INPUT DETERMINES OUTPUT II

MESSAGE BY: Pastor E. A. Adeboye

MEMORISE: ” But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.” — Luke 12:48

I. THE LAW OF DIVINE ACCOUNTABILITY AND STEWARDSHIP

Welcome to Wednesday, August 12, 2026. As established in the first part of this teaching, the spiritual law of input and output dictates that what you receive directly governs what you produce. However, a crucial dimension to this law exists: God measures your final output based strictly on the spiritual, mental, physical, and material inputs He has entrusted to you.

When God commissions you for an assignment, He never leaves you equipped with empty hands. He provides the exact resources required to carry out His divine assignment. Some of these inputs are external—such as godly mentors, financial opportunities, supportive networks, and favorable environments. Others are internal—such as spiritual gifts, intellectual capacity, natural talents, emotional resilience, and personal experiences.

As our memorised scripture in Luke 12:48 emphasizes, divine expectation scales with divine endowment. To whom much is given, much is required. God does not demand five-talent output from a one-talent investment, but He absolute demands complete faithfulness over whatever measure He has committed into your hands. You are a steward, not an owner. Every ability you possess is a divine deposit, and a day of reckoning approaches when every believer must present an account of their stewardship.

II. THE DANGER OF DESPISING HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

In our Bible reading from Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus illustrates the mechanics of divine kingdom investment through the Parable of the Talents. The master distributed his goods according to each servant’s several ability: to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one.

The servants who received five and two talents went out, traded faithfully, and doubled their master’s investment. They understood that the inputs given to them were meant to be deployed, multiplied, and maximized. However, the servant who received one talent allowed a toxic mindset to sabotage his destiny:

“Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.” — Matthew 25:24-25
This unprofitable servant made several fatal errors that mirror the attitudes of many believers today:

He compared his input with others: He felt shortchanged by receiving only one talent while another received five, allowing envy and resentment to freeze his initiative.

He misunderstood the character of his Master: He viewed God as harsh and demanding rather than loving, generous, and empowering.

He let fear dictate his actions: He allowed the fear of failure to bury his gift in the dirt of passivity and excuses.

Many people fall into this exact trap. They complain that they lack sufficient capital, higher education, physical beauty, influential connections, or extraordinary spiritual gifts. They choose to sit on their hands, waiting for God to give them “something big” before they begin serving Him. This mindset contradicts Kingdom principles! God never commits greater resources to anyone who has proven unfaithful with minimal resources. Faithfulness in small things is the prerequisite for promotion to larger responsibilities.

III. FROM OBSCURITY TO GLOBAL IMPACT: A LIVING TESTIMONY

Pastor Adeboye shares his personal journey to demonstrate how God multiplies humble inputs when yielded in faithful service:

“I hail from a village that was not on the map. My father was so poor that people who were also poor called him poor. Even though my parents were poor and I did not have many resources growing up, God gave me one talent, and that is my brain. I used the talent God gave me very effectively by studying diligently, and gradually, I acquired many more resources with it. The Lord gave me salvation in 1973, and from that point onward, I became a very useful vessel in His hands. When I reflect on the great things God has enabled me to achieve despite the limited resources I started out with, I always praise the Lord for His faithfulness. Indeed, when a fellow is faithful with little, more will be committed to him or her.”
Your starting point in life does not limit your ending point in God! You may have been born into poverty, raised in an obscure environment, or lacked formal privileges, but God has deposited at least one valuable talent inside you.

When Pastor Adeboye yielded his intellect to God, diligent academic study yielded advanced mathematical expertise. When he surrendered his life to Christ in 1973, that same intellect—now refined by the Holy Spirit—became a tool for structuring, expanding, and leading a ministry that touches millions across the globe. What you place in the hands of the Master never remains small!

IV. MAXIMIZING YOUR GOD-GIVEN INPUTS FOR KINGDOM IMPACT

Look inward and look around you today. Stop focusing on what you lack and begin cataloging what you have.

Have you been blessed with a sound mind? A voice to sing or speak? Administrative skills? A spirit of hospitality? Financial resources? The capacity to pray? A listening ear? Digital and technical skills?

These are not accidental traits; they are divine investments meant to advance the Kingdom of God:

1: Deploy Your Gifts for Evangelism: Use your natural abilities, influence, and professional excellence to draw men to Christ. Let your output in your workplace or community be so remarkable that people ask about the God you serve.

2: Gain Influence for Kingdom Advancement: Strive for excellence in your field so you can occupy key seats of authority. When godly men and women rise to positions of influence, they create platforms for the Gospel to flourish.

3: Refuse to Bury Your Talent: Identify every area where fear, laziness, or self-doubt has caused you to hide your gift. Unearth that talent today and put it to work through active service in your local church and community.

God is looking for faithful, dependable stewards. As you maximize the grace currently available to you, the Lord will open doors to greater capacity, greater resources, and greater spiritual authority!

V. TWELVE POWERFUL PRAYER POINTS

Pray these prayer points with faith, asking God to ignite your potential for His glory:

1: Thanksgiving for Divine Investments: Father, I thank You for every gift, talent, skill, and resource You have deposited within my spirit, mind, and body, in Jesus’ Name.

2: Forgiveness for Past 2: Unfaithfulness: Lord, forgive me for every time I have complained about what I lack, despised small beginnings, or buried my talents due to fear and passivity, in Jesus’ Name.

3: Deliverance from the Spirit of Slothfulness: Every spirit of laziness, procrastination, and excuses hindering me from deploying my gifts effectively, be destroyed by fire, in Jesus’ Name!

4: Grace for Faithful Stewardship: Father, grant me the grace and wisdom to be an exceptionally faithful steward over the small resources in my hands today, in Jesus’ Name.

5: Anointing for Multiplication: Lord, as I deploy my talents for Your Kingdom, let Your divine blessing rest upon my efforts to produce a hundredfold increase, in Jesus’ Name.

6: Destruction of Comparing Mindsets: Every root of envy, comparison, and self-pity holding me back from fulfilling my unique destiny, be uprooted by the power of the Holy Spirit!

7: Empowerment for Soul-Winning: Father, use my skills, profession, intellect, and resources as effective tools to win souls into Your Kingdom, in Jesus’ Name.

8: Promotion into Kingdom Influence: Lord, elevate me in my field of endeavor so that my light will shine bright, bringing glory to Your Holy Name before men, in Jesus’ Name.

9: Supernatural Expansion of Capacity: Father, expand my mental, spiritual, and physical capacity so I can handle greater responsibilities in Your Kingdom, in Jesus’ Name.

10: Freedom from the Fear of Failure: Every spirit of fear causing me to hide my talents in the earth, lose your grip over my life now, in the mighty Name of Jesus!

11: Heart of Wisdom and Diligence: Lord, endow me with the discipline and diligence to sharpen my gifts through continuous learning, prayer, and practice, in Jesus’ Name.

12: Personal Stewardship Petitions: [Present your specific personal areas where you seek divine empowerment to serve God more effectively.]

VI. BIBLE TEXT SUMMARY & FURTHER STUDY

Bible Text Summary: Matthew 25:14-30

The Parable of the Talents illustrates how a nobleman entrusted varying measures of financial talents to three servants before going on a long journey. The five-talent and two-talent servants traded faithfully and doubled their master’s goods, earning high praise, promotion, and joy. In contrast, the one-talent servant harbored wrong motives, allowed fear to paralysis his initiative, and buried his talent. Upon his return, the master condemned the idle servant as wicked and slothful, removed his single talent to give to the ten-talent servant, and cast him out as unprofitable.

Further Study Scripture References

Luke 12:48: “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.” — Reinforces that divine endowment correlates directly with spiritual accountability.

1 Corinthians 4:2: “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” — Highlights that faithfulness is the primary criteria God seeks in every servant.

VII. BIBLE READING PLAN

1-Year Bible Reading Plan

Jeremiah 28–30
Jeremiah 28: Records the direct confrontation between Jeremiah and the false prophet Hananiah, who falsely prophesied that Babylon’s yoke would be broken within two years. Jeremiah warns him of his falsehood, and Hananiah dies within the same year according to God’s word.

Jeremiah 29: Contains Jeremiah’s letter to the exiles in Babylon, instructing them to build houses, plant gardens, marry, and seek the peace of the city where they are held captive. God promises restoration after seventy years, declaring: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

Jeremiah 30: Focuses on the prophetic promise of restoration for Israel and Judah from captivity. God promises to heal their wounds, break the yoke of bondage off their necks, and raise up David their king to serve the Lord.

VIII. HYMN 12: ONWARD, CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS!

ONWARD, CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS! MARCHING AS TO WAR,
Looking unto Jesus,
Who is gone before;
Christ, the Royal Master,
Leads against the foe;
Forward into battle,
See His banners go.
Chorus:
Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
Looking unto Jesus,
Who is gone before.
Satan’s host doth flee;
On then, Christian soldiers,

On to victory!

Hell’s foundations quiver

At the shout of praise:
Brothers, lift your voices,
Loud your anthems raise.
(Chorus)
Like a mighty army
Brothers, we are treading
Where the saints have trod.
We are not divided,
All one body we,
One in hope and doctrine,
One in charity.
(Chorus)
Crowns and thrones may perish,
Kingdoms rise and wane;
But the Church of Jesus
Constant will remain:
Gates of hell can never
‘Gainst that church prevail;
We have Christ’s own promise,
And that cannot fail.
(Chorus)
Onward then, ye people,
Join our happy throng;
Blend with ours your voices
In the triumph song:
“Glory, praise and honour,
Unto Christ the King”, —
This, through countless ages,
Men and angels sing.
(Chorus)
