into your new season will be permanently buried under the red sea of God’s glory!
V. KEY POINT
High praise is not a passive song; it is a lethal spiritual weapon that executes written judgment on demonic taskmasters and permanently secures your freedom.
VI. BIBLE TEXT SUMMARY: PSALM 149:1-9
The psalmist calls upon the congregation of saints to praise the Lord with a new song, rejoicing in their Creator and King through music, dancing, timbrels, and harps. He highlights that God takes pleasure in His people and beautifies the humble with salvation. The passage transitions into spiritual warfare, calling the saints to sing aloud even on their beds, keeping the high praises of God in their mouths and a two-edged sword in their hands. This dual force executes vengeance on spiritual enemies, binds demonic kings with chains and nobles with iron fetters, and carries out the written judgment guaranteed to all His saints.
VII. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR SUMMARY: ISAIAH 32–34
Isaiah 32: Isaiah foretells the reign of a righteous King and just princes, under whose rule men will serve as shelters from the wind and streams of water in a dry land. The spiritual blindness and deafness of the nation will be healed, and fools will no longer be called noble. The prophet issues a stern warning to complacent women, cautioning that their ease will be shaken when the grape harvest fails. However, this desolation will last only until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, turning the wilderness into a fruitful field and bringing quietness, confidence, and peace forever.
Isaiah 33: A woe is declared against the treacherous destroyer (Assyria) who has not yet been destroyed. As the people pray for God’s grace and salvation in times of trouble, the Lord arises in His majesty. The sinners in Zion tremble, asking who can dwell with consuming fire, to which God answers: he who walks righteously, speaks uprightly, and shuts his eyes from considering evil. The chapter concludes with a glorious vision of Jerusalem as a quiet, secure habitation whose judge, lawgiver, and king is the Lord Himself, guaranteeing that no inhabitant will say, “I am sick.”
Isaiah 34: A dramatic, apocalyptic decree of cosmic judgment against all nations and their armies, specifically singling out Edom. The heavens are rolled up like a scroll, and the mountains melt with blood as the Lord’s sword is bathed in heaven and brought down upon Bozrah in a great slaughter. The land is transformed into pitch, brimstone, and burning streams that will not be quenched day or night, becoming a perpetual wasteland inhabited only by wild desert creatures, owls, and ravens.
VIII. HYMNAL 18: PRAISE TO THE LORD, THE ALMIGHTY, THE KING OF CREATION
1. Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation!
All ye who hear, brothers and sisters draw near,
Praise Him in glad adoration.
2. Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee;
Surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee;
Ponder anew what the Almighty can do,
If with His love He befriend thee.
3. Praise to the Lord, who, when tempests their warfare are waging,
Who, when the elements madly around thee are ranging,
Biddeth them cease, turneth their fury to peace,
Whirlwinds and waters assuaging.
4. Praise to the Lord, who, when darkness and sin is abounding,
Who, when the godless do triumph, all virtue confounding,
Sheddeth His light, chaseth the horrors of night,
Saints with His mercy surrounding.
5. Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore Him!
All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before Him!
Let the Amen sound from His people again;
Gladly for aye we adore Him.
IX. PROPHETIC DECREE
I decree and declare that on this Thursday, July 23, 2026, every demonic plot to enforce a rebound of sickness, failure, poverty, or spiritual oppression in your life is permanently aborted by the fire of the Holy Ghost! Your spiritual house will never be found empty, cold, or dry!
I release the garment of praise upon your spirit right now, casting out every heavy spirit of depression, silence, and passivity!
As the high praises of God fill your mouth today, I decree that spiritual chains and iron fetters bind every strongman pursuing your destiny!
The written judgment of Christ’s victory is executed against every ancestral taskmaster trying to re-enslave your family. You will walk, leap, and praise your way into permanent liberty, overflowing joy, unshakeable health, and divine abundance, in the all-conquering Name of Jesus Christ! Amen! Hallelujah!
