A Pursuit of Abundant Excellence

MESSAGE:The Divine Call to Abundant Life
Heaven is not just calling for existence; it is crying out for excellence and the very best in every aspect of your life and ministry. It is a divine mandate to live a life that is not just good, but exceptional. This pursuit of excellence is not born of human pride but of a deep understanding of our identity in Christ and the abundant life He came to give us.
In John 10:10, Jesus makes a profound statement: “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” He didn’t just promise us a better life; He promised us an abundant life. The Greek word for “abundant” here is perissos, which means “exceeding, beyond the ordinary, more than enough, superior.” This is not a life of mediocrity; it is a life of spiritual, mental, and physical overflow.
God, the ultimate creator, has always been a specialist at going for the best. He created the cosmos with a level of precision and detail that scientists are still trying to comprehend. He created man as the pinnacle of His creation, imbuing us with an intellect so vast that scientists are still only scratching the surface of our brain’s capabilities. You are a product of specialty! To settle for anything less than excellence is to dishonor the very nature of your Creator.
A Vision for Excellence in Every Task
The pursuit of excellence is not limited to a select few; it is for all believers in every walk of life. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a man who understood the power of vision and purpose, eloquently captured this idea in his famous speeches. He urged black people to defy the curse of racism by becoming the best in whatever they did. His powerful words serve as a timeless challenge to us all:
“If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, ‘here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.'”
This is the essence of abundant excellence. It’s not about the size of the task, but the spirit in which it is done. It is a mindset that transcends the mundane and elevates every task—whether it’s preaching, praying, studying, giving, or sweeping a street—into an act of worship. Apostle Paul had a similar passion for the best, striving always to present himself approved to God, a workman who does not need to be ashamed (2 Timothy 2:15).
The Danger of Mediocrity and the Call to Grow
The question God is asking each of us today is this: “Don’t you think you can be more and increase from where you are?” This question is not a rebuke but a call to action. It is a loving nudge from a Father who knows your full potential. Where you are now is not your best!
Many people are content to dwell in laziness and mediocrity, accepting their current state as their final destination. They have forgotten that life is a journey of continuous growth and development. The Proverbs tell us to go to the ant, consider her ways, and be wise—to avoid the slumber of the sluggard (Proverbs 6:6-11). There is no room for laziness in the life of a Christian who is called to abundant life.
To move from where you are to where you are meant to be, you must make a conscious decision to pursue growth. This means buying books, listening to inspiring and educational CDs, and actively developing yourself in every area of your life. The world is full of knowledge and resources waiting to be tapped, and it is our responsibility to seek them out.
Never Quit: The Best Is Yet to Come
Life is often compared to a good book. The further you get into it, the more it begins to make sense. You cannot judge a book by its first chapter. Similarly, you cannot judge your life by your current circumstances. The best is yet to come, but you must keep turning the pages. You must pursue it daily and NEVER QUIT!
Your journey to a life of abundant excellence is not a sprint; it is a marathon. There will be obstacles, setbacks, and moments of doubt. But remember, you are a product of specialty, called to a life of abundance. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, empowering you to achieve the impossible.
So, get into life! Pursue excellence in all you do. Dedicate yourself to becoming a better person, a better servant, a better leader, and a better Christian. When you do this, you will become a great delight, a testament to the abundant life that Jesus came to give you.
PRAYER POINTS:
- O breath of excellence, fall on me as you fell on Daniel. O ABUNDANT LIFE, manifest more in me, in Jesus’ name.
- I refuse to dwell in LAZINESS/mediocrity, in Jesus’ name.
- I shall attract ALL-ROUND EXCELLENCE in this second half of 2025, in Jesus’ name. (Pray this seriously for two days).
