THE PROVIDENCE OF THE ALMIGHTY SERIES: 2026
HE PROVIDES AHEAD OF YOUR NEEDS: THE MYSTERY OF PREVENIENT GRACE
MESSAGE BY: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: DEUTERONOMY 20–22
FIRE SCRIPTURE: 1 CHRONICLES 29:11–12
MEMORY VERSE: “Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.” (PSALM 147:5)
I. THE CHRISTIAN DISTINCTIVE: INFINITE UNDERSTANDING (PSALM 147:5)
The hallmark of a believer’s security in 2026 is the realization that we serve a God who occupies the future as much as He occupies the present. Our memory verse in Psalm 147:5 reminds us that His power is great, but His understanding is infinite. This means God is never caught by surprise. He doesn’t react to crises; He prepares for them.
In a world where we often feel “behind the curve” regarding inflation, health scares, or sudden shifts in the global economy, the child of God must lean into the truth of Prevenient Grace—the grace that goes before. God is all-powerful, but that power is most mercifully seen when He provides the help we need before we even realize we have a problem. He is the God of the “Pre-emptive Strike” against the enemy’s plans.
The Survival Mandate of the Forward-Looking Believer:
To Eliminate Panic: If God is already in your tomorrow, you don’t need to fear it.
To Cultivate Awareness: The solution is often already present; we simply need the spiritual eyes to see it.
To Trust Divine Sovereignty: As 1 Chronicles 29:11–12 declares, all that is in heaven and earth is His. If He owns the terrain, He has already placed the resources you need on your path.
II. THE ROCK IN THE JUNGLE: A TESTIMONY OF PRE-POSITIONED HELP
Many years ago, when the area now known as Redemption City was a dense wilderness—over 95 percent covered in thickets and trees—I used to take long prayer walks at night. I preferred the quiet footpaths of the bush where I could be alone with God, away from any human disturbance.
One night, while I was deeply lost in prayer and communion, the Holy Spirit suddenly spoke a single, sharp command: “Stop.”
I froze. At first glance, it looked like a large log of wood lay across my path. I assumed some woodcutters had left it behind. But as I looked closer, the “log” began to move. It was a massive python, and the moment it realized it was spotted, it raised its head to strike. In that moment of life-or-death confrontation, I looked to my right. There, in the middle of a forest where stones were not common on that path, sat a large, heavy rock.
God had pre-positioned that rock long before I decided to take that walk. I used it to defend myself and kill the python.
Prophetic Decree: I decree today that for every “python” the enemy has sent to intercept your progress in 2026, the Almighty God has already placed a “rock” of deliverance within your reach!
III. BIBLICAL PRECEDENTS OF PRE-ARRANGED VICTORY
The story of the rock in the bush is not an isolated incident; it is a pattern of how the Unlimited God operates throughout history.
1. Samson’s Jawbone (Judges 15:14–15):
Before the 1,000 Philistines shouted against Samson, God did not create a weapon out of thin air. He had already allowed the jawbone of an ass to be placed in that specific spot and dried to the right consistency. It was “fresh” enough to be sturdy but ready to be used as a weapon. God prepared the supply before the battle began.
2. Israel’s Desert Fountain (Numbers 20:1–11):
Before the Israelites ever felt the parching thirst of the desert, the rock was already there. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:4 that this Rock “followed them.” God didn’t wait for them to die of thirst to start looking for water; the source was already traveling with the destination.
3. The Ram in the Thicket (Genesis 22:13):
When Abraham climbed Mount Moriah, he didn’t bring a lamb. But while he was walking up one side of the mountain with his son, God was likely leading a ram up the other side. The provision and the problem met at the exact same moment at the altar.
IV. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A: ACCESSING THE PRE-POSITIONED SOLUTION
Q1: If God has already provided the solution, why am I still struggling with my problem?
Answer: The solution is often “hidden” in plain sight. In my testimony, the rock was there, but I didn’t see its value until I stopped and looked. We often miss God’s provision because we are too busy looking at the “python.” You must ask God for Spiritual Eyesight to see the jawbone, the ram, or the rock that He has already provided.
Q2: How do I pray when I don’t know what I’ll need in the future?
Answer: You pray the prayer of trust. You say, “Father, You are the Head above all. Riches and honor come from You. Pre-position my help for the challenges of next month and next year.”
Q3: Can I forfeit my pre-positioned help?
Answer: Yes, through disobedience or lack of prayer. The hymn says, “O what peace we often forfeit… all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.” Prayer doesn’t inform God of your needs; it aligns you with the provision He has already made.
V. REFLECTION & PRAYER SUITE
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God is too merciful to let you reach a stage in life where there is no pre-arranged solution to your challenges.
HYMNAL: What a Friend We Have in Jesus — Take every trial and temptation to the Lord in prayer, for He knows our every weakness.
PRAYER POINTS:
The Purification Phase (Morning):
1: Divine Acknowledgement: Thine, O LORD, is the greatness and the power! I acknowledge You as the Head over all my affairs in 2026. (1 Chronicles 29:11).
2: Removing Scales: Father, please forgive me for the times I panicked. Open my eyes to see the solutions You have already placed in my environment.
3: Path Clearing: Lord, as I walk through the “bushes” of life, let Your Spirit speak to me to stop, move, or act at the exact right time.
The Empowerment Phase (Evening):
4: Pre-positioned Help: Father, send help to me from places I haven’t even thought of yet. Prepare my “rock” before I meet my “python.”
5: Victory over Obstacles: I decree that I shall emerge victorious over every insurmountable obstacle because my Father has gone ahead of me!
6: Strength Impartation: In Your hand is power and might; give me the strength to handle the resources You have provided for my victory.
7: Future Security: Lord, I cast all my future cares upon You. I believe that my “expected end” is already secured in Your infinite understanding. Amen.
