RUN TOWARDS THE MARK

I. THE UNMISTAKABLE SINGULARITY OF PURPOSE
Welcome to Saturday, September 5, 2026. When you examine the life and ministry of the Apostle Paul through Holy Scripture, one dominant characteristic stands out above all else: a singular, laser-focused commitment to his divine calling.
Paul was not attempting to juggle a dozen conflicting personal ambitions or split his attention between earthly prestige and heavenly purpose. He concentrated his entire life into a single spiritual lens. As he declared in Philippians 3:13–14, his entire philosophy came down to one core directive: “this one thing I do.”
To run effectively toward your divine mark, you must master two essential spiritual actions:
Forgetting What Is Behind: You must intentionally release past failures, past hurts, lingering regrets, and even past achievements. Resting on yesterday’s victories creates spiritual stagnation, while obsessing over past mistakes breeds paralysis.
Reaching Forth to What Is Before: You must actively stretch your spiritual capacity, mind, and faith toward the future God has mapped out for you, refusing to settle for mediocrity or compromise.
II. THE MINDSET OF THE MASTER
This unwavering singleness of vision was perfectly demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ.
In Hebrews 12:2, the Holy Spirit reveals the mental and spiritual anchor that sustained Jesus through His earthly ministry:
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Consider what Jesus endured:
Severe Physical Agony: The scourging, the crown of thorns, and the crucifixion.
Public Humiliation and Rejection: Being mocked by those He came to save, stripped of His garments, and abandoned.
Fixation on the Outcome: Jesus looked past the immediate pain, betrayal, and shame because His eyes were locked on the “joy set before Him”—the redemption of humanity and His exaltation at the right hand of God.
Because Jesus maintained total focus on the heavenly goal, He overcame every obstacle, defeated death, and secured eternal victory!
III. SPEED WITHOUT DIRECTION IS FUTILITY
In the world today, many individuals are extremely busy, highly active, and constantly moving, yet they are running in the completely wrong direction.
An athlete may possess incredible speed, perfect form, and explosive strength, but if they sprint with all their energy away from the finish line, their speed is useless.
The Trap of Activity: Being busy does not equate to being fruitful. Human ambition, competitive pressure, and financial pursuits often lure believers into spending energy on tasks that have zero eternal value.
Christ as the Ultimate Center: Regardless of your career, business, political office, or academic field, Jesus Christ must remain the absolute center of your ambitions. Every career decision, investment, and personal plan must be submitted to His lordship and aligned with His eternal vision.
In 1 Corinthians 9:26, Paul wrote: “I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air.” Stop shadow-boxing! Bring your physical body, desires, and daily schedule under subjection so that you run with absolute clarity, certainty, and divine precision.
IV. PRAYER & CONFESSION
Dear Father, I thank You for setting before me an eternal, glorious calling and a heavenly purpose in Christ Jesus.
I declare that my mind is focused, my heart is steadfast, and my eyes are fixed squarely on You. I lay aside every weight, distraction, past achievement, and regret that seeks to slow me down.
I subject my body, mind, and ambitions to the authority of Your Word. I press toward the mark with courage, faith, and determination, running my race victoriously to win the incorruptible prize, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
V. BIBLE TEXT & FURTHER STUDY
Hebrews 12:2 (KJV)
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Spiritual Insight: The Greek word for “looking unto” (aphorō) means to turn your gaze away from everything else and fix it intently on a single object. True faith requires intentionally tuning out worldly distractions to gaze continually on Christ.
1 Corinthians 9:24–27 (KJV)
“Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”
Spiritual Insight: Running to win requires temperance—self-control and discipline in all areas of life. Believers must actively discipline their flesh so their spiritual focus remains sharp and uncompromised.

1-Year Bible Reading Plan
2 Corinthians 3:7–18 & 2 Corinthians 4:1–18; Proverbs 16–17

2 Corinthians 3:7–18 & 4:1–18:
Chapter 3: Paul contrasts the glorious ministry of the Law (engraved on stone) with the far more glorious ministry of the Spirit. While Moses had to veil his face because Israel could not look at its fading glory, believers behold the glory of the Lord with unveiled faces, being transformed into His image from glory to glory.
Chapter 4: Paul declares that having received this ministry, he does not faint or walk in craftiness. If the gospel is hidden, it is hidden to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this world has blinded. Paul emphasizes that believers hold this spiritual treasure in earthen vessels so the extraordinary power belongs to God. Though troubled, perplexed, persecuted, and struck down, believers are not destroyed. He concludes that light, momentary afflictions produce an eternal weight of glory, as we look not at temporal, visible things, but at eternal, unseen realities.
Proverbs 16–17:
Proverbs 16: Teaches that the plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. Emphasizes that pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. Notes that committed works are established by the Lord, pleasant words are like a honeycomb, and a slow-to-anger person is better than the mighty.
Proverbs 17: Highlights peace, wisdom, and speech. Teaches that a dry morsel with quietness is better than a house full of feasting with strife. Notes that the refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests hearts. Declares that a friend loves at all times, a brother is born for adversity, and a merry heart does good like medicine, while a broken spirit dries the bones.
2-Year Bible Reading Plan
1 Thessalonians 5:1–11 & Jeremiah 23
1 Thessalonians 5:1–11: Paul writes concerning the times and seasons, reminding believers that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night upon the unprepared. However, believers are children of light and of the day, not of darkness or night. Therefore, they must stay awake, sober, and put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation, encouraging and building up one another in Christ.
Jeremiah 23: God pronounces woe upon the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of His pasture. He promises to gather the remnant of His flock and raise up righteous shepherds over them. God gives a glorious Messianic prophecy: He will raise up for David a righteous Branch—a King who will reign wisely and execute justice, named “THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS” (Jehovah Tsidkenu). The rest of the chapter contains a fierce indictment against false prophets who speak visions from their own hearts, steal God’s words from one another, and deceive the people with false dreams.
VII. PROPHETIC DECREE
I decree and declare that on this Saturday, September 5, 2026, your eyes are single, your heart is fixed, and your mind is completely aligned with God’s purpose!
Every distraction, weight, worldly pressure, and demonic side-attraction assigned to siphon your spiritual energy is severed from your path!
You receive fresh discipline, spiritual stamina, and divine clarity to discipline your body and run your race with unshakeable certainty!
You will not sprint in vain, you will not run off course, and you will finish your assigned race with immense joy, bringing eternal glory to the Name of Jesus Christ! Amen! Hallelujah!
