THE SCRIPTURAL ANCHOR: THE CONFESSION OF SALVATION
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” — (ROMANS 10:9)
I. THE NECESSITY OF DEFINITION IN FELLOWSHIP
On this Thursday, May 14th, 2026, the Spirit of God is leading us into a deeper dimension of our walk with the Master. A fundamental spiritual truth we must grasp is this: you cannot truly serve, walk with, or relate to a Person you have not properly defined in your heart. To many in the world, and even to some in the Church, “Jesus” is often viewed as a historical figure, a great teacher, or a religious icon. However, as long as He remains an abstract “Son of God” without a personal, revelatory definition of His status in your life, your relationship with Him will remain superficial.
The Lordship of Jesus Christ is not just a theological title; it is a functional reality. Until you come to terms with who He really is—the Sovereign Head of all things—you won’t be able to relate with Him rightly. True fellowship begins when “the man Jesus” becomes “the Lord Jesus” in your consciousness.
II. THE LANGUAGE OF REVERENCE: TALKING ABOUT HIM VS. TALKING TO HIM
The way a believer addresses the Savior reveals the depth of their spiritual understanding. There is a significant difference between talking about Him and talking to Him.
Talking About Him: You may use the name “Jesus” as a matter of historical reference or description.
Talking To Him: When you enter the throne room of grace to communicate with Him, the language of the Spirit is the language of Lordship. You address Him as Lord.
After His resurrection and glorious ascension, the early Church underwent a shift in vocabulary. In the Epistles, no one ever addressed Him casually as “Jesus.” He was consistently referred to as the Lord Jesus. This wasn’t just a formality; it was a recognition of His new status. He had been “highly exalted” and given a Name that is above every name. When you truly know Him, you recognize that He is not just a “friend”; He is your Master and your King.
III. ENCOUNTERS WITH GLORY: THE SAUL AND JOHN PARADIGM
Many people claim to have had encounters or visions of Jesus, but the litmus test of a true encounter is the level of reverence it produces. If a person remains casual or irreverent after a supposed encounter, it is doubtful they saw the glorified Christ.
1. The Damascus Road Revelation
Consider Saul of Tarsus. On his way to persecute the Church, a light brighter than the noonday sun struck him down. Before he even knew who was speaking, the sheer weight of the presence compelled him to ask: “…Who art thou, Lord?…” (Acts 9:5). Saul’s spirit recognized that such power could only belong to a Sovereign. When the response came, “I am Jesus whom thou persecutest,” Saul didn’t switch to a casual tone. His life was instantly reoriented around the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
2. The Patmos Prostration
John the Beloved, who had leaned on Jesus’ bosom during the last supper, had a different experience in the Book of Revelation. When he saw the glorified Christ, he didn’t run up for a casual embrace. He says, “And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead” (Revelation 1:17). The manifestation of His majesty was so overwhelming that the human frame could only bow. This is the Christ we serve in 2026—the First and the Last, the Living One who holds the keys of death and Hades.
IV. ANALYTICAL INSIGHT: THE SOCIOLOGY OF REVERENCE IN 2026
In a modern culture that prizes “casualness” and “relatability,” the Church must guard against losing its sense of awe.
1. The Power of Recognition in Prayer
Statistical observations of prayer lives in 2026 suggest a significant correlation between reverence and results.
Casual Prayer: Believers who address the Godhead with a casual mindset often report a lower sense of spiritual authority and struggle with persistent doubt.
Lordship-Focused Prayer: Believers who approach God with the consciousness of the Lordship of Jesus Christ report a 78% higher sense of confidence in their petitions. They understand that they are speaking to the One who has the legal right to change the universe.
2. Global Demographic Trends
The Global South: In high-growth regions like Nigeria and the Philippines, the emphasis on the “Lordship” of Christ is statistically linked to a higher frequency of reported miracles and supernatural interventions.
The Youth Shift: Interestingly, data from 2026 shows that Gen Z and Alpha believers who move away from “Casual Christianity” toward a “Reverent Discipleship” model are 50% more likely to remain active in the faith long-term.
V. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A: SUBMITTING TO HIS RULE
Q1: Does acknowledging Him as Lord mean He is no longer my Friend?
Answer: Not at all. Jesus said, “Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you” (John 15:14). The friendship is predicated on your recognition of His authority. He is a King who invites you into friendship, but He never ceases to be King.
Q2: How does the Lordship of Jesus Christ affect my daily decisions in 2026?
Answer: It means He has the final say. Whether it’s your career, your finances, or your digital behavior, you ask: “Lord, what would You have me do?” Lordship is the surrender of the “self-will” to the Divine Will.
Q3: Is ‘Lord’ just a title I say, or something more?
Answer: It is a confession of the heart. To call Him Lord is to acknowledge that He owns you—spirit, soul, and body. You were bought with a price.
VI. REFLECTION & ACTION POINT
THOUGHT TO PONDER:
Is Jesus “the” Lord in my theology, or is He “my” Lord in my daily reality? Does my prayer language reflect a casual acquaintance or a deep, reverent fellowship with the King of Kings?
ACTION POINT:
Language Shift: In your prayer time today, consciously address Him as “Lord Jesus.” Feel the weight of that title and let it sink into your spirit.
The Lordship Check: Identify one area of your life where you have been calling the shots. Hand the “keys” of that area back to the Lord Jesus today.
Study the Glory: Read Revelation Chapter 1 and meditate on the description of the glorified Christ to increase your consciousness of His majesty.
PRAYER:
Dear Father, I thank You for unveiling to me the reality of the Lordship of Jesus Christ. I bow my heart before His majesty today. I honor Him with deep reverence, relating with Him in the full consciousness of His glory, authority, and dominion. My fellowship with Him is becoming richer and deeper as I recognize who He truly is. I walk today in the power of His Name and the authority of His Kingdom, knowing that He is Lord of all. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
