THE STONE HAS BEEN ROLLED AWAY: OVERCOMING THE BARRIERS OF IMPOSSIBILITY

I. THE ANATOMY OF AN OBSTACLE

As we navigate this Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the Holy Spirit is directing our hearts to a scenario that perfectly mirrors the human struggle with perceived “impossibilities.” In Mark 16, we find Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome embarking on a mission of love. They were carrying spices to anoint the body of Jesus.

However, mid-journey, they were struck by a cold reality: The Stone. The stone at the mouth of the sepulchre was not a mere pebble; it was a massive, circular slab of rock, sealed by Roman authority and specifically designed to keep people out and keep the “dead” in. In their own strength, those women had zero chance of moving it. This stone represents the “Goliaths” in your life today—the massive barriers that stand between your current reality and your God-given goals.

II. THE PSYCHOLOGY OF PERSISTENCE

Observe the conversation in verse 3: “And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone…?” They had several logical reasons to turn back:

1: The Option of Retreat: They could have gone home, citing the stone as a “sign” that it wasn’t meant to be.

2: The Option of Delay: They could have stopped to look for men to help them.

3: The Option of Abandonment: They could have simply wept at the gate.

But they pressed on. They didn’t wait for the solution to appear before they started moving. They walked toward the problem with their spices in hand. Many believers fail to see “rolled-away stones” because they refuse to start the journey until the road is clear. God often waits for your first step of faith before He sends His angel to provide the breakthrough.

III. THE POWER OF “LOOKING UP”

Verse 4 contains a spiritual secret that changes everything: “And when they looked up, they saw that the stone was rolled away…”

1. The Downward Gaze vs. The Upward Gaze

When we are overwhelmed by problems—be it a stagnant business, a delayed marriage, or a health crisis—our natural tendency is to “look down” at the difficulty. We stare at the “large stone” until it consumes our vision. But the moment these women “looked up,” their perspective shifted from the problem to the Providence of God.

When you look up through:

  • Bible Study: You see the promises that negate the problem.

  • Meditation: You see the greatness of God compared to the smallness of the stone.

  • Prayer: You invite the “Angel of the Lord” into your situation.

You will often discover that while you were worrying about the “how,” God had already finished the “do.” The stone was already rolled away!

IV. THE PRECEDING GOD: BREAKING THE GATES OF BRASS

The miracle of the rolled-away stone is the New Testament manifestation of the promise in Isaiah 45:2: “I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass…”

What project are you currently fearing?

  • The Business: You fear the “stone” of lack of capital.

  • The Building: You fear the “stone” of rising costs.

  • The Career: You fear the “stone” of a glass ceiling.

The Lord is saying to you this Tuesday: I have gone ahead of you. If you prayerfully commit your plans into His hands, acknowledging Him in all your ways (Proverbs 3:6), you will arrive at the site of your “impossible” task only to find that the obstacle has been moved by a hand you cannot see.

V. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A: NAVIGATING THE “STONE” SEASONS

Q1: Why did God wait until they got there before showing them the stone was moved?

Answer: It was a test of their devotion. If they had seen the moved stone from their house, their journey wouldn’t have required faith. God often reveals the miracle at the “point of contact” to ensure that He gets the glory for your persistence and trust.

Q2: What if the stone in my life is ‘sealed’ by people in authority?

Answer: The stone at Jesus’ grave was sealed by the Roman government and guarded by soldiers. No human “seal” or “policy” can withstand the earthquake of God’s power. When the Angel of the Lord descends, the “guards” (the opposition) will become as dead men.

Q3: Does ‘looking up’ mean I should ignore the practical reality of my problems?

Answer: No. Faith is not the denial of reality; it is the invitation of a Higher Reality. The women knew the stone was “very large,” but they chose to prioritize God’s ability over the stone’s size. Acknowledge the problem, but focus on the Problem-Solver.

VI. REFLECTION & PROPHETIC PRAYER

THOUGHT TO PONDER:

Am I standing still because I’m waiting for the stone to move, or am I moving in faith, trusting that God has already gone ahead of me?

PROPHETIC DECREE FOR APRIL 7, 2026:

I decree today that every “large stone” placed by the enemy to block your progress is being rolled away by the power of the Holy Spirit! Every “No” that has been shouted at your destiny is being converted into a supernatural “Yes!” I command the “crooked places” in your finances and health to be made straight. Because you have chosen to “look up” this morning, you shall find the way open, the gates broken, and the path clear for your next level, in Jesus’ Name!

PRAYER:

O God, give me the courage to continue in the face of obvious opposition. I refuse to be discouraged by the size of the stone. I commit my projects, my family, and my aspirations into Your hands. I believe that You have gone before me to level the mountains. I look up to You today, my Source and my Deliverer. Thank You for the miracles of rolled-away stones that await me today. Amen.
