THE SUPERNATURAL CAPACITY SERIES:

BIBLE READING: 1 CORINTHIANS 15:9–11
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: LEVITICUS 18–19; MATTHEW 27:32–66
KEY VERSE: “But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” (1 CORINTHIANS 15:10, KJV)
I. THE PAULINE PARADOX: THE LEAST VS. THE MOST
In 1 Corinthians 15, the Apostle Paul presents a profound paradox that defines the Christian walk. He begins by acknowledging his past—his “Human Disability.” He calls himself the “least of the apostles” and “not meet to be called an apostle” because of his history of persecuting the Church. In the court of human ability and merit, Paul was a bankrupt man.
However, he immediately shifts to the Divine Endowment. He declares, “But by the grace of God I am what I am.” This is the “Architecture of Grace”:
Identity Transformation: Grace took a persecutor and made him a preacher. It bridged the gap between who he was (Saul) and who God called him to be (Paul).
Abundant Labour: Paul does not suggest that grace is an excuse for laziness. He says he “laboured more abundantly than they all.” Grace is not a sofa for resting; it is an engine for working. It provides the fuel to go beyond the natural limits of exhaustion.
The Invisible Partner: The climax of his testimony is, “Yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” This is the realization that while his hands were working, a supernatural current was flowing through them.
II. THE ANATOMY OF DIVINE ENABLEMENT
Grace is often defined simply as “unmerited favor,” but in the context of human capacity, it is better defined as Divine Enablement. It is the power of God flowing into the spirit of a man, allowing him to achieve what is humanly impossible.
Beyond Human Expectation: Human ability is governed by IQ, strength, connections, and resources. Grace operates in the realm of the “Contrary.” It enables the weak to say, “I am strong,” and the poor to say, “I am rich.”
The Language of Grace: Grace has a specific vocabulary. It doesn’t speak the language of “Maybe” or “I’ll try.” It speaks the language of “It is Well” and “I can do all things through Christ.”
III. THE CLOUD OF WITNESSES: GRACE IN ACTION
The manifestations of grace are seen throughout Scripture in people who reached the end of their human capacity but were carried by a “Divine Second Wind.”
The Job Confession (Job 13:15): “Though he slays me, yet will I trust in him.” Human ability trusts when things are good; Grace trusts when life is falling apart.
The Hebrew Defiance (Daniel 3:17–18): Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego didn’t just have courage; they had “Grace-Capacity.” It enabled them to stand tall while others bowed, refusing to compromise even in the face of a fiery furnace.
The Esther Risk (Esther 4:16): “If I perish, I perish.” Grace enables a person to exchange their life for a higher purpose. It provides a supernatural boldness that silences the instinct of self-preservation.
The Shunammite’s Declaration (2 Kings 4): Holding a dead child—the ultimate symbol of human failure and loss—grace enabled this woman to look at the prophet’s servant and say, “It is well.” She spoke from a future reality that her human eyes could not yet see.
IV. GRACE AS A SHIELD AGAINST COMPROMISE
In 2026, we live in a “filthy and depraved environment” where temptation is digital, pervasive, and often socially acceptable. Human willpower is a brittle shield against modern sin.
The Joseph Strategy (Genesis 39:9): When Potiphar’s wife offered a “deadly deal,” Joseph didn’t just have good morals; he had Preserving Grace. It gave him the capacity to see the spiritual cost of a “temporal pleasure.”
Saying No to Unrighteousness: Grace provides the “Resisting Power.” Titus 2:11–12 tells us that the grace of God “teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness.” It is an internal tutor that strengthens the soul when the flesh is weak.
V. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A: NAVIGATING THE GRACE ZONE
Q1: If grace is a gift, why did Paul say he ‘laboured more abundantly’?
Answer: Grace is like a scholarship. The tuition is paid (favor), but you must still study and attend classes (labour). Grace doesn’t do the work instead of you; it does the work through you. It amplifies your efforts until they reach a supernatural result.
Q2: How do I know if I am operating in my own strength or in God’s grace?
Answer: Monitor your “Internal Pressure.” Operating in human strength leads to “Anxiety, Burnout, and Pride.” Operating in grace leads to “Peace, Endurance, and Humility.” If you are taking all the credit and feeling all the stress, you are likely operating in human capacity.
Q3: Can grace be lost or ‘bestowed in vain’?
Answer: Paul mentioned that God’s grace toward him was “not in vain.” Grace is in vain when it is given but not utilized. It is like having a bank account with millions but living like a beggar. We must “tap into” the grace through faith and obedience.
VI. ACTIVATION & PRAYER SUITE
A. Personal Petitions: For Supernatural Capacity
The Enablement Decree: Father, I thank You for Your grace! I receive a “Divine Endowment” that takes me beyond my natural IQ, my limited resources, and my human strength today, in Jesus’ Name!
The Identity Transformation: Lord, like Paul, I declare that I am what I am only by Your grace. I refuse to be defined by my past failures. I am empowered for my divine future, in Jesus’ Name!
The Resistance Power: Father, in this depraved environment, let Your grace be my shield. Grant me the capacity of Joseph to say a firm “No” to every compromise and unrighteousness, in Jesus’ Name!
B. Prophetic Declarations
4. The ‘It Is Well’ Shout: No matter the report I hold in my hand, I declare by the power of grace: It is well with my soul, my family, and my destiny!
5. The Abundant Labour: I shall not be weary in well-doing. I receive the grace to labour more abundantly, to outpace my competitors, and to finish my race with joy!
MEDITATION FOCUS: Have you ever been at a point where you knew that only God’s grace rescued you? Reflect on that moment and realize that the same grace is available for your current mountain.
