THE CHRISTIAN CAN’T BE CURSED: THE DOCTRINE OF ETERNAL IMMUNITY

I. THE MYTH OF THE VULNERABLE BELIEVER
As we begin this new week in March 2026, many people are griping about the circumstances of their lives. There is a pervasive fear in the world—and unfortunately, within some sections of the Church—that the reason things aren’t working out is due to a hidden “curse.” People go from place to place seeking deliverance from family curses, ancestral curses, or “voodoo” spells cast by enemies.
However, if you are a Christian, the Word of God is absolute: You cannot be cursed. This isn’t a motivational speech; it is a legal, spiritual reality. No family curse, no ancestral limitation, and no incantation from the kingdom of darkness has the power to work against you. The moment you were born again, you were transferred out of the jurisdiction where curses operate and into the Kingdom of God’s dear Son. In this new realm, only blessings are permitted to work, prevail, and produce results in your life.
II. THE NEW CREATURE PROTOCOL
The reason a Christian cannot be cursed is found in the nature of their birth. 2 Corinthians 5:17 declares, “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature…” This “new creature” is a species that never existed before. You didn’t just have your “old self” repaired; you were brought into a new type of existence that is superior to Satan and all his works.
Consider the prophetic decree in Numbers 23:23:
“Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel…”
If this was true for the shadow (Israel under the old covenant), how much more for the reality (the Church under the new covenant)? It makes no difference if a witch doctor threatened you or if a voodoo priest spoke words against your name. Enchantments and divinations require a “target” that is susceptible to them. As a new creature, your life is “hid with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:3). The enemy cannot find a spiritual “hook” to hang a curse on.
III. THE POWER OF ACCURATE KNOWLEDGE
Why then do some Christians live as though they are under a curse? The answer is simple: Truth unknown is powerless.
You can be a legal heir to a billion dollars, but if you believe you are a pauper, you will live and die in poverty. Truth known is what puts you over. Jesus said in John 8:32, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Freedom is not something you are waiting for God to “do”; freedom is something you possess that you must “know.
The Enforcement Question:
If you were truly cursed, who would enforce it?
The Devil? You have been given power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). You have more power than the devil and all his demons combined.
God? God is your Father. He would never supervise or authorize a curse against His own child. He has already blessed you with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places (Ephesians 1:3).
IV. THE ONLY “CURSE” LEFT: DISDAIN FOR THE WORD
The only way a Christian can experience the effects of a curse is by stepping out from the covering of divine truth. This happens when a believer ignores, rejects, or despises the Word of God.
Proverbs 13:13 warns, “Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed…” When you ignore God’s instructions on how to live, walk, and speak, you aren’t being “cursed” by a demon; you are simply reaping the destruction that comes from living outside of Truth. But as long as you are yielded to the Spirit and guided by the Word, you are untouchable.
V. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A: WALKING IN LIBERTY
Q1: Do I need someone to “break” a generational curse for me?
Answer: No. Galatians 3:13 says, “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us.” The “break” happened at Calvary. You don’t need a “deliverance session” to lift a curse; you need a “Bible study session” to renew your mind to the fact that it is already gone.
Q2: What should I do if a relative tells me our family is cursed with a specific illness?
Answer: You must respond with the Word. Your “family” changed when you were born again. You are now of the lineage of Christ. Respond by saying, “That may be the history of that bloodline, but I have a new bloodline now. I inherit the blessing of Abraham, and in Christ, I am free!”
Q3: Why do things still go “wrong” sometimes?
Answer: Challenges are not curses. Challenges are bread for the eater. They are opportunities for you to exercise your faith and demonstrate the victory of the Word. Don’t call a trial a “curse”; call it an opportunity for glory!
VI. REFLECTION & CONFESSION SUITE
PROPHETIC DECLARATION:
I decree that from this Monday, March 9th, you will walk in the boldness of your inheritance! Every voice of fear is silenced. Every shadow of ancestral limitation is dissolved by the light of the Word. You are blessed in the city, blessed in the field, and everything you touch is turning into a testimony!
PRAYER:
Dear Father, thank You for the life of blessing You’ve given me in Christ. I live far above the influence of darkness, walking in the glorious liberty of Your Word. I refuse to fear the enchantments of men or the divinations of the wicked. I walk in victory and in the dominion of my righteousness in Christ, blessed and empowered to reign, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
