THE RHEMA STRATEGY: MARCH 2026 DEEP-DIVE

BLESSINGS DON’T COME CHEAP: THE PRICE OF DIVINE PROVOCATION

MESSAGE BY: PASTOR E.A. ADEBOYE

BIBLE READING: GENESIS 22:1–18 (KJV)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 SAMUEL 8–12

HYMN: 30 – WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD (TRUST AND OBEY)

MEMORISE: “And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.” — (EXODUS 23:25)

I. THE MISCONCEPTION OF “FREE” BLESSINGS

As we navigate this Tuesday, March 24th, 2026, many believers are operating under a spiritual misunderstanding. We read Ephesians 1:3, which says we have been blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places, and we assume that because these blessings are “provided,” they are “cheap.

While it is true that salvation is a free gift of grace, walking in the fullness of divine blessings requires a price. There is a difference between having a legacy in a bank and having the keys to the vault. In the Kingdom of God, nothing goes for nothing. Every height of blessing has a corresponding depth of sacrifice.

II. THE MOUNT MORIAH PROTOCOL

Our Bible reading in Genesis 22 is the ultimate case study in “provoking” a blessing. Abraham had already received a promise in Genesis 12. He was already a wealthy man. But in Genesis 22, God moved from a “promise” to an “oath.”

1. The Agony of the Ask

God asked for Isaac—the son of his old age, the laughter of his heart, and the only bridge to his future. This was not a “cheap” request. It was a test of priority. God was asking, “Am I more important to you than the blessing I gave you?” #### 2. The Speed of Obedience

Notice verse 3: “And Abraham rose up early in the morning…” He didn’t debate, he didn’t hold a committee meeting with Sarah, and he didn’t complain. He moved toward the sacrifice. When you delay your obedience to God’s instructions, you delay the manifestation of your breakthrough.

3. The Shift from Promise to Oath

When Abraham raised the knife, he proved his fear of God. Consequently, God said in verse 16, “By myself have I sworn… because thou hast done this thing… in blessing I will bless thee.” This is the highest form of blessing. It is the blessing that survives centuries. It is why, in 2026, Jews, Christians, and various cultures still trace their prosperity to the “Root of Abraham.” Abraham bought that global legacy with the currency of total surrender.

III. THE SAVOURY MEAL: PROVOKING THE ANNOINTING

We see this principle again with Isaac and his sons. In Genesis 27, Isaac was old and blind, but he still held the “Key of Blessing.” He told Esau, “Make me savoury meat, such as I love… that my soul may bless thee.”

Isaac was setting up a “trade.” He wanted a physical act of service to provoke a spiritual release of power. Whether it was Jacob who eventually provided the meal or Esau who went hunting, the lesson remains: The blessing follows the service. If you want the “soul” of a man of God or the “Heart of God” to bless you in a way that cannot be reversed, you must find out what He loves and provide it.

The Airport Testimony

I recall an experience at an airport years ago. I was carrying two very heavy bags. Two of my spiritual children saw me.

  • The first one ran to me and said, “Good morning, Daddy! It is good to see you!” and kept walking.

  • The second one greeted me and immediately reached for the bags, insisting on carrying the weight.

I blessed them both with a smile, but I looked at the one who took the bags and said with the weight of my spirit, “God bless you.” The first one felt left out and asked why he didn’t get that specific blessing. I had to ask him, “What did you do to provoke it?” Words are free, but Empowered Words (blessings) are attracted by service.

IV. FRUITFULNESS VS. THE CURSE

In Mark 11, Jesus cursed a fig tree. Why? Because it was “advertising” fruit with its leaves but offering nothing to satisfy the Master’s hunger. If that tree had provided even one fig to the Lord, it would have been blessed to never run dry. Because it failed to serve, it withered.

In 2026, many are like that fig tree—full of “religious leaves” (church attendance, titles, Christian vocabulary) but no “fruit” (soul-winning, sacrificial giving, holy living). If you want to be rooted in blessings, you must be useful to the Kingdom.

V. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A: ATTRACTING THE OVERFLOW

Q1: Does this mean I am ‘buying’ God’s favor with my works?

Answer: No. You cannot buy what Christ has already paid for. However, you qualify for certain levels of responsibility and blessing through your faithfulness. As our memorise says, “Ye shall serve… and He shall bless.” Service is the “legal tender” for the activation of the covenant of blessings.

Q2: I am serving in church, but I don’t feel ‘blessed.’ What am I doing wrong?

Answer: Check the “Isaac Factor.” Isaac asked for meat “such as I love.” Are you serving God the way He wants, or the way you want? Serving God with a grumbling heart or doing it just for show is not “fruit.” True service is done with the aim of pleasing Him.

Q3: What is the ‘Isaac’ God is asking me for today?

Answer: Your “Isaac” is usually the thing you find hardest to let go of. It could be your time, a specific habit, a relationship that hinders your walk, or a financial seed that requires real faith. When you put that “Isaac” on the altar, you move God from “Promising” to “Swearing.”

VI. REFLECTION & PROPHETIC PRAYER

THOUGHT TO PONDER:

If God were to look at your “Service Record” for the first quarter of 2026, would He find a reason to swear a new blessing over your seed?

PROPHETIC DECREE:

I decree today that the spirit of “cheap Christianity” is broken over your life! I receive for you the grace for “Early Morning Obedience.” As you lay your “Isaac” on the altar of service, I decree that Jehovah-Jireh will manifest in your finances, your health, and your family. Because you have obeyed His voice, your seed shall possess the gate of their enemies!

PRAYER POINTS:

Repentance for Casualness: Father, forgive me for wanting Your blessings without being willing to pay the price of service and obedience.

Grace for Sacrifice: Lord, give me the heart of Abraham. Whatever ‘Isaac’ I am holding onto that is blocking my global blessing, give me the grace to release it today.

Provoked Blessing: Father, lead me to do something ‘savoury’ for Your Kingdom this week that will cause You to swear a blessing over my generation.

Health and Provision: As I serve You, Lord, fulfill Exodus 23:25 in my life. Bless my bread, bless my water, and take sickness far from me.
