IN QUIETNESS AND CONFIDENCE: THE ULTIMATE SPIRITUAL STRATEGY

I. THE DISCIPLINE OF THE STILLED SOUL

As we step into a new week—Monday, March 23rd, 2026—the world around us is characterized by noise, frantic activity, and the pressure to “fight back” at every perceived slight. Human nature dictates that when we are attacked, we must react. When we are cheated, we must shout. When we are threatened, we must display our strength.

However, the Holy One of Israel introduces a counter-intuitive strategy for victory: Quietness and Confidence. In Isaiah 30:15, God reveals that our true strength does not come from our volume, our speed, or our ability to manipulate circumstances. It comes from “returning and rest.” To return to God and rest in His promises is the highest form of spiritual warfare.

II. THE DANGER OF THE MEEK: THE DUCK AND THE EAGLE

There is a profound mystery concerning those who refuse to fight for themselves. We often mistake silence for weakness, but in the Kingdom of God, silence is often the sign of a “Hand-over.”

1. The Fable of the Eaglet’s Hunt

Consider the story of the mother eagle and her eaglet. When the eaglet stole a duckling, the mother duck did not squawk, peck, or fight back. She simply looked on in silence. The mother eagle, sensing a spiritual danger, commanded the eaglet to return the prey immediately. Why? Because a creature that does not fight back has essentially “subpoenaed” the Court of Heaven.

When the eaglet later stole a chick from a mother hen, the hen was furious, flapping her wings and making a great noise. The mother eagle allowed the family to eat that chick. Her reasoning was chilling: “The hen has done all she can by shouting; she has exhausted her own strength. But the duck, by remaining quiet, has handed you over to God—and the sky isn’t big enough to hide from Him.”

2. The God Who Avenges

When you encounter a man or woman who takes an attack without reacting—even when they have the power to win—be very careful. When a person commits their cause to the One who “can kill and destroy” as well as “heal and deliver,” the battle is no longer human. It is better to apologize to such a person quickly. When God fights for a “quiet” saint, the consequences for the attacker are often beyond repair.

III. THE ANATOMY OF AN UNMOVABLE HEART

Our Bible reading in Psalm 112 describes the “Blessed Man.” Notice the specific characteristics of his heart in verses 7 and 8:

• “He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.”

• “His heart is established, he shall not be afraid…”

1. Fixed vs. Fluctuating

In 2026, “evil tidings” are constant—economic shifts, health scares, and global unrest. Most people’s hearts fluctuate with the news cycle. But the man of “Quietness and Confidence” has a fixed heart. Like an anchor dropped in deep water, his internal state is not determined by the waves on the surface.

2. The Strategy of “Being Still”

Psalm 46:10 commands us: “Be still, and know that I am God.” This “stillness” is not laziness; it is an active refusal to be threatened by the devil’s antics. It is the confidence that says, “If I don’t move, God will.” When you put your confidence in God rather than your own abilities, you create a vacuum that God’s mighty power must fill to cause a turnaround.

IV. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A: NAVIGATING MONDAY WITH CONFIDENCE

Q1: Does ‘quietness’ mean I should never stand up for my rights?

Answer: There is a difference between being a “doormat” and being “meek.” Meekness is “power under control.” You can speak your truth with discretion (Psalm 112:5), but you must do so without the “spirit of strife.” If the situation requires a fight you cannot win, or one that will cost your peace, be quiet and let God be your Advocate.

Q2: How do I stop my heart from racing when I receive ‘evil tidings’?

Answer: By “returning” (Isaiah 30:15). As soon as the news hits, return to the Word. Remind yourself of God’s track record. As our hymn says, “Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him! How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er!” Your confidence grows through “proving” God in small things until you are established for the big things.

Q3: Is ‘confidence’ something I can build, or is it a gift?

Answer: It is both. It is a fruit of your relationship with the Holy Spirit, but it is also built by “delighting greatly in His commandments” (Psalm 112:1). The more you know the Word, the more you know the Character of the one you are trusting. You cannot trust a stranger.

V. REFLECTION & PROPHETIC PRAYER

THOUGHT TO PONDER:

Is my reaction to pressure showing my strength or my lack of trust? Am I like the hen, shouting away my protection, or like the duck, resting in my Defender?

PROPHETIC DECREE FOR MARCH 23RD:

I decree over you this Monday: The spirit of panic is broken! I command your heart to be “fixed” and “established.” In 2026, while others are running in circles, you shall walk in a “Quiet Confidence” that commands respect. I decree that every “eaglet” that has stolen from your life will be forced to return it by the Hand of God, because you have committed your cause to Him. Your righteousness shall endure, and your horn shall be exalted with honor!

PRAYER POINTS:

For Emotional Stability: Lord, I receive the grace to be still. I refuse to be moved by evil tidings or the threats of the enemy. Establish my heart in Your truth.

For Divine Intervention: Father, like the mother duck, I hand over every battle I am facing [mention specific battles] into Your hands. I refuse to fight with my own flesh; I trust You to be my Advocate.

For Discretion: Holy Spirit, guide my affairs with discretion. Help me to know when to speak and when to be quiet, that I may not forfeit my strength.

For the Week Ahead: Lord, as I go through this week, let Your ‘Quietness’ be my atmosphere and Your ‘Confidence’ be my strength. I take You at Your Word today.
