GOD’S RIGHT HAND: THE SEAT OF ULTIMATE POWER AND PRIVILEGE

MESSAGE BY: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: DEUTERONOMY 23–25

FIRE SCRIPTURE: PSALM 110:1–3

MEMORY VERSE: “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:” (EPHESIANS 2:6)

I. THE THEOLOGY OF THE RIGHT HAND: POSITION AND PRIVILEGE

The hallmark of a believer’s identity in 2026 is the profound understanding of where they are spiritually positioned. In biblical symbolism, the “right hand” is not merely a direction; it is a Dimension. It represents the zenith of privilege, the sanctuary of honor, and the pinnacle of status.

As we conclude the second month of this year, the Word of God reminds us in Hebrews 1:3 and Hebrews 12:2 that after the grueling sacrifice of the cross, our Lord Jesus Christ did not just enter heaven; He “sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” This is the seat of Ultimate Strength. In the global systems of 2026—whether political, economic, or technological—there is much talk of “power seats,” but the fire scripture in 1 Peter 3:22 declares that at God’s right hand, angels, authorities, and powers are in absolute subjection.

The Survival Mandate of the Positioned Believer:

To Rule Amidst Resistance: As Psalm 110:2 says, the rod of strength is sent out of Zion so you can rule in the midst of your enemies.

To Access Divine Sustenance: The right hand is the place of help (Psalm 18:35). When the world is shaking, your seat remains steady.

To Manifest Influence: Because you are seated with Christ, your influence is not derived from earthly titles but from heavenly placement.

II. THE MYSTERY OF CORPORATE SEATING (EPHESIANS 2:6)

One of the most life-changing revelations of the New Testament is that Jesus didn’t sit at the right hand alone. Ephesians 2:6 tells us that God has raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

1. The Geography of the Spirit:

You may be physically located in Lagos, London, or New York in 2026, but your spiritual coordinates are “The Right Hand of the Father.” This means you have the same proximity to the Father’s ear as the Son does.

2. The Power of Association:

If Jesus is at the “Right Hand of Power” (Mark 14:62), and you are in Him, then you are a person of power. You are not a “victim” of the economy or “subject” to the whims of darkness. You are an ambassador of the throne.

3. The End of Smallness:

Those at God’s right hand are never small. The “dew of your youth” (Psalm 110:3) refers to a perpetual freshness and vitality that comes from being close to the Source. You cannot be at the right hand of the Infinite God and remain a spiritual dwarf.

III. THE PRODIGAL SYNDROME: WANDERING FROM THE RIGHT HAND

Despite this glorious identity, many believers in 2026 are living as “spiritual paupers.” Like the prodigal son in Luke 15, they have left the place of privilege for the “far country” of compromise, sin, and self-reliance.

Why Believers Wander:

The Lure of the Visible: We sometimes trust the “visible” hand of man more than the “invisible” right hand of God.

The Weight of Sin: Sin creates a sense of “distance” even when God is near. It frustrates the grace that is supposed to flow from your seated position.

Spiritual Amnesia: Forgetting who you are leads to living far below your pay grade in the Kingdom.

The Invitation to Return:

The Father is not just a judge; He is the One who knocks (Revelation 3:20). If you have wandered into fear, anxiety, or sin, the right hand is still your reserved seat. He is waiting with open arms to restore your authority.

IV. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A: EXERCISING THRONEROOM AUTHORITY

Q1: If I am “seated at the right hand,” why am I still facing such fierce battles?

Answer: Psalm 110:2 says, “Rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.” The seat doesn’t mean the enemies disappear; it means they become your “footstool.” The battle is real, but the outcome is fixed because of where you are seated. You fight from victory, not for victory.

Q2: How do I practically “sit” at the right hand during a stressful workday?

Answer: Through Consciousness. Every time a challenge arises, remind yourself: “I am seated with Christ. This problem is under His feet, and therefore, it is under mine.” This shift in perspective changes your response from panic to prayer.

Q3: Can anyone take my seat at the right hand?

Answer: No one can take it, but you can vacate it. Through unbelief or unrepentant sin, you can live as if you aren’t there. But the moment you return to Christ, you are realigned with your position.

V. REFLECTION & PRAYER SUITE

REFLECTION: Are you occupying your place at God’s right hand, or are you trying to fight life’s battles from the ground level of human effort?

HYMNAL: In Christ Alone — No power of hell, no scheme of man, can ever pluck me from His hand!

PRAYER POINTS:

The Purification Phase (Morning):

1: Positional Gratitude: Father, I thank You for raising me up and seating me in heavenly places at Your right hand in Christ Jesus.

2: Repentance for Wandering: Lord, I repent for every time I have acted like a prodigal. I return to my seat of honor and privilege today.

3: Authority Activation: I declare that every power, authority, and demonic influence in my environment is in subjection to the Christ who lives in me!

The Empowerment Phase (Evening):

4: Footstool Decree: In the name of Jesus, I decree that every enemy of my progress, health, and family is becoming my footstool tonight!

5: Help and Sustenance: Father, let the help and provision that flows from Your right hand reach me in my point of need. I refuse to lack in 2026.

6: Rule in the Midst: Lord, give me the grace to rule and dominate in the midst of all opposition. Let Your rod of strength go forth on my behalf.

7: Final Preservation: I thank You, Lord, that no scheme of man can pluck me from Your hand. I stand firm in Your love and power. Amen.
