ATTRACTING GOD HELP (PART II) – THE POWER OF VOLUNTARY SERVICE

I. THE SPIRIT OF THE SERVANT

Yesterday, we established that a humble cry is a magnet for divine intervention. Today, we move deeper into the “Protocol of Attraction” by exploring Voluntary Service. In the Kingdom of God, help is often the “wages” of a heart that serves without a price tag.

Many people seek God’s hand but ignore His work. However, the secret to attracting constant divine help is to become a person of “goodwill.” As our memory verse in Ephesians 6:7 suggests, the quality of our service is determined by our audience. When you serve as “unto the Lord,” you shift your expectation of reward from human employers to the Creator of the Universe.

II. THE ABRAHAMIC EXAMPLE: HOSPITALITY AS A TRIGGER

In Genesis 18, we find Abraham sitting at his tent door in the heat of the day. He was an old man, wealthy and respected, yet his heart was tuned to the frequency of service.

1. The Proactive Invitation

When Abraham saw three strangers passing by, he didn’t wait for them to beg for water. He ran to meet them. This is the first key: Wholeheartedness. He bowed himself to the ground, offering not just a “little water,” but his very best.

2. The Cost of the “Free” Service

Abraham didn’t just give leftovers. He hastened to Sarah to prepare fine meal and ran to the herd to fetch a “calf tender and good.” He served them butter, milk, and meat, and then—most importantly—he stood by them under the tree while they ate. He acted as their waiter. He didn’t know he was hosting the Almighty; he simply thought he was helping travelers.

3. The Resulting Visitation

Abraham’s voluntary service prompted God to address the one area where Abraham was “helpless”: the barrenness of Sarah. Before the visitors left, the “Time of Life” was decreed. Service moved the hand of God to do what prayer alone had not yet accomplished.

III. THE DANGER OF “COMMERCIALIZED” MINISTRY

There is a growing trend in the body of Christ today that grieves the Holy Spirit: the commercialization of spiritual gifts.

I was once asked about instrumentalists who refuse to play in church unless they receive a specific fee. My answer remains the same: No one pays for the same service twice. * If a singer or instrumentalist insists on a salary, the church may pay them, but they have received their reward in full from men.

A son who demands payment from his father before washing the car is a “contractor,” not an heir. Contractors get paid; heirs get the inheritance. If you want to enjoy the “Exceeding Great Reward” (Genesis 15:1), you must serve with a heart that says, “Lord, I am doing this because I love You.”

IV. SERVING FROM THE HEART VS. EYE-SERVICE

The difference between serving man and serving God lies in the visibility of the motive.

With Men: You can use “eye-service”—working hard only when the boss is watching—and still get promoted.

With God: He sees the heart. If you serve unwillingly or grudgingly, you are wasting your time. God does not owe an unwilling servant anything.

Apostle Paul understood this perfectly. In 2 Corinthians 12:15, he said, “And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you.” He wasn’t looking for a paycheck; he was looking for souls. When you are willing to be “spent” for God’s work, God ensures you are never “spent” in your personal resources. He becomes your “Help and your Shield.”

V. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A: THE PROTOCOL OF VOLUNTARY SERVICE

Q1: Does this mean it is wrong for a full-time minister to receive a salary?

Answer: No. The Bible says the laborer is worthy of his hire (Luke 10:7). However, the motive is what matters. If you would stop serving God the moment the salary stops, then you are serving the money, not the Master. Divine help follows those whose service is not “price-dependent.”

Q2: I serve in the ushering/cleaning department, but I feel overlooked. Where is my help?

Answer: Abraham stood by the strangers while they ate, acting as a lowly servant. He was overlooked by men, but God was watching. Your help is not coming from your Pastor; it is coming from the Throne. Keep serving “joyfully,” and your “Time of Life” will manifest.

Q3: How do I cultivate a ‘willing heart’ when I feel tired or unappreciated?

Answer: Look at our hymn: “Let us follow the path that our Master has trod.” Jesus served those who would later crucify Him. When you feel tired, remember that you are doing it “as to the Lord.” His strength is renewed in those who toil for His Kingdom.

VI. THE 2026 PROPHETIC CHALLENGE: THE SEARCH FOR VOLUNTEERS

In this year 2026, the harvest is plenty but the willing laborers are few. Many are willing to serve if there is a “benefit,” a “title,” or a “payment.” But God is looking for the “Abrahams” who will run to the strangers, and the “Pauls” who will gladly be spent.

  • If you want God to arise for your business, start by serving in His house with “goodwill.”

  • If you want God to heal your home, start by comforting the “hungry” and the “weary” as the hymn suggests.

One of the reasons I enjoy God’s help today is that I left everything—a promising academic career—to serve Him when there was nothing “enticing” about it. I served Him when the church was small and the resources were non-existent. Because I served Him then, He is helping me now.

VII. REFLECTION & ACTION POINT

THOUGHT TO PONDER:

If God was to “pay” me for my service based only on my willingness and joy, would I be a billionaire or a bankrupt soul?

ACTION POINT:

1: Check Your Motive: Ask yourself, “Would I still do this task in church if no one ever thanked me or paid me?”

2: Go the Extra Mile: This week, do something in the house of God or for a neighbor that is completely “voluntary.” Don’t wait to be asked.

3: Serve Joyfully: In your workplace or church, perform your duties with a smile and “singleness of heart,” knowing that your true Boss is in Heaven.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please give me a heart that loves to serve You. Deliver me from the spirit of ‘eye-service’ and ‘commercialized ministry.’ Lord, I choose to serve You today willingly, joyfully, and wholeheartedly. As I ‘spend and am spent’ for Your Kingdom, please arise and help me in my own areas of need. Let my labor of love attract Your divine visitation, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

PROPHETIC DECREE:

I decree today that as you “hasten” to serve the Lord, He will hasten to bless you! I command a “Divine Turnaround” in every barren area of your life. Because you have chosen to serve with “goodwill,” the Lord shall stand by you in your day of trouble. I decree that your labor shall not be in vain; the “Time of Life” is manifesting in your family this season! You shall be a candidate for “special blessings” that money cannot buy, in the mighty Name of Jesus!
