FEAR GOD II

MESSAGE BY: Pastor E. A. Adeboye

MEMORISE: ” The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”Proverbs 1:7

I. UNLOCKING THE SECRET VAULTS OF HEAVEN

Welcome to Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Yesterday, we examined how walking in the fear of God guarantees multi-generational wealth, invincible protection, and divine deliverance. Today, we delve deeper into another extraordinary advantage of holy fear: gaining direct access to the hidden secrets of God’s heart.
The Holy Spirit makes a profound revelation in Psalm 25:14:
The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.”
Human nature dictates that we only confide our deepest confidences, personal plans, and valuable secrets to individuals we trust implicitly—those who respect us, honor our word, and cherish our values. God operates by the very same principle! He does not entrust His divine secrets, spiritual strategies, or prophetic insights to the careless, the irreverent, or the double-minded. He reserves them exclusively for those who fear Him.
Consider the patriarch Abraham. In Genesis 18:17, when God was about to execute judgment upon Sodom and Gomorrah, the Almighty paused and said:
“Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do;”
Why did God refuse to keep secrets from Abraham? Because Abraham feared God, honored His covenant, and was trusted to instruct his household in the ways of righteousness. When you walk in holy fear, God treats you as a trusted confidant, pulling back the veil to reveal His divine plans to you before they manifest on earth.

II. THE DANIEL EXAMPLE: CONVICTION, PURITY, AND SUPERNATURAL ELEVATION

Another radiant example of how the fear of God unlocks divine knowledge is found in the life of Daniel. As recorded in Daniel 1:8–20, Daniel was ripped away from his homeland as a young captive and taken to pagan Babylon. He was exposed to intense pressure to assimilate into a godless culture, starting with eating food and drinking wine offered to idols.
Yet, Daniel made a uncompromising choice:
“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank…”Daniel 1:8
This was not a mere dietary preference; it was an act of profound spiritual reverence. Daniel feared God more than he feared the anger of King Nebuchadnezzar or the pressure of his peers. He risked his standing, his promotion, and even his life to remain clean before the Almighty.
Look at the extraordinary return on Daniel’s holy fear:
Supernatural Favor: God brought Daniel into immediate favor and tender love with the chief of the eunuchs (Daniel 1:9).
Physical and Mental Distinction: After a 10-day test eating pulse and water, Daniel and his three friends appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all who consumed the royal delicacies (Daniel 1:15).
Ten Times Better: When evaluated by King Nebuchadnezzar in all matters of wisdom and understanding, they were found ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers in the realm (Daniel 1:20)!

III. ACCESSING THE TREASURES OF DARKNESS

When you cultivate a lifestyle of honoring God in your private thoughts, public decisions, and daily choices, you place yourself in the direct pathway of divine illumination.
As promised in Isaiah 45:3:
“And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.”
Worldly education, intellect, and raw talent can only take a person so far. But spiritual insight—the kind that solves unsolvable problems, foresees future trends, and invents groundbreaking solutions—is a gift bestowed upon those who revere the Lord.
Proverbs 1:7 reminds us that the fear of the Lord is the very beginning of true knowledge. Without holy reverence, human intelligence easily degenerates into pride, folly, and ultimate destruction. Choose today to honor God in everything you do, and watch Him open the floodgates of divine wisdom over your life!

IV. TWELVE POWERFUL PRAYER POINTS

Pray these prayer points with spiritual intensity, asking God for uncommon wisdom and insight:
1: Thanksgiving for Divine Illumination: Heavenly Father, I thank You for the privilege of accessing Your Word and the secrets of Your heart through the Holy Spirit.
2: Grace to Purpose in My Heart: Lord, grant me the courage of Daniel to purpose in my heart never to defile myself with the worldly compromises of this generation!
3: Baptism of Holy Reverence: Father, let the spirit of the fear of the Lord rest heavily upon me, governing my thoughts, actions, secret life, and public decisions.
4: Access to Divine Secrets: According to Psalm 25:14, Lord, share Your divine secrets with me; show me Your covenant and unveil hidden strategies for my life, family, and assignment!
5: Anointing for Ten-Times Excellence: Father, just as You did for Daniel and his companions, make me ten times better in wisdom, understanding, and skill than my earthly peers!
6: Impartation of Spiritual Discernment: Lord, give me deep understanding in visions, dreams, and spiritual matters; let me never be confused or misled by the deceptions of the enemy.
7: Unlocking Hidden Riches: Father, fulfill Isaiah 45:3 in my life; give me the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places to expand Your Kingdom!
8: Divine Favor with Authorities: Lord, grant me supernatural favor in the sight of kings, employers, leaders, and decision-makers, just as You gave Daniel favor in Babylon.
9: Deliverance from Folly: Every trace of spiritual arrogance, foolishness, and resistance to godly instruction, be purged from my life by the fire of the Holy Ghost!
10: Boldness to Stand for Righteousness: Father, give me the unwavering strength to stand out for You in godless environments, even when I am the only one standing.
11: Empowerment for Problem Solving: Lord, make me a solutions-provider in my generation; let Your wisdom in me untangle complex crises in my industry, ministry, and nation.
12: Personal Requests for Kingdom Insight: [Present your specific decisions, career dilemmas, or family needs to God, asking for clear divine guidance and direction.]

V. BIBLE TEXT SUMMARY & FURTHER STUDY

Bible Text Summary: Daniel 1:8–20

Daniel resolves not to defile himself with the Babylonian king’s food and wine, appealing to the prince of the eunuchs for alternative meals. Though the official fears execution if the Jewish youths appear unhealthy, Daniel proposes a 10-day test eating pulse (vegetables) and water. God grants Daniel favor, and at the end of the test, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah appear healthier and better nourished than those eating the king’s meat. God grants all four youths extraordinary knowledge, skill, learning, and wisdom, while giving Daniel special insight into visions and dreams. When examined by King Nebuchadnezzar, he finds them ten times superior to all the magicians and astrologers in his realm, establishing them in royal service.

VI. BIBLE READING PLAN

1-Year Bible Reading Plan

Ezekiel 9–12
Ezekiel 9: God calls six executioners with destroying weapons and one man clothed in linen with a writer’s inkhorn. The man in linen is commanded to put a mark on the foreheads of all who sigh and cry over Jerusalem’s abominations. The executioners are then ordered to slay everyone without the mark, starting at the sanctuary with the ancient men.
Ezekiel 10: The glory of the Lord departs from the threshold of the temple and moves above the cherubim. Ezekiel describes the terrifying vision of the cherubim, their wheels within wheels full of eyes, and the man in linen taking coals of fire from between the cherubim to scatter over Jerusalem.
Ezekiel 11: Ezekiel prophesies against twenty-five corrupt leaders of Judah who offer false security to the people. Jaazaniah and Pelatiah are exposed, and Pelatiah dies as Ezekiel speaks. God promises that while He scattered Israel among the countries, He will gather a remnant, give them a new heart, and put a new spirit within them, taking away their stony heart. The glory of the Lord leaves Jerusalem completely.
Ezekiel 12: God commands Ezekiel to pack an exile’s bag and dig through the wall in broad daylight as a prophetic sign of King Zedekiah’s secret flight and capture by Babylon. God addresses a skeptical proverb in Israel (“The days are prolonged, and every vision faileth”), declaring that every vision will be fulfilled without delay.

VII. HYMN 23: ALL TO JESUS I SURRENDER

All to Jesus I surrender,
All to Him I freely give;

I will ever love and trust Him,

In His presence daily live.

Chorus:

I surrender all,

I surrender all;

All to Thee, my blessed Savior,

I surrender all.

All to Jesus I surrender,

Humbly at His feet I bow;

Worldly pleasures all forsaken,

Take me, Jesus, take me now.

(Chorus)

All to Jesus I surrender,

Lord, I give myself to Thee;

Fill me with Thy love and power,

Let Thy blessing fall on me.

(Chorus)

All to Jesus I surrender,

Now I feel the sacred flame;

O the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory to His Name!
(Chorus)
