When the season of divine judgment was completed, he returned to the top of Mount Carmel, altered his physical posture, and prayed with equal intensity again until the atmospheric systems gave way to a historic, heavy downpour.

During that very era of national drought and economic famine, Elijah was hit with an emergency: the young son of the widow of Zarephath died suddenly. Instead of breaking down in emotional grief, panic, or bitter complaining, Elijah carried the corpse to his upper room, laid it upon his bed, and aggressively cried out to the Lord. The bible records in 1 Kings 17:22 that the Lord heard the voice of Elijah, and the soul of the child returned into him, restoring him to life. What was the hidden secret behind Elijah’s spectacular record of answered prayers? He was not an occasional visitor to the throne room; he was a man of consistent, unyielding, and uncompromised prayer. The equation of the Kingdom remains unchanged: those who prioritize prayer as their primary response to life will always enjoy a continuous, unbroken manifestation of supernatural answers in their daily affairs.

He confessed within himself that although he cared nothing for morality, he would grant her legal justice simply because her non-stop arrivals were thoroughly exhausting his mind and threatening to wear him out. Jesus concludes this masterpiece by revealing that if an unrighteous, wicked human judge can bow to sheer persistence, how much more will the holy, loving, and righteous Almighty God step forward to avenge His own elect who cry out to Him day and night? He declares in Luke 18:8: “I tell you that he will avenge them speedily”.

You cannot claim to be a close friend of God if you only speak to Him for five rushed minutes on Sunday mornings. The more time you spend on your knees, pouring your heart over the scriptures and listening in the spirit, the greater your access becomes to the very heart and strategic plans of your heavenly Father.
