MESSAGE:The Divine Rhythm of Time: A New Day, A New Opportunity

Beloved, we awaken each morning to a profound and consistent miracle: a new day. Yesterday has gone; it will never come again. Tomorrow shall be another new day. As long as we live, there shall always be a new day. This simple yet profound truth, often taken for granted, holds deep spiritual significance for the believer.

According to the scriptures, God is the Maker of each new day, and each day is peculiar in its own way, never truly like yesterday. That is why it is called a “new day” – because it is unique in every aspect, fresh from the hands of our Creator. This foundational truth is powerfully declared in our memory verse: “This is the day which the LORD hath made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24).

This verse isn’t just a cheerful affirmation; it’s a theological statement about God’s awesome, wonder-working power. It testifies that God’s creative might isn’t limited to the beginning of time or the grand cosmic acts. Rather, it is actively at work in the moment-by-moment unfolding of existence. Every sunrise, every tick of the clock, every new breath we take is a testament to His ongoing, dynamic power. This divine capability by all means surpasses human abilities and comprehension. We cannot create a single moment of time, much less an entire day with its unique atmospheric conditions, opportunities, and challenges. The only thing we can do is simply accept this divine manifestation, acknowledge the Giver of time, and enjoy the richness of each day and its inherent uniqueness.

God’s Daily Provisions: A Package of Divine Benefits

Beyond the sheer marvel of daily creation, our God, in His infinite wisdom and boundless love, ensures that each new day always comes with its unique divine package. The Psalmist, in another passage, beautifully articulates this truth: “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits, even the God of our salvation” (Psalm 68:19). This implies that God knows our needs for each new day that unfolds before us. He is Omniscient, meaning He knows everything – past, present, and future. As such, He knows everything ahead of us and makes precise provisions for us to have not just enough, but often abundance, for whatever that day holds.

Consider this: before you ever wake, before your thoughts even begin to form, God has already surveyed the landscape of your day. He knows the challenges you might face, the decisions you’ll need to make, the strength you’ll require, the comfort you’ll seek, and the specific graces you’ll need to navigate its intricacies. And in His meticulous care, He has already prepared a “package” of divine benefits tailored precisely for you. This package might include:

• Physical sustenance: Food, water, shelter.
• Emotional resilience: Peace in the midst of chaos, joy in sorrow.
• Spiritual insight: Wisdom for decisions, discernment for situations.
• Relational grace: Favor with people, reconciliation, harmonious interactions.
• Protection: Shielding from seen and unseen dangers.
• Opportunity: Open doors for ministry, service, or personal growth.

This is the glorious portion of those who believe in Him and have confessed Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Such people never lack because Jehovah Jireh (the Lord Who Provides) is eternally in charge of their lives. He has promised to lead us daily to the green pastures and the still waters, as the beloved Psalm 23 so eloquently puts it. Under His leading and guidance, we are well nourished, refreshed, and our souls are restored. He also sets a table of good and glorious things before us, even in the presence of our enemies (Psalm 23:5). What an incredible privilege to feed from the table of the Lord, receiving daily provisions that sustain not just our bodies, but our spirits and souls!

The Privilege of Divine Guidance: Not By Might, Not By Power

Beloved, in a world that often champions self-reliance and personal ambition, it is crucial to humbly acknowledge that you cannot live your life all by yourself. You absolutely need divine guidance, which is an assured privilege of every true child of God. Do not be deceived by the superficial appearance that others seem to live and make something significant out of life purely through their own efforts. While God grants common grace to all humanity, empowering them with skills and opportunities, the true child of God operates under a different, higher covenant.

For you, as a child of God, you are granted the unparalleled assurance that you can sleep and wake with the profound certainty that every day is a day of rejoicing and gladness. This isn’t based on circumstances, but on the unwavering character and promises of God. This joy isn’t a fleeting emotion; it’s a deep, settled conviction rooted in:

1. God’s Sovereignty: He is the Maker of the day, therefore He is sovereign over every event within it.
2. God’s Presence: He walks with us through every moment, ensuring we are never alone.
3. God’s Promises: His Word is full of promises for provision, protection, and peace for His children.

Reclaiming Our Day: Rejecting the Enemy’s Agenda

Our spiritual enemies, however, do not want us to rejoice and be glad in the day the Lord has made. They seek to steal our joy, to fill our days with anxiety, fear, sickness, conflict, and failure. This is why our prayer points are not just passive requests but active declarations of faith and warfare.

Every day presents a battleground, a spiritual tension between God’s benevolent plan and the enemy’s destructive agenda. Therefore, it is imperative that we actively engage in spiritual warfare, crushing and destroying every agenda of wickedness for this day in the Name of Jesus. The devil and his cohorts operate through spiritual forces of darkness (Ephesians 6:12), seeking to sow discord, discouragement, temptation, and destruction. But the believer, empowered by the Holy Spirit and standing on God’s Word, has the authority to dismantle these evil schemes.

When we declare, “Every agenda of wickedness for this day, be crushed and be destroyed, in the Name of Jesus,” we are:

• Exercising our authority in Christ: Reminding the enemy of his defeat at Calvary.
• Invoking divine protection: Asking God to shield us and our loved ones from harm.
• Claiming God’s perfect will: Aligning ourselves with His desire for our good and His glory in our lives.

From Rejection to Rejoicing: The Cornerstone of Our Hope (Psalm 118:21-23)

To truly appreciate the depth of “This is the day the Lord has made,” we must understand its context within Psalm 118. David, the psalmist, starts with a declaration of thanksgiving: “I will give thanks to you because you have answered me and have become my salvation.” (Psalm 118:21). This isn’t abstract praise; it’s born from a personal experience of God’s intervention and deliverance.

Then comes the prophetic declaration: “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This came from the Lord; it is wondrous in our sight.” (Psalm 118:22-23). This verse is one of the most significant messianic prophecies in the Old Testament, directly quoted and applied to Jesus Christ by both Peter (Acts 4:11) and Paul (Ephesians 2:20). Jesus was indeed the “stone that the builders (the religious leaders of His day) rejected,” but God exalted Him to be the “cornerstone” – the most important, foundational stone in the entire spiritual edifice of His church.

The “day” in Psalm 118:24 is often understood primarily as the day of Christ’s resurrection. It was on that day that the rejected stone became the glorious cornerstone. It was on that day that God dramatically intervened, turning defeat into victory, sorrow into joy, and death into life. It was the ultimate demonstration of God’s “wonder-working power.”

Therefore, when we declare, “This is the day the Lord has made; let’s rejoice and be glad in it,” we are not just celebrating any given 24-hour period. We are celebrating the resurrection victory of Jesus Christ, which underpins every blessing and every new beginning in our lives. Because He rose, we can rejoice! Because He is the cornerstone, our lives have stability and purpose! Every new day is a fresh opportunity to live out the implications of His resurrection in our lives.

Living in Daily Gratitude and Expectation

Our response to this divine reality should be one of perpetual gratitude and joyful expectation.

Gratitude (Psalm 118:21): “I will give thanks to you because you have answered me and have become my salvation.” Start each day with thanksgiving. A grateful heart is a fertile ground for more blessings. Thank God for the new day, for His mercies that are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23), and for His unfailing presence.

Rejoicing and Gladness (Psalm 118:24): This is a command, not merely a suggestion. It is a choice to align our emotions with God’s truth, regardless of circumstances. We rejoice not because everything is perfect, but because God is perfect, and He is the Maker of the day.

Calling for Salvation and Success (Psalm 118:25): “Lord, save us! Lord, please grant us success!” This shows dependence. While we rejoice, we also acknowledge our need for His continuous help and blessing. “Save us” (Hebrew: hosanna) is a plea for deliverance and salvation. “Grant us success” is a prayer for divine favor and prosperity in our endeavors.

Blessing His Name and His People (Psalm 118:26): “He who comes in the name of the Lord is blessed. From the house of the Lord we bless you.” We bless God, and we extend blessings to others. This verse also prophetically points to Jesus, who came “in the name of the Lord” and is eternally blessed.

Conclusion: Our Daily Affirmation of Faith

The message of “The Day The Lord Has Made” is a powerful daily affirmation for every believer. It invites us to:

Let us live each day with this profound understanding. As we wake up, let our first thought be: “This is a gift. This is the day the Lord has made.” And let our response be a resounding chorus of joy, gratitude, and confident expectation in the One who holds all time in His hands.
