From Problem-Spotter to Miracle-Worker

MESSAGE: GOD CAN MAKE YOU A SOLUTION

Every day, we encounter problems that seem too big for us. We see needs in our families, neighborhoods, and communities and wish we could do something to help. But what if God’s plan is for you to be the solution? What if He wants to use you to bring change to every problem you come across?

In our featured reading, we see a powerful example of this truth in the story of the widow and her son. When her son died, she didn’t turn to the king or to her neighbors for help. She turned to the man of God, Elijah. And in an incredible display of faith and divine power, God used Elijah to raise her son from the dead. Elijah was the solution to a problem that seemed utterly hopeless.

You may be thinking, “That’s a great story, but I’m not a prophet like Elijah.” The truth is, you don’t have to be. There is no record in the Scriptures that only ordained ministers of God can perform miracles. Jesus Himself said in Mark 16:17-18, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” The power to be a solution doesn’t come from a title; it comes from faith in Jesus.

The Power of Spiritual Action

Being a solution isn’t always about performing a dramatic miracle like raising the dead. Sometimes, the solution is much simpler but just as life-changing. When the widow of one of the sons of the prophets came to Elisha with her debt problem, he didn’t give her a handout. He showed her that the solution was already in her house: a jar of oil. Elisha empowered her with the correct knowledge and faith to multiply what she had and live a life free from financial bondage (2 Kings 4:1-7). This teaches us that being a solution is often about empowering people with the truth, knowledge, and wisdom they need to overcome their own challenges.

Jesus said, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). He also declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). Therefore, the ultimate way to help people is to introduce them to Him. When we lead people to Jesus, we are connecting them to the ultimate source of all solutions—the One who can solve every problem, from physical sickness to the bondage of sin.

From Believer to Problem-Solver

So, how do we become this kind of believer? It all comes down to spiritual development. You must exercise your spirit more than your flesh. This means prioritizing your relationship with Jesus, the ultimate Solution.

When you fellowship with Him through regular prayer and Bible study, you are not just building your faith; you are building your capacity to be used by God. As you grow closer to Jesus, you begin to think and act like Him. You become sensitive to the needs of those around you and equipped with the spiritual authority to address them.

The Bible’s promise in Isaiah 60:1 is for you: “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.” Your light isn’t meant to be hidden. It is meant to be a beacon of hope and a source of solutions for a world in need.

Conclusion

Don’t live a life as a passive bystander who only sees problems. Instead, become a proactive believer who trusts God to make you a solution. By studying the Bible, praying regularly, and seeking to be like Jesus, you position yourself as a vessel that God can use to bring His glory and power into the lives of others. Your faith and your spiritual walk are the keys to unlocking a life of impact—a life where you are no longer just a person with a prayer, but a person through whom God answers the prayers of others.

Father, please make me a solution to the problems of those around me. Help me to be a beacon of Your light and a vessel of Your power, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
