Greetings, beloved, on this blessed Sunday, March 9th, 2025. As we gather in the presence of the Almighty, let us delve into a vital principle of spiritual warfare: dominion by the fighting spirit. In this year of dominion, we are called to not only possess our inheritance but to actively defend and expand it.

The Scripture in 1 Chronicles 18:3 reveals a profound truth: dominion is not passively received; it is actively established. David, a man after God’s own heart, understood this principle. He didn’t merely wait for dominion to fall into his lap; he pursued it with unwavering determination. He smote Hadarezer king of Zobah, extending his influence to the river Euphrates.

The Essence of the Fighting Spirit

The fighting spirit, as we discuss it, is not about physical aggression or violence. It is about a resolute determination to overcome obstacles, a refusal to surrender to adversity, and an unwavering commitment to fulfilling God’s purpose. David: A Warrior King

David’s life is a testament to the power of the fighting spirit. From his youth, he faced formidable challenges, from slaying Goliath to battling numerous enemies. He understood that dominion could only be expanded through warfare. He didn’t shy away from conflict; he embraced it, knowing that God was with him. His victories were not merely military triumphs; they were spiritual victories that established God’s kingdom on earth.

David’s story teaches us that true dominion often requires confronting opposition. It demands courage, resilience, and unwavering faith in God’s power.

Abraham: A Man of Faith and Action

Abraham, the father of faith, also exemplified the fighting spirit. When he heard that his nephew Lot had been taken captive, he didn’t hesitate. He armed his trained servants—318 men—and pursued the captors, defeating them and rescuing Lot. This act of courage and determination demonstrated Abraham’s commitment to protecting his family and upholding justice.

Abraham’s fighting spirit extended beyond physical battles. He also fought for his inheritance, standing firm in his faith despite numerous trials and challenges. His unwavering belief in God’s promises enabled him to establish dominion in the land of Canaan.

Abraham’s actions showed that one does not need to be a king to command respect. His actions and character brought kings to respect him.

The Fighting Spirit: A Secret of Dominion

The fighting spirit is a secret of dominion. It is the key to unlocking your full potential and fulfilling your God-given destiny. To take charge, extend influence, and fulfill destiny, you must be prepared to engage the fighting spirit.

This involves:

Refusing Passivity: Rejecting a passive approach to life and embracing a proactive mindset.

Confronting Challenges: Facing challenges with courage and determination, refusing to be intimidated by obstacles.

Standing Firm in Faith: Maintaining unwavering faith in God’s power and promises, even in the face of adversity.

Exercising Authority: Taking authority over the forces of darkness, resisting the enemy’s schemes, and claiming your rightful inheritance.

Persevering in Prayer: Engaging in fervent prayer, seeking God’s guidance and strength in the midst of battles.

The Nature of Spiritual Warfare

Spiritual warfare is not about physical combat; it is about engaging the forces of darkness with the weapons of our warfare, which are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4). These weapons include:

The Word of God: The sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17).

Prayer: Communicating with God, seeking His guidance and strength.

Faith: Believing in God’s promises and trusting in His power.

Praise and Worship: Magnifying God’s name and acknowledging His sovereignty.

The Blood of Jesus: Claiming the victory of the cross and the power of Jesus’ blood.

Cultivating the Fighting Spirit

How can we cultivate the fighting spirit?

Renew Your Mind: Fill your mind with God’s Word, replacing negative thoughts with positive affirmations of faith.

Strengthen Your Faith: Spend time in prayer and meditation, building your relationship with God and strengthening your faith.

Embrace Challenges: View challenges as opportunities for growth and victory, rather than obstacles to be avoided.

Surround Yourself with Faith-Filled People: Associate with those who encourage and inspire you to walk in faith.

Take Action: Step out in faith, taking action on God’s Word and trusting in His guidance.
