I. THE MISALIGNMENT OF HUMAN AMBITION
Welcome to Thursday, September 17, 2026. Tragic as it is, millions of people live and die without ever realizing why the Creator dispatched them to this earth. They pour decades of sweat, intellect, and emotional energy into pursuits that look impressive on paper but lie entirely outside God’s divine Blueprint.
In Galatians 1:15, Apostle Paul observed that God separated him from his mother’s womb for a specific prophetic mandate. Yet for years, Paul (then Saul) lived in total ignorance of that assignment:
Misdirected Zeal: He pursued religious status, intellectual clout, and the persecution of the early Church, genuinely believing he was serving God.
Climbing the Wrong Wall: Many today are furiously scrambling up career, business, or even ministerial ladders, only to realize at the peak that their ladder was leaning against the wrong wall entirely.
The Struggle of Wrong Positioning: When a person ordained to be a tailor insists on being a teacher, or vice versa, they struggle perpetually because divine backing only accompanies divine assignment.
II. THE DAMASCUS ROAD ENCOUNTER: WHEN LIGHT SHINES
Saul’s trajectory changed in a single instant when heaven intercepted his self-chosen path in Acts 9:3–6:
“And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? … And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?”
It was the sudden shine of heavenly light that exposed Saul’s spiritual blindness. Until that light pierced his life, his zeal was merely destructive ambition. The moment Christ revealed Himself, Saul dropped his personal agenda and asked the fundamental question every soul must ask: “Lord, what wilt Thou have me to do?”
When Jesus declared in John 8:12 that He is the Light of the world, He promised that those who follow Him will never walk in darkness. Following Christ closely is the only way to illuminate your true identity, career direction, and ultimate purpose.
III. FROM ACADEMIC AMBITION TO KINGDOM IMPACT
Before I surrendered my life to Christ, my driving ambition was to become the youngest Vice-Chancellor (VC) in Africa. I threw all my energy into academics, excelling in mathematics, and quickly became the acting Head of the Mathematics Department at a Federal university in Nigeria at a very young age.
I had already gone through the interview process for full professorship and was eagerly anticipating using the title “Professor” within months. Then God called me into full-time ministry.
Humanly speaking, it seemed like abandoning a brilliant academic career. Yet consider how God’s higher plan unfolded:
A Greater Reach: I never became the youngest Vice-Chancellor in Africa, but today, countless Vice-Chancellors honorably call me “Daddy.”
Supernatural Fulfillment: Though I stepped away from the university administration ladder I was climbing, God has used the ministry He entrusted to me to establish a vibrant university, impacting generations far beyond what a single academic appointment could have accomplished.
When you surrender your cherished ambitions to God, He does not destroy your potential—He expands it beyond human imagination!
IV. TWELVE POWERFUL PRAYER POINT
Pray these prayer points with spiritual intensity, asking God to illuminate and fulfill your true assignment:
1: Thanksgiving for Divine Creation: Heavenly Father, I thank You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made, designed with a specific kingdom purpose before the foundation of the world!
2: Deliverance from Misdirected Zeal: Lord, deliver me from wasting my years, talent, and energy on ambitions and pursuits that fall outside Your divine plan for my life!
3: The Interception of Heavenly Light: Father, let the divine light of Christ shine upon my path, exposing every blind spot and redirecting me away from wrong choices!
4: Alignment with Divine Assignment: Lord, align my heart, career, business, and ministry with the exact blueprint You wrote for me before I was born!
5: Shattering False Ladders: Father, if my life’s ladder is currently leaning against the wrong wall, disrupt my plans and position me on the right path by Your mercy!
6: Grace for Total Surrender: Lord, give me the courage to lay down my personal titles, ambitions, and human pride to embrace Your higher calling!
7: Discernment of Spiritual Gifts: Father, open my eyes to recognize the unique grace, talents, and spiritual gifts You have deposited inside me for Kingdom impact!
8: Anointing for Fruitful Labor: Lord, rescue me from fruitless labor; let my work yield supernatural results because I am operating in my called domain!
9: Breakthrough Over Generational Stagnation: Father, break every chain of frustration and delay caused by operating outside my God-given purpose!
10: Impact Beyond Human Expectation: Lord, just as You magnified Pastor Adeboye’s ministry beyond his academic dreams, multiply my life’s impact beyond human limitations!
11: Unwavering Sensitivity to the Spirit: Holy Spirit, guide my daily steps; let me hear Your voice behind me saying, “This is the way, walk ye in it”!
12: Personal Request for Purpose Fulfillment: [Present your specific career, family, and spiritual plans, asking God to reveal His specific will and empower you to fulfill it.]
V. BIBLE TEXT SUMMARY & FURTHER STUDY
Bible Text Summary: Acts 9:3–6
While traveling to Damascus with authority to arrest Christians, Saul is suddenly surrounded by a blinding light from heaven. Falling to the ground, he hears a voice calling his name and asking why he persecutes Him. When Saul asks for the voice’s identity, the Lord reveals Himself as Jesus, warning Saul that resisting divine destiny is like kicking against sharp goads. Trembling and astonished, Saul asks what the Lord would have him do. Jesus instructs him to rise, enter the city of Damascus, and await further instructions regarding his assignment.

1-Year Bible Reading Plan
Joel 1–3
Joel 1: The prophet Joel addresses the elders and inhabitants of Judah, calling them to hear of an unprecedented disaster that must be passed down through generations. A devastating swarm of locusts—described successively as cutting, swarming, hopping, and destroying locusts—has stripped the land bare. Vineyards, fig trees, wheat, and barley fields are ruined, causing grain and drink offerings to cease in the house of the Lord. Joel commands the priests and ministers to gird themselves in sackcloth, consecrate a fast, call a solemn assembly, and cry out to the Lord because the “Day of the LORD” is near, bringing destruction from the Almighty.
Joel 2: Joel commands the trumpet to be blown in Zion to sound an alarm on God’s holy mountain. He describes an approaching, invincible army like fire devouring the land, turning Eden into a desolate wilderness. At God’s command, the earth quakes and the heavens tremble. Yet God appeals to His people: “Turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: And rend your heart, and not your garments.” When the people repent, God promises pity, promising to remove the northern army, restore the wasted years eaten by the locusts, and provide abundant grain, wine, and oil. He then gives the famous prophecy: “I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy…”
Joel 3: God declares that in the days of restoration, He will gather all nations into the Valley of Jehoshaphat to enter into judgment for scattering His people and dividing His land. He calls the nations to prepare for war, beat their plowshares into swords and their pruning hooks into spears, and assemble for judgment. The Lord roars from Zion, causing heavens and earth to shake, but remains a refuge for His people. Jerusalem will be holy, mountains will drip with sweet wine, hills will flow with milk, and a fountain will issue from the house of the Lord, while Judah abides forever.
VII. HYMNAL 23: ALL TO JESUS, I SURRENDER

VIII. PROPHETIC DECREE
I decree and declare that on this Thursday, September 17, 2026, the light of God illuminates every dark corner of your life and reveals your true purpose!
Every spirit of confusion, wasted labor, and walking on the wrong path is permanently cast out of your destiny!
You will not spend your life climbing career or ministerial ladders leaning against the wrong wall; heaven aligns your steps with your pre-ordained assignment!
As you surrender your ambitions to Jesus Christ today, He elevates your impact beyond human dreams, causing you to flourish, lead, and fulfill your glorious calling, in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ! Amen! Hallelujah!
