THE KEYS TO FREEDOM, PART 1

MEMORIZE: “For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper.” — Psalm 72:12

I. THE COMPLACENCY OF BONDAGE: WHY FREEDOM BEGINS WITH A CHOICE

It is the absolute, uncompromised desire of the Almighty God that every single one of His children walks in complete, unhindered liberty. The Creator of the universe never designed human beings to live as captives to demonic yokes, chronic illnesses, financial embarrassments, or emotional torments. This is why our Lord Jesus Christ extended a timeless, universal invitation to humanity in Matthew 11:28: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

God possesses unlimited power to shatter every demonic chain (Isaiah 10:27). His muscular arm is never too short to save, nor is His ear too heavy to hear the cries of the oppressed. However, there is a fundamental spiritual law that governs the portal of deliverance: a person must first recognize, admit, and vocalize their need for help before divine intervention can take place.

The tragic reality in our modern world—and even within many religious circles—is that many individuals have grown comfortable with their captivity.

• They have institutionalized their suffering.

• They have given cute medical or psychological names to demonic yokes.

• They have accepted chronic sickness, persistent loneliness, long-standing barrenness, and deep sorrow as their normal “cross to bear.”

When you become complacent in your place of affliction, heaven’s hands are tied. God does not force deliverance upon anyone who is satisfied with their chain. Until you reach a point of holy indignation where you say, “Enough is enough! I refuse to carry this burden another day!” the enemy will keep you in bondage. True freedom begins the very moment you drop your pride, admit your helplessness, and turn your eyes toward the Great Deliverer!

II. THE COST OF DENIAL: THE DANGERS OF MASKING SPIRITUAL AFFLICTION

To illustrate how dangerous it is to deny or cover up a spiritual burden out of pride or embarrassment, I recall a highly sober incident that happened in my ministry several years ago.

A husband brought his wife to see me for private spiritual assistance. The man looked at me with deep anguish and said, “Daddy, please help me and pray for my family. My wife is involved in witchcraft, and it is destroying our home.”

I turned to the woman and asked her directly if her husband’s claims were true. She immediately stiffened, looked at me with offense, and vehemently denied it. She insisted that her husband was lying and that she had nothing to do with dark powers.

I looked at her gently and explained the spiritual reality: if she was indeed caught up in witchcraft, as her husband claimed, we could pray together right then and there, the power of God would come upon her, and she would be set completely free. However, because she was determined to protect her ego, she stubbornly maintained that she was completely innocent and needed no deliverance.

Seeing her resolve, I prayed a simple prayer: “Father, if this woman is not a witch, let her continue to prosper and flourish. However, if she is involved in dark powers as alleged, I bind whatever demon is operating inside her in the Name of Jesus.”

They left my office. Three months later, the husband brought the woman back to me, but this time, the situation was terrifying. Her physical body was swollen to an alarming degree—she had literally doubled in physical size and was in excruciating agony!

Because the demonic entity operating inside her had been bound by the authority of the name of Jesus and could no longer operate outside, it turned inward. It was literally feeding on her internal organs and depositing its waste inside her physical frame!

The woman had suffered horrific, unnecessary torment simply because three months prior, she refused to admit her true state and receive deliverance.

My child, denial is a deadly trap! Covering up your struggles, addictions, or spiritual afflictions out of pride will only give the enemy legal ground to destroy you from within.

III. SETTLING FOR GRADUAL RELIEF: THE DANGERS OF WEAK EXPECTATIONS

There is another subtle danger that prevents many people from experiencing total deliverance: settling for partial or slow relief.

Sometime ago, a man who was suffering from a severe, hacking cough was brought to me for prayer. In the early years of my ministry, I would have simply laid hands on him immediately and prayed for his healing without asking any questions. But over time, through spiritual experience and the guidance of the Holy Ghost, I learned the importance of asking targeted questions.

I looked at the man, despite his obvious physical distress, and asked, “Sir, how exactly can I help you today?”

I asked this because I needed to know what his faith was anchored on, just as Jesus asked the blind man in today’s Bible reading. To my absolute astonishment, the man looked at me and said, “Pastor, I want you to pray that this cough leaves me slowly and gradually.”

I could hardly believe my ears! Here was a man sitting in the presence of the Almighty God—the One who spoke the universe into existence—asking for a slow, gradual exit of a simple cough! He had become so accustomed to his illness that he could not even conceive the possibility of an instant miracle.

Do not be like that man! When you come to God, do not ask for a temporary ceasefire with the devil. Do not ask God to reduce your debt slightly; ask Him to clear it completely! Do not ask Him to manage your sickness; ask Him to eradicate it from its roots! God is not a God of partial measures; He is the God of absolute, instant, and total deliverance!

IV. LESSONS FROM JERICHO: THE CRY OF BLIND BARTIMAEUS

Our Bible reading today from Mark 10:46-52 gives us the ultimate blueprint for accessing divine freedom.

Blind Bartimaeus was sitting by the highway side outside Jericho, reduced to a lifestyle of begging. He was blind, poor, and completely dependent on the charity of passersby. But the moment he heard that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by, a holy fire ignited inside his spirit.

He did not let his physical limitation keep him silent. He began to shout at the top of his lungs: “Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me!”

Look at the reaction of the crowd. The respectable, religious crowd charged him to shut up. They told him to be quiet, stay in his place, and stop disturbing the Master. They wanted him to accept his blindness as his permanent destiny.

But Bartimaeus refused to be silenced! The Bible records that he cried the more a great deal: “Thou son of David, have mercy on me!”

His desperate, uncompromising cry caused the Creator of the universe to stand stock-still! Jesus stopped in His tracks and commanded Bartimaeus to be called.

Notice what Bartimaeus did next: he cast away his beggar’s garment (Mark 10:50). Before he even received his physical sight, he threw away the official uniform of his blindness and poverty! He admitted he was blind, but he refused to wear the identity of blindness any longer.

When he stood before Jesus, the Lord asked him a direct question: “What wilt thou that I should do unto thee?”

Bartimaeus did not ask for a small financial donation, a better begging spot, or a slow improvement in his vision. He made a clear, bold request: “Lord, that I might receive my sight.”

Jesus looked at him and declared, “Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole.” Immediately, his eyes popped open, his darkness vanished, and he followed Jesus on the road!

Bartimaeus obtained his freedom because he admitted his need, refused to be silenced by crowd pressure, cast away his old garment, and asked for total restoration!

V. STEPPING INTO YOUR LIBERTY

Beloved, what is the heavy burden or demonic yoke operating in your life today? Is it a hidden addiction, an unexplainable illness, financial bankruptcy, or persistent spiritual attacks?

Stop pretending everything is fine when your life is falling apart! Drop the masks, abandon human pride, and come to the throne of grace today.

Admit to the Lord that you need His supernatural help. Cry out to Him with all your heart, cast away every garment of compromise, and demand total deliverance in the Name of Jesus. The Great Deliverer is standing still for you today, and He will answer your cry speedily!

VI. KEY POINT

The first non-negotiable step to gaining complete freedom from the devil’s yoke is to drop all pride, admit your need for help, and cry out to the Deliverer.

VII. BIBLE TEXT SUMMARY: MARK 10:46-52

As Jesus leaves Jericho with His disciples and a large crowd, a blind beggar named Bartimaeus sits by the roadside. Hearing that Jesus of Nazareth is passing by, Bartimaeus begins shouting for the Son of David to have mercy on him. Despite the crowd sternly ordering him to be quiet, he cries out even louder. Jesus stops and commands him to be called. Encouraged by the crowd, Bartimaeus throws off his outer coat, jumps up, and comes to Jesus. When Jesus asks what he wants, Bartimaeus explicitly requests to receive his sight. Jesus commends his faith, and Bartimaeus instantly regains his sight and follows Jesus down the road.

VIII. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR SUMMARY: ISAIAH 20–24

Isaiah 20: God commands Isaiah to walk naked and barefoot for three years as a vivid prophetic sign against Egypt and Cush. The sign reveals that the king of Assyria will lead away the Egyptian captives and Cushite exiles, young and old, naked and barefoot, to the absolute shame of Egypt, proving to Judah that trusting in foreign alliances instead of God is completely futile.

Isaiah 21: Isaiah receives heavy, unsettling visions concerning the fall of Babylon (the “desert by the sea”), describing the treacherous dealer being dealt with treacherously and the idols of Babylon being shattered to the ground. The chapter also contains brief, solemn oracles regarding Dumah (Edom) and Arabia, warning of impending night, judgment, and war within a year.

Isaiah 22: A stern warning against the “Valley of Vision” (Jerusalem). Instead of repenting in sackcloth and ashes when facing military threats, the citizens indulge in reckless feasting, saying, “Let us eat and drink; for tomorrow we shall die.” Isaiah also prophesies the divine removal of Shebna, the proud royal steward, and his replacement by Eliakim, whom God promises to fasten like a secure peg in a firm place.

Isaiah 23: An oracle detailing the downfall of Tyre, the famous, wealthy maritime trading hub. Isaiah foretells that Tyre will be laid waste and forgotten for seventy years—matching the lifespan of a king—after which the Lord will visit Tyre, and her commercial profits will ultimately be set apart as holy to the Lord to supply food and clothing for those who dwell before Him.

Isaiah 24: A dramatic, apocalyptic picture of global judgment. The Lord turns the earth upside down, laying it waste and scattering its inhabitants regardless of social status, because humanity has transgressed laws, violated statutes, and broken the everlasting covenant. Amidst global devastation, a remnant glorifies the Lord, while ultimate divine judgment falls upon the host of heaven and earthly kings, leading to the glorious reign of the Lord of hosts on Mount Zion.

IX. HYMNAL 6: CONQUERORS AND OVERCOMERS NOW ARE WE

1. Conquerors and overcomers now are we,

Thro’ the precious blood of Christ we’ve victory;

If the Lord be for us, we can never fail,

Nothing ‘gainst His mighty pow’r can e’er prevail.

Chorus:

Conquerors are we, through the blood of Jesus,

God will give us victory, through the blood of Jesus,

Thro’ the Lamb for sinners slain,

Yet who lives and reigns again,

More than conquerors are we,

More than conquerors are we.

2. In the name of Israel’s God we’ll onward press,

Overcoming sin and all unrighteousness;

Not to us, but unto Him the praise shall be,

For Salvation and for blood-bought victory.

3. Unto him that overcometh shall be given,

Here to eat of hidden manna sent from heav’n,

Over yonder he the victor’s palm shall bear,

And a robe of white, and golden crown shall wear.

X. PROPHETIC DECREE

I decree and declare that on this Monday, July 20, 2026, every spirit of pride, self-sufficiency, and spiritual denial holding you back from your total freedom is completely broken by the power of the Holy Ghost! I command every heavy yoke of chronic sickness, persistent failure, demonic oppression, and financial embarrassment operating in your life to catch fire and burn to ashes right now!

You will no longer wear the beggar’s garment of shame or settle for gradual, partial relief!

Like blind Bartimaeus, I decree that as you cry out to the Lord today, the Great Deliverer stands still on your behalf!

Every demonic voice telling you to shut up and accept your suffering is permanently silenced by the blood of Jesus.

Receive your total healing, receive your instant breakthrough, cast off every old identity of captivity, and step out into this new day walking in absolute, unshakeable victory as a true conqueror through the blood of Jesus Christ! Amen! Hallelujah!
