I. THE ANATOMY OF AN ETERNAL INHERITANCE
As we gather on this Lord’s Day, May 10, 2026, the Holy Spirit invites us to contemplate the footprint we are leaving on the sands of time. In our contemporary society, the concept of “legacy” is frequently reduced to the distribution of material assets. We think of landed properties in choice locations, diversified stock portfolios, luxury vehicles, or thriving family businesses. While these are not inherently evil—and are indeed part of the “inheritance” a good man leaves for his children’s children (Proverbs 13:22)—they are subject to the decay of time and the volatility of the economy.
Today’s devotion challenges us to look beyond the temporal. A true legacy is something of intrinsic value received from an ancestor that cannot be liquidated by a market crash. The Apostle Paul, writing from the cold confines of a Roman prison, identified the most potent legacy in the life of his protégé, Timothy: Unfeigned Faith. This was not a faith Timothy conjured in isolation; it was a spiritual baton passed down through a trans-generational relay, starting with his grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice.

2. The Tragedy of Missing Faith
If you leave your children houses but no Holiness, you have left them a shelter that cannot withstand the storms of eternity. If you leave them cars but no Character, you have left them a vehicle that will eventually lead them to a crash. The goal of every Christian parent in 2026 should be to ensure that their children are not only “well-off” but “well-aligned” with the purposes of God.

Q1: What if my children are already grown and I didn’t build this legacy earlier? Is it too late?
Answer: It is never too late for a “spiritual retrofit.” You can begin today by modeling a life of deep repentance and fervent prayer. Your “grandfather/grandmother” years (like Lois) can be the most influential. Let them see your “unfeigned faith” now; the testimony of a changed life is a powerful legacy.

The big question echoing through the halls of your life today is: “What will I be remembered for?”
1: Look at Your Foundation: Is your life built on the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus?
2: Audit Your Assets: Are you spending more time building your bank account than you are building the “spiritual stock” of your household?
3: Inculcate Godly Values: Don’t just “teach” faith; “inculcate” it. This means to press it into their hearts through repetition and example until it becomes their own.
VI. REFLECTION & PROPHETIC ALIGNMENT
THOUGHT TO PONDER:
What legacy am I currently leaving for my children that can make them better citizens of earth and better members of the community of faith? If my “spiritual will” were read today, would it be empty?

1: The Remembrance List: Identify the spiritual strengths you saw in your own “forefathers” (v. 3). Thank God for them and resolve to amplify them in your generation.
2: The Prayer Altar: Gather your family today—not just for a meal, but for a “Legacy Moment.” Share a testimony of God’s faithfulness in your life.
3: The Conscious Effort: Choose one godly value (e.g., Integrity, Generosity, or Prayerfulness) and intentionally model it to a younger person this week.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the spiritual giants who went before me. I thank You for the Lois and Eunice figures who paved the way. Lord, I realize that I cannot give what I do not have. Empower me today to deepen my own ‘unfeigned faith.’ Give me the expertise and determination to build a spiritual house that will stand for generations. Help me to secure the future of my children, not just with material things, but with an eternal relationship with You. Let my life be a blueprint that others can follow to find Christ. In Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen.

I decree today that you shall not be the “end” of the godly line in your family! I break the cycle of spiritual stagnation and rebellion in your lineage! I decree that your children and your children’s children shall possess an “unfeigned faith” that cannot be shaken! You receive the grace to be a wise “Master Builder” of destiny. I command every material blessing you acquire to be sanctified by a spiritual legacy. Your generation shall be better, stronger, and more faithful because you lived! In Jesus’ mighty Name, it is settled!
