THREE IMPORTANT PROVISIONS FOR LIFE’S JOURNEY

MESSAGE BY: Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD

MEMORISE: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen”2 Corinthians 13:14

I. BEYOND A TRADITIONAL BENEDICTION: UNLOCKING HEAVEN’S TRIO

For generations, millions of Christians across the globe have uttered the words of 2 Corinthians 13:14 at the end of church services, prayer meetings, and fellowship gatherings. Regrettably, to many, it has degenerated into a mere routine—a religious signal that it is time to pack up Bibles, say goodbye to friends, and go home.

However, this verse is not just a closing ritual; it is a master divine decree packed with three indispensable spiritual provisions engineered for your earthly journey!

When the Apostle Paul closed his second epistle to the Corinthian church with these words, he was releasing a heavy spiritual formula. Any Christian, anywhere on earth—regardless of economic inflation, political chaos, geographic location, or personal background—who understands and actively walks in the consciousness of these three key provisions will live in perpetual, unbroken triumph over every adversity!

         | | |
         v v v
[ THE GRACE OF JESUS ] [ THE LOVE OF GOD ] [ THE COMMUNION OF THE SPIRIT ]
- Revealer of God's heart - Eternal, liquid affection - Active, indwelling partner
- Reality over law - Unconditional security - Your maximum advantage

God never intended for you to navigate the complexities, trials, and demands of this world using human ingenuity, natural connections, or sheer willpower. He outfitted you with a supernatural tripartite armor: Grace, Love, and Communion.

Let us carefully examine the profound mechanics of each of these three divine blessings.

II. PROVISION #1: THE GRACE OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

The first key provision released in this benediction is the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.

To fully grasp the magnitude of this grace, we must examine the fundamental shift that occurred when Jesus stepped onto the earthly scene. The Spirit reveals in John 1:17: “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”

Under the Old Testament dispensation, the law was handed down through Moses. While the Old Testament prophets brought God’s decrees, messages, and laws, they could not express the true, warm, intimate character of our Heavenly Father. The Law emphasized rules, boundaries, and severe judgments, instilling a sense of fear, distance, and inadequacy in the hearts of men. People knew God as the Almighty, the Judge, and a consuming fire, but they did not know Him as a loving Father.

[ THE LAW OF MOSES ] [ THE GRACE OF JESUS ]
      - Demanded righteousness - Imparts righteousness
      - Exposed human weakness - Supplies divine capacity
      - Instilled fear & distance - Unveils Fatherly intimacy
      - Brought shadow & types - Brought Truth (Spiritual Reality)

Then Jesus came! He did not merely talk about God’s character; He embodied it. When Philip asked Him in John 14:8, “Lord, show us the Father,” Jesus boldly replied in verse 9, “…he that hath seen me hath seen the Father!”

Jesus came to express the true heart, person, and reality of the Godhead:

  • Where the Law condemned, Jesus offered divine acceptance.

  • Where the Law demanded what man could not produce, Grace freely imparted divine capacity, favor, and righteousness!

To walk in the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ means walking with the unshakeable consciousness that you are surrounded by divine favor, spiritual enablement, and unmerited advantage every single day of your life!

III. PROVISION #2: THE LOVE OF GOD

The second provision embedded in our opening scripture is the love of God.

God desires for every believer to walk continuously in the bright light of His boundless love. However, we must understand that the love of God (Agape) is entirely different from human affection. It is not comparable to a mother’s natural devotion, a spouse’s affection, or a friend’s loyalty.

The love of God is a divine, transcendent, liquid reality that flows eternally without condition or boundary!

In Romans 5:5, the Bible unveils how this love becomes a functional reality in our personal lives: “And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”

                            [ THE AGAPE EXPERIENCE ]
                                       ||
(Shed Abroad in the Human Spirit)
                                       ||
                                       \/
                   +-------------------+-------------------+
                   | |
                   v v
[ TOTAL IDENTITY SECURITY ] [ FREEDOM FROM FEAR ]
(Anchored in unconditional acceptance) (Perfect love casts out torment)

When you truly comprehend how deeply, unconditionally, and irrevocably the Father loves you, fear loses its grip on your soul!

You stop living like a spiritual orphan trying to prove your worth to God. You begin operating as a secure child of royalty, confident that the Creator of the universe is working all things together for your ultimate good (Romans 8:28).

This love anchors your soul during severe storms, reminding you that if God did not spare His own Son, He will freely give you all things (Romans 8:32)!

IV. PROVISION #3: THE COMMUNION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The third provision—and one that is absolutely vital for your daily life on earth—is the communion of the Holy Ghost.

Why is this communion so essential? Consider the divine layout:

  • The Father is enthroned in Heaven.

  • The Lord Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father in Glory.

  • The Holy Spirit is right here on earth, residing inside your human spirit!

As 1 Corinthians 6:19 reminds us, your physical body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. He is not a distant influence, a cloud of smoke, or an impersonal force; He is a person—the grand Administrator of the Godhead’s assets!

The Amplified Bible Classic Edition (AMPC) expands 2 Corinthians 13:14 to reveal the rich, multifaceted nature of this communion:

The grace (favor and spiritual blessing) of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the presence and fellowship (the communion and sharing together, and participation) in the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.”

[ DIMENSIONS OF HOLY SPIRIT COMMUNION ]
                                       |
         +-----------------------------+-----------------------------+
         | | |
         v v v
  [ FELLOWSHIP ] [ PARTNERSHIP ] [ TRANSPORTATION ]
(Intimate conversation & (Co-laboring in daily (Supernatural translation &
unreserved sharing) business & ministry) guidance into all truth)

The Greek word for communion used here is Koinonia, which encompasses:

1: Intimate Fellowship: Deep, unreserved heart-to-heart communication where you share your thoughts with Him and listen to His gentle, still voice.

2: Partnership: Co-laboring with Him in your career, family, health, and ministry, letting Him direct your steps and supply supernatural wisdom.

3: Transportation/Communication: Being carried along by His power into the exact places, decisions, and outcomes that align with God’s perfect will.

Fellowship with the Holy Spirit is your maximum advantage in life! When you wake up in the morning and acknowledge His presence, saying, “Good morning, Holy Spirit; direct my steps, speak through my lips, and glorify Jesus through my life today,” you step into a supernatural realm where failure, confusion, and defeat cannot survive!

V. WALKING IN THE TRIUNE LIGHT

Beloved, stop reciting 2 Corinthians 13:14 as a routine signal that church is over. Start declaring it as your personal identity and daily inheritance!

Whenever you face daunting challenges, financial pressure, or opposition:

  • Remind yourself of the Grace of Jesus that grants you unmerited favor.

  • Anchor yourself in the Love of the Father that guarantees your ultimate victory.

  • Yield yourself to the Communion of the Holy Spirit who whispers divine solutions directly into your spirit!

When you walk in the light of these three amazing provisions, it will not matter what city you live in, what economic storm is raging, or what obstacle stands before you—you will consistently rise above every limitation and reign in continuous, glorious victory! Hallelujah!

VI. PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for outfitting my life with the three supreme provisions of Your Kingdom: the boundless grace of my Lord Jesus Christ, Your unconditional and eternal love, and the uninterrupted, sweet communion of the Holy Spirit. My mind is illuminated to these realities daily. I walk in divine favor, rooted in Your love, and guided by the Holy Spirit in every decision I make. Therefore, my life is a continuous showcase of victory, excellence, and ever-increasing glory, in the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.

VII. FURTHER STUDY SUMMARY

Romans 5:5 (KJV): The Apostle Paul affirms that our spiritual hope never leads to disappointment or shame, because the infinite love of God has been lavishly poured out into our hearts through the indwelling Holy Spirit given to us.

1 John 1:3 (KJV): John emphasizes that apostolic fellowship is rooted in shared spiritual eyewitness testimony, revealing that our ultimate, eternal communion is directly with the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.

2 Timothy 1:9 (KJV): Paul reminds Timothy that God has saved and called believers with a holy calling, not based on our human works or merit, but according to His own eternal purpose and grace granted to us in Christ Jesus before time began.

2 Corinthians 13:14 (AMPC): The Amplified translation highlights the full scope of the triune blessing: the spiritual favor of Jesus, the unconditional love of God, and the rich, participative fellowship, partnership, and presence of the Holy Spirit abiding with every believer.

VIII. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR SUMMARY: ROMANS 1:1–17 & PSALMS 32–34

Romans 1:1–17: Paul introduces himself as a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle and set apart for the Gospel of God, which was promised through the prophets in the Holy Scriptures regarding His Son. He expresses his deep longing to visit the believers in Rome to impart spiritual gifts, strengthen their faith, and reap a harvest among them. Paul famously declares in verse 16 that he is not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes—to the Jew first and also to the Greek—revealing the righteousness of God from faith to faith, as it is written: “The just shall live by faith.”

Psalms 32–34:

Psalm 32: A joyful song of David celebrating the blessedness of the person whose transgression is forgiven and whose sin is covered. He recalls the physical and emotional agony he suffered when he kept silent about his sin, and the instant relief that came when he confessed his wrongdoing to the Lord. God promises to instruct and teach him in the way he should go, guiding him with His eye.

Psalm 33: A call for the righteous to rejoice in the Lord with instruments, singing a new song. The psalmist exalts the Lord’s word as right and true, declaring that the heavens were made by His word and the breath of His mouth. He contrasts the vanity of trusting in earthly armies or horses with the security of trusting in Jehovah, whose eye is on those who fear Him.

Psalm 34: A famous psalm composed when David feigned madness before Abimelech. He vows to bless the Lord at all times, with praise continually in his mouth. He testifies: “I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” The psalm contains iconic promises, including the assurance that the angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, that those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing, and that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

IX. BIBLE IN TWO YEAR SUMMARY: EPHESIANS 2:11–22 & ISAIAH 45

Ephesians 2:11–22: Paul urges Gentile believers to remember their past state when they were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel, strangers to the covenants of promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now, in Christ Jesus, those who were once far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. Christ Himself is our peace, having broken down the barrier wall of division between Jew and Gentile, abolishing the law of commandments to create in Himself one new man, reconciling both groups to God in one body through the cross. Consequently, believers are no longer strangers or foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus as the chief cornerstone, growing into a holy temple in the Lord.

Isaiah 45: God addresses Cyrus, the Persian king, calling him His anointed and promising to go before him to level mountains, break open bronze gates, and cut through iron bars to give him hidden treasures, so that he may know that Jehovah is God. God asserts His supreme sovereignty, declaring: “I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me.” He emphasizes His ultimate authority over light, darkness, prosperity, and adversity. God rebukes those who strive with their Maker, asking if clay can argue with the potter. He invites the ends of the earth to turn to Him and be saved, swearing an oath that every knee shall bow and every tongue confess allegiance to Him.
