THE RAIN OF ABUNDANCE

[47] And in the seven plenteous years the earth brought forth by handfuls. [48] And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: the food of the field, which was round about every city, laid he up in the same. [49] And Joseph gathered corn as the sand of the sea, very much, until he left numbering; for it was without number.
I. THE THEOLOGY OF DIVINE VISITATION
Happy New Year! By the special grace of God, you have been ushered into the year 2026. The fact that you are reading this is a testament to God’s mercy and His intentionality concerning your life. As we begin this year, the Spirit of God directs our attention to Psalm 65:9. This verse reveals a profound truth: the earth’s productivity is directly linked to God’s visitation.
When God visits the earth, He doesn’t come empty-handed. He comes to water it. The “River of God” mentioned in the text is not a physical river; it is a spiritual supply that is “full of water.” This means that in 2026, there is no shortage in Heaven. If there is any dryness in your life, it is not because the River is empty, but because a “visitation” is required. Today, as we pray, we are inviting that River to overflow into your family, your business, and your spiritual life.
II. THE JOSEPH PRINCIPLE: ABUNDANCE WITHOUT NUMBER
Our Bible reading in Genesis 41 takes us to the season of “plenteous years” in Egypt. Notice the language used in verse 47: “the earth brought forth by handfuls.” This describes a level of productivity where the effort is minimal but the harvest is explosive.
Joseph gathered corn until he “left numbering.” There is a level of blessing God wants to bring you into in 2026 where you stop counting because the supply has exceeded your ability to calculate.
- It is the “Overflow” dimension.
- It is the “As the sand of the sea” dimension.
- It is the “Beyond Number” dimension.
However, this abundance was not for waste; it was for “laying up.” As you pray for abundance today, also ask for the wisdom of Joseph to manage the “showers of blessing” that are coming your way.
III. THE PRIORITY OF THE NEW YEAR: LOVE AND SERVICE
Before we ask for the “corn,” we must address the “Cornerstone.” The primary goal for 2026 must be to love God more than ever before. Abundance without a deep relationship with the Giver of the harvest is a trap.
Total dedication and devotion are the keys to sustaining an Open Heaven. When you put God first, you don’t have to chase blessings; blessings will chase you. This year, resolve to serve Him with all your heart, soul, and might. Let your soul-winning fire burn brighter, and let your compassion for the needy be a reflection of Christ’s heart in you.
2026 PRAYER DECREES
THANKSGIVING: Father, I thank You for the gift of life and for bringing me into 2026. I am grateful for Your protection and provision throughout 2025. Thank You for the battles You fought for me in secret.
PRIORITY: Father, help me to love You more than ever before this year. I receive the grace to put You first in my finances, my time, and my decisions. Uproot anything in my heart that was not planted by You, in Jesus’ name.
DEVOTION: Lord, help me to be completely dedicated and devoted to You. I refuse to be a “part-time” Christian. Help me to serve You with my whole being this year, in Jesus’ name.
FAVOUR: Father, I command this year 2026 to favour me! I decree that the elements of this year shall work together for my good. Visit me and my loved ones with Your rain of ease, speed, and abundance, in Jesus’ name.
OVERFLOW: Lord, let my “earth” bring forth good fruits in abundance. Like Joseph, let me experience a harvest that is “beyond numbering.” Cause me to enjoy the overflow of Your blessings throughout the year, in Jesus’ name.
JOY: Lord, give me and my family joy unspeakable. I shut the door against every spirit of mourning or sorrow. No bad news shall cross my threshold this year, in Jesus’ name.
THE CHURCH: Lord, multiply Your church and make her stronger. We receive victory over every attack of the adversary. Let Your fire consume every plant that is not of God in the body of Christ, in Jesus’ name.
COMPASSION: Father, fill me with compassion for the hurting. Use me as Your hand of comfort and Your voice of hope to the needy in 2026, in Jesus’ name.
GREATER WORKS: Father, help me to win souls more than ever before. Use me to perform “greater works” as You promised in Your Word. Let my life be a theatre of Your miracles this year, in Jesus’ name.
ESTABLISHMENT: Father, let all Your promises for my life in 2026 be fulfilled. I refuse to see any “unfulfilled” word. Let Your plans for my destiny be established and settled, in Jesus’ name.
WISDOM: Father, grant me the wisdom of Joseph. Give me a clear understanding of Your will and the strategy to navigate every season of this year successfully, in Jesus’ name.
