BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 SAMUEL 4–7

I. THE COVENANT OF EXCLUSIVITY
As we move into the second day of April 2026, the Holy Spirit is sounding a clarion call regarding the foundation of our trust. In Exodus 20:1–5, God introduces Himself not just as a Creator, but as a Deliverer. He reminds Israel, “I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt.” Because He is the one who broke the chains of bondage, He demands exclusive rights to your worship. The first commandment is clear: “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” God is a “Jealous God.” This jealousy isn’t a human petty emotion; it is the protective passion of a Father who knows that any “alternative” you seek will eventually destroy you.
II. THE DECEPTION OF THE “QUICK FIX”
In our modern world, the temptation to “look elsewhere” for solutions is subtler than bowing to a stone image. It often comes disguised as “expert advice,” “traditional wisdom,” or even “syncretism”—mixing the Bible with fetish rituals.
1. The Pregnancy That Never Ended
I remember a woman in the RCCG back in 1980. She was desperately trusting God for a child. My wife and I made her a priority on our family altar. Eventually, she became pregnant, and we were overjoyed! But then she made a chilling confession: “Somebody advised me to look elsewhere.” She had visited people who used the Bible but also performed traditional rituals. She boasted, “Look at the result now; I am pregnant.” That was over forty years ago. The last time I heard of her, she was still pregnant. She had traded a divine miracle for a demonic “hold.” She sought a shortcut and ended up in a spiritual cul-de-sac.
2. The Demon Incarnate
There was another woman who grew tired of waiting. She sought “fetish” means and successfully gave birth to a boy. She even mocked those still praying, calling their wait a “waste of time.”
When the boy was six years old, he walked into her room, stripped naked, and made an incestuous demand. When she rushed him to a deliverance minister, the boy looked at them and said, “Don’t waste your time; I am not possessed. I am a demon incarnate.” The “help” she got from the devil came with a price tag that cost her her soul and her peace.
III. THE ARITHMETIC OF SORROW
Our memory verse (Psalm 16:4) provides a spiritual formula: Other Gods = Multiplied Sorrows.
The devil never gives anything for free. His “gifts” are always baits. He may give you a “child,” but that child will be a source of agony. He may give you “wealth,” but it will come with a sorrow that no amount of money can heal.
Hebrews 10:35–38 tells us not to cast away our confidence. Why? Because it has a “great recompense of reward.” The reason the devil pushes you to be in a hurry is that he knows Your Help is on the Way. He wants to intercept you just before your breakthrough so he can claim the glory for your “solution.”
IV. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A: WAITING WITHOUT WAVERING
Q1: How do I know if a ‘solution’ is from God or an ‘alternative?
Answer: Check the source and the process. Does it require you to compromise your character? Does it involve “secret” rituals or items not found in Scripture? If it requires you to “supplement” the Blood of Jesus with anything else, it is an alternative. God’s help brings peace; the devil’s help brings “conditions.”
Q2: I’ve been waiting for years. Is it wrong to feel frustrated?
Answer: Feeling frustrated is human, but acting on that frustration by seeking ungodly help is spiritual suicide. Abraham and Sarah felt frustrated, but when they tried the “Hagar alternative,” it produced Ishmael—a source of conflict that lasts till today. Wait for your Isaac.
Q3: What if I have already sought help elsewhere? Is there hope?
Answer: Yes! God is merciful. If you repent, renounce those covenants, and return to the “Solid Rock,” He can deliver you. However, you must be willing to walk away from the “fetish” solution entirely.
V. STANDING ON THE SOLID ROCK
In 2026, the pressure to conform and find “fast” solutions is immense. But remember: All other ground is sinking sand. If you are waiting for a job, a spouse, a child, or healing—stay in the presence of God. Tarry there. His clock is never slow; He is always on time. If He brought you out of Egypt, He is more than able to take you into Canaan.
VI. REFLECTION & PROPHETIC PRAYER
THOUGHT TO PONDER:
Am I trying to “help” God by looking for alternatives, or am I fully leaning on His name?
PROPHETIC DECREE FOR APRIL 2ND:
I decree today that your strength is renewed! Every “alternative” the enemy is dangling before you to lead you into sorrow is exposed and rejected in Jesus’ Name. I speak over your situation: Help is on the way! Before this month of April is over, that which you have waited for shall manifest in its purest, divine form. You will not have “multiplied sorrows”; you will have “multiplied joy”!
PRAYER POINTS:
For Patience: Father, please help me to wait patiently on You. Uproot every spirit of restlessness and “hurry” from my soul.
For Deliverance: Lord, if I have unknowingly sought help from the wrong places, I repent today. Deliver me and my family from the consequences of “other gods.”
For Manifestation: Father, You are the God of the RCCG family altar; manifest Your power in my life today. Let my testimony be pure and without sorrow.
For Faith: Lord, uphold my faith. Let me not be among those who draw back unto perdition.
