Terminating the Spirit of Wastage and Death

Introduction

Proverbs 10:22 “The LORD blesses the man who fears him, and those who seek his favor he will make prosperous.”

The spirit of wastage and death is a powerful force that can hinder our progress and limit our potential. It can manifest in various forms, including financial mismanagement, spiritual stagnation, and physical ailments. To overcome this destructive force, we must understand its root causes and take decisive action to break its hold on our lives.

The Root Causes of Wastage and Death

  • Sin: Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Sin is the root cause of all evil, including the spirit of wastage and death. When we yield to sin, we open ourselves up to its destructive influence.
  • Spiritual Blindness: Ephesians 4:18 “They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, due to the hardness of their hearts.” A lack of spiritual awareness and understanding can prevent us from recognizing the presence of the spirit of wastage and death in our lives.
  • Generational Curses:Exodus 20:5 “You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the iniquity of the fathers, to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me.” Inherited curses from our ancestors can also contribute to the spirit of wastage and death.

Breaking Free from the Spirit of Wastage and Death

Terminating the Spirit of Wastage and Death

To break free from the spirit of wastage and death, we must take the following steps:

  1. Repentance: Acts 3:19 “Repent, therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, and times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” Acknowledge your sins and turn away from them. Repentance is the first step towards spiritual freedom.
  2. Spiritual Warfare: Ephesians 6:10-18 Engage in spiritual warfare against the forces of darkness that are hindering your progress.
  3. Seek Deliverance: Acts 8:23 “Simon, you have a heart full of wickedness and sin. You are a child of the devil, an enemy of all that is good. Will you not repent of your wickedness?” If you believe you are under the influence of demonic forces, seek deliverance from a qualified minister.
  4. Live a Holy Life: 1 Peter 1:15-16 “But as he who called you is holy, so you also must be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy.'” Strive to live a life that is pleasing to God, avoiding sin and following His commandments.
  5. Sow Seeds of Righteousness: Galatians 6:7 “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” Sow seeds of righteousness in your life and in the lives of others. This can include giving generously, serving others, and sharing the gospel.

Specific Prayer Points

  • Break generational curses: Isaiah 44:21 “Remember these things, O Jacob, and Israel, for you are my servant; I formed you, you are my servant; do not forget me.” Pray to break any generational curses that may be affecting your life or the lives of your loved ones.
  • Repent of sins: Luke 15:18-21 Confess your sins to God and seek His forgiveness.
  • Receive deliverance: Acts 8:30-39 If you believe you are under the influence of demonic forces, seek deliverance from a qualified minister.
  • Sow seeds of righteousness: Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Commit to giving generously, serving others, and sharing the gospel.
  • Receive spiritual empowerment: Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Pray for the Holy Spirit to empower you to overcome the spirit of wastage and death.
