THE KINGDOM CREDENTIALS SERIES

“Jesus replied, ‘Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.'” (Luke 7:22)
I. THE PRISON OF DOUBT: WHEN EXPECTATIONS CLASH WITH REALITY
As we conclude the first month of 2026, we find ourselves at a critical junction in the life of John the Baptist. John, the “Voice Crying in the Wilderness,” the one who saw the Dove descend and heard the Father’s voice, now finds himself in the damp, dark dungeons of Herod. In this “Prison of Suffering,” a crisis of expectation arises. John likely expected a Messiah who would immediately bring political revolution—one who would break his physical chains. When that did not happen, he sent his disciples with a haunting question: “Are You the One who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”
This question is deeply relevant to us in 2026. Many believers are in “Prisons” of delayed promises, health challenges, or economic pressure. In these moments, we often ask, “Lord, if You are the One, why am I still here?” Jesus’ response to this doubt is the ultimate blueprint for spiritual validation.
II. THE ARGUMENT OF EVIDENCE: DEEDS OVER DECLARATIONS
Notice that Jesus did not respond with a theological lecture or a list of titles. He did not say, “I am the Alpha and Omega, don’t you know My lineage?” Instead, He performed a “Demonstration of Power” in the very hour John’s disciples arrived. He cured many of their diseases, drove out evil spirits, and gave sight to the blind.
He then gave them a forensic report: “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard.”
- The Blind See: Spiritual and physical illumination.
- The Lame Walk: Restored capacity and progress.
- The Lepers are Cleansed: Social restoration and holiness.
- The Deaf Hear: Sensitivity to the Divine voice.
- The Dead are Raised: Victory over finality.
- The Poor have the Gospel: Hope for the marginalized.
Jesus allowed His Works to act as His Witness. In 2026, the world is tired of religious arguments; it is looking for “Kingdom Evidence.” Your identity is not what you call yourself; it is what your life produces.
III. THE PROPHETIC ALIGNMENT: VALIDATION THROUGH WORD AND WORK
Jesus’ response was a direct quote from Isaiah 35 and 61. He was showing John that His works were not just “random miracles,” but the exact fulfillment of ancient prophecy.
Authenticity is Alignment: When your “Works” align with the “Word,” your testimony becomes undeniable.
Scripture-Backed Evidence: As a believer, your life should be the “Living Interpretation” of the Bible. When people look at your integrity, your perseverance in trials, and your love for the unlovable, they should see the Scriptures coming to life.
In the marketplace, in the home, and in the ministry, we must stop striving for human recognition. If we carry out our God-given assignments faithfully, the “Fruits” will eventually make the “Root” obvious to all.
IV. THE OFFENSE OF THE MESSIAH: BLESSED IS THE UN-STUMBLED
Jesus concludes with a gentle but piercing warning: “Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of Me.” (v. 23).
To “stumble” (Skandalizō) means to be offended by Christ’s methods. John was at risk of being offended because Jesus wasn’t acting like the “Political Deliverer” he imagined.
The Danger of Expectations: We often miss God’s work because we are looking for it in a different package.
Trusting the Method: God may not break your prison doors today, but if He is raising the dead and healing the blind through you, He is still “The One.” We must trust His timing and His techniques.
V. CONCLUSION: BECOMING A LIVING TESTIMONY
As we step into February 2026, let the mantra of your soul be: “Let my works speak.” * In your business, let your honesty speak for your faith.
- In your marriage, let your selflessness speak for your Lord.
- In your trials, let your steadfastness speak for your Savior.
You don’t need to defend your calling if your calling is producing “Sight for the Blind” and “Hope for the Poor.” Silence the critics with the volume of your obedience.
ACTION PLAN FOR KINGDOM
VALIDATION
Audit Your “Evidence”: If someone were to “report what they see and hear” in your life this month, what would they say?
Focus on the Assignment: Stop trying to prove your critics wrong. Focus on the blind who need sight and the poor who need the Gospel.
Reject the Offense: If God is doing things differently than you planned, choose to trust rather than stumble.
STRATEGIC PRAYER POINTS
The Prayer for Fruits: Lord Jesus, I don’t want to be a “Cymbal” that makes noise but has no life. Let my life produce tangible Kingdom evidence. Let the blind see and the lame walk through my ministry and service, in Jesus’ name!
The Healing of Doubt: Father, deliver me from the “Prison of Doubt.” Whenever my expectations clash with Your reality, give me the grace to see what You are doing rather than what You are not doing, in Jesus’ name.
The Shield Against Offense: O Lord, I receive the blessing of the “Un-stumbled.” I refuse to be offended by Your methods. I trust Your timing and I embrace Your sovereignty over my circumstances, in Jesus’ name!
The Testimony of Obedience: Father, let my obedience speak louder than my words in 2026. Let my integrity in secret produce a public testimony that silences the enemy and glorifies Your name, in Jesus’ name!
