I. THE ULTIMATE ARGUMENT SETTLER
As we begin this new week on Monday, April 6th, 2026, the Holy Spirit is drawing our attention to an event that is often overshadowed by the Cross and the Resurrection, yet it remains the “capstone” of our faith: The Ascension.
In John 6, when the Jews were murmuring and questioning the Lord’s divine origin—struggling to grasp how the man they knew as the son of Mary could claim to be the “Bread from Heaven”—Jesus threw a prophetic challenge at them. He didn’t just point to His miracles; He pointed to His departure. He asked, “What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?”
He knew that the Ascension would be the “Wonder of Wonders”—the undeniable, visual confirmation that He was not of this world. It was the final evidence that silenced every critic and stopped every mouth.
II. WHEN EVERYTHING CHANGED: THE SIBLING REVELATION
One of the most striking details of the Gospel narrative is that the biological siblings of Jesus did not believe in Him during His earthly ministry. Can you imagine that? They grew up in the same house, ate at the same table, and watched Him live a sinless life, yet they remained skeptical. Even after reports of the Resurrection began to circulate, some still wavered.
1. From the Living Room to the Upper Room
But on the day of His Ascension, something tectonic shifted. As they stood on the Mount of Olives and watched Him—their brother—suddenly levitate, defy the laws of gravity, and be received into a cloud, the veil was finally torn from their eyes.
They realized that the One who lived under their roof was not just a relative; He was God Himself. * The skeptics became seekers.
Acts 1:9–14 tells us that after the Ascension, His brothers (James, Joses, Simon, and Judas) didn’t go back to their carpentry or their old lives. They followed the eleven apostles to the Upper Room.
They stayed in one accord in prayer and supplication, alongside Mary their mother, until the Holy Spirit was poured out. The Ascension turned His biological family into His spiritual disciples.
III. THE MYSTERY OF GODLINESS: RECEIVED UP INTO GLORY
1 Timothy 3:16 describes the Ascension as part of the “Mystery of Godliness.” It says He was “received up into glory.” This wasn’t a ghostly disappearance or a metaphor. It was a bodily, physical transition from the earthly realm to the heavenly throne.
-
The Ascension proved He was the Lord of Heaven and the First and the Last.
It assures us that there is a Man—the Man Christ Jesus—currently seated at the right hand of the Father. He is the “True God and Eternal Life,” and His position in heaven is the legal guarantee of our own place in glory.
IV. THE PROMISE OF THE RETURN
The Ascension is not just a “goodbye”; it is a “see you later.” In Acts 1:11, the angels asked the disciples, “Why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus… shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”
The same physical body that ascended is the one that is returning. This reality should dictate how we live in 2026. We aren’t serving a dead hero or a distant memory. We serve a King who is actively reigning and is physically returning. The “Wonder of Wonders” isn’t just that He left, but that He is coming back for a Church without spot or wrinkle.
V. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A: UNDERSTANDING THE ASCENSION
Q1: Why was the Ascension necessary? Couldn’t He have stayed on earth forever?
Answer: Jesus told His disciples in John 16:7, “It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you.” The Ascension was the trigger for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. By ascending, Jesus moved from being “God with us” to “God in us” through the Spirit.
Q2: Did Jesus lose His human body when He entered the cloud?
Answer: No. He was “received up into glory” in His glorified, physical body. He remains the “Son of Man” in heaven, acting as our Great High Priest. This is why the angels said He would return “in like manner”—meaning, in the same physical, glorified form.
Q3: How does the Ascension impact my daily life in 2026?
Answer: Because He is ascended and seated, Ephesians 2:6 says we are seated with Him. You are operating from a position of authority. When you pray in His Name, you are speaking from the Throne Room. The “Wonder of Wonders” gives you legal backing for every decree you make on earth.
VI. REFLECTION & PROPHETIC PRAYER
THOUGHT TO PONDER:
If His biological family had to see the Ascension to believe, what “wonders” is God performing in my life today to prove His reality to those around me? Your life should be a “wonder” that stops the mouths of skeptics.
PROPHETIC DECREE FOR APRIL 6, 2026:
I decree that this week, you are operating from the “Ascension Dimension!” Every gravity of the earth—the gravity of debt, the gravity of sickness, and the gravity of depression—is broken off your life! Because He ascended, you are rising! I decree that those who doubted your calling and your God will see the “Wonder of Wonders” in your testimony and be forced to acknowledge that Jesus is Lord!
PRAYER:
How glorious You are, O Lord! My faith in You is eternal, for You’re the only true God, proven by Your resurrection from the dead and Your glorious ascension into heaven, where You live forevermore. I am seated with You in heavenly places, far above all principalities and powers. I proclaim Your majesty and live with the consciousness that You reign forever as King of kings and Lord of lords. My life is a testament to Your glory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
