I. THE CARETAKER MANIFESTO: CONFRONTING THE ERROR OF PROPRIETARY CLAIMS
On this beautifully ordered Wednesday morning, June 17, 2026, the Holy Spirit confronts an architectural flaw in how families are structured across the body of Christ. Many biological and foster parents treat their offspring with an attitude of complete ownership, imposing personal ambitions, emotional projections, and secular formulas onto their lives. But the unalterable truth from the laboratory of heaven is clear: parents do not own their children; they are merely temporary, divine caretakers.
Pastor Adeboye shares a striking, deeply vulnerable experience from his early years in ministry to illustrate this severe boundary line. When his children were still very small, one of them fell terribly ill. Having already established Jesus Christ as the Great Physician of his household, the family’s standard protocol was simple: pray a prayer of faith and watch God execute supernatural healing.
However, in this specific instance, despite hours of intense prayer, worship, and deploying every spiritual dynamic he knew, the child’s health continued to decline. In deep frustration, he cried out, “Lord, why have You refused to heal my son?”
The response from the Lord was sharp and instantaneous: “He is your son; why don’t you heal him yourself?”
The man of God immediately saw his theological mistake. He repented, shifting the identity coordinates of the boy by saying, “I’m sorry, Lord, he is Your son; please heal Your son.” Within a single hour, the boy was completely restored, back on his feet, and playing joyfully around the house. The miracle was locked until the claim of ownership was broken.
II. THE JUDGES DECREE: REPRODUCING THE SAMSON PROTOCOL
This exact principle of custody is woven throughout today’s Bible reading in Judges 13:6–14. When a supernatural angelic messenger manifested to Manoah’s barren wife to announce that she would conceive and bear a son who would begin the deliverance of Israel, she immediately related the message to her husband.
Notice Manoah’s immediate, brilliant reaction: he did not begin to celebrate his own virility or plan a self-centered career path for the unborn child. Instead, he went to his knees and begged the Lord to let the messenger return with a very specific blueprint:
“Now let thy words come to pass. How shall we order the child, and how shall we do unto him?” — (Judges 13:12)
Manoah recognized his human limitation. He understood that because the child was a gift from the Almighty, he did not possess the intellectual capacity to safely navigate the boy’s destiny without a heavenly instruction manual. The angel returned and laid down precise dietary, lifestyle, and spiritual boundaries—including total abstinence from wine, strong drink, and unclean things—that the mother had to observe even during pregnancy.
III. THE MATRICULATED SEED: ABANDONING SENSORY-DRIVEN COMPARISONS
If you are to successfully raise children who will dominate the marketplace, command spiritual authority, and remain uncorrupted by the godless Kosmos system, you must stop leaning on your own human understanding.
THE DANGER OF PEER-DRIVEN PARENTING
It is an absolute failure of kingdom stewardship to raise your children the exact way your neighbors, colleagues, or popular secular culture are raising theirs. God does not manufacture children in bulk; He creates them as unique, custom-designed assignments, and each assignment comes with its own customized instructions.
Consistently bring the children in your custody before the throne of grace. Ask the Lord to show you the precise spiritual wiring, the behavioral guardrails, and the prophetic destiny of every seed in your home. When you step back from ownership and allow God to guide the process, He will effortlessly supply the wisdom, protection, and resources required to ensure they fully maximize his purpose on earth.
IV. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A
Q1: What should a parent do if their child is already grown up and walking in open rebellion against God due to past parenting mistakes?
Answer: Take comfort in the law of substitutionary intercession. The moment you realize your past errors, go to God in deep repentance, break your personal emotional claims over that child, and hand them back over to the true Owner. Begin to declare: “Lord, this is Your child. I step out of the way. Arrest them by Your Spirit just like You arrested Saul on the road to Damascus.” God knows exactly how to track down His property, even in the furthest corners of rebellion.
Q2: Does asking God “how to order the child” mean we shouldn’t discipline them or put our foot down when they do wrong?
Answer: Absolutely not. Part of God’s customized instruction manual (Scripture) includes firm, loving discipline. Proverbs 22:6 commands us to train up a child in the way he should go. True caretaker stewardship means you correct them not out of human anger or emotional frustration, but based on the standards of the Word of God, teaching them accountability to their heavenly Father.
Q3: How do I handle a situation where my child’s natural talents and divine calling completely contradict my financial plans or expectations for them?
Answer: You must completely surrender your expectations. If Manoah had forced Samson to become a quiet merchant or an academic just to protect him, Israel’s deliverance would have been aborted. Your job is not to choose their career; your job is to help them discover what God has already written in their heavenly books. True wealth and fulfillment for that child will only manifest when they are aligned with their customized calling.

Oh Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the True and Eternal Father of all spirits! I stand before You on this Wednesday morning, June 17, 2026, repenting of every area where I have treated the children in my care with the pride of personal ownership. I strip myself of every proprietary claim over their lives.
I declare that my children belong entirely to You—they are Your heritage and Your reward. Grant me the precise, customized wisdom, supernatural discernment, and patience required to order them according to Your sovereign design. Protect them from the toxic currents of this world, preserve them in holiness, and let every single seed in my household grow up to completely fulfill their divine purpose on earth, in the mighty, matchless Name of Jesus Christ, Amen!

I decree and declare that every demonic arrow of untimely death, moral degeneracy, and mental blindness targeted at the children of your household is shattered to pieces by the thunder of the Holy Ghost! I break the grip of peer pressure and the corrupt philosophies of this age over your lineage. Your children will never become casualties of the world-system, nor will they serve the appetites of the flesh!
I decree that your home is supernaturally insulated with the blood of the covenant. Wisdom to navigate unique behavioral challenges is flooded into your mind right now. Your sons shall be as plants grown up in their youth, your daughters shall be as corner stones polished after the similitude of a palace, and your entire household will manifest the undisputed holiness, vitality, and structural excellence of the New Creation throughout this day, in the mighty, triumphant, and matchless name of Jesus Christ!
