I. THE ANATOMY OF THE STRUGGLE
Yesterday, we explored the sobering reality of failure—the first possible outcome in the battle of life. We established that failure is not just a possibility but a certainty when a man finds himself at odds with the Almighty. Today, we look at the second possible outcome: Winning, but with extreme, agonizing struggle.
There is a category of people in 2026 who are not “failures” in the eyes of the world. They have the degrees, they have the businesses, and they have the titles. However, every inch of progress they make feels like wading through thick mud. They win, but they are exhausted. They succeed, but they are bruised. This “victory-by-struggle” is often the result of a life that acknowledges God’s existence but does not depend on His Help.
The Jabez Condition:
In our Bible reading (1 Chronicles 4:9–10), we meet a man named Jabez. He was described as “more honourable than his brethren,” yet his life was a shadow of his potential. Why? Because his very name was a label of sorrow. He was winning the battle of honor, but losing the battle of joy and expansion. He reached a point where he realized that honorable struggle is still struggle. He needed a Divine Intervention to shift his outcome from “Victory with Pain” to “Victory by Grace.”
II. THE PARADOX OF DIVINE PARTNERSHIP
A major misconception among believers is that when God is with you, the path will be devoid of conflict. This is not the case. When God promises to be with you, success is assured, but the fight is often required. The difference lies in the source of your strength.
1. The Moses Strategy (Exodus 3:10–12):
When God commissioned Moses to liberate Israel, the assignment was terrifying. Moses looked at his own stuttering speech and his past as a fugitive and trembled. God didn’t take away the difficult task; He simply provided a promise: “Certainly I will be with thee.” * The Struggle: Pharaoh resisted. Ten plagues were required.
The Victory: Because God was with Moses, the resistance of Pharaoh only served to highlight the superior power of the Almighty. When God is your partner, resistance is merely a platform for a greater testimony.
2. The Davidic Confidence (1 Samuel 17:1–51):
Goliath had terrorized Israel for forty days. When David stepped up, King Saul tried to clothe him in human armor—human “understanding.” David rejected it. When Saul finally said, “Go, and the Lord be with you,” the battle was essentially over before the stone was thrown.
When the Lord is with you, the possibility of failing in the battle of life vanishes.
III. NO ACCIDENTS: THE DIVINE ARRANGEMENT
Child of God, you must settle this in your heart today: Nothing in your life is an accident. Before you were formed in your mother’s womb, God carefully arranged the blueprint of your destiny. If you find yourself in a season of intense struggle, it is not because God has forgotten you; it is often because He is waiting for you to stop “leaning on your own understanding.”
The Jacob Transformation:
Jacob is the ultimate example of a man who won by “wrestling.” He was blessed by his father Isaac, yet he lived as a fugitive and a laborer for twenty years. He was successful, but he was a “struggler.” It wasn’t until he was alone at Jabbok (Genesis 32:24–32) and surrendered everything—even his own hip—that his name was changed from Jacob (Supplanter/Struggler) to Israel (Prince with God). He stopped trying to manipulate his way to the top and started asking for Divine Help.
IV. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A: ACTIVATING DIVINE HELP IN 2026
Q1: Why does God allow me to struggle if He already planned my success?
Answer: God often allows us to reach the end of our own strength so that we can discover the beginning of His. If everything came easily through your own talent, you would worship your talent. The struggle is often the school where we learn to “Trust and Obey.”
Q2: What is the difference between “Hard Work” and “Struggling”?
Answer: Hard work is a physical requirement for success; “Struggling” is a spiritual state of friction. You can work 14 hours a day with the Help of God and feel energized (Life and Peace). Alternatively, you can work 4 hours a day without God and feel crushed by anxiety. Divine Help makes your work productive.
Q3: How do I practically “Ask for Help” like Jabez?
Answer: Jabez was specific. He didn’t just ask for “help”; he asked for a blessing “indeed,” for territorial expansion, for God’s hand to be with him, and for protection from evil. Be specific in your prayers. Tell God exactly where the “sorrow” of your struggle is located.
V. REFLECTION & ACTION SUITE
KEY POINT: Those who surrender their plans to the Lord and seek His help won’t struggle to succeed.

I decree that today marks the end of “Sorrowful Success” in your life! Every area where you have been laboring like an elephant and eating like an ant is receiving the Jabez-touch now. The Lord is enlarging your coast. His hand is coming upon your business, your career, and your family to turn your toil into a testimony!
PRAYER POINTS:
The Jabez Cry: Oh Lord, bless me indeed! Enlarge my coast and let Your hand be with me in everything I set out to do this week.
Surrender of Plans: Father, I lay my 2026 goals and plans at Your feet. I refuse to lean on my own understanding. Direct my paths, O Lord.
Breaking the Spell of Struggle: Every spirit of Jacob (the struggler) operating in my lineage, I command you to depart by fire! I receive the identity of Israel—a prince with God.
Divine Fellowship: Lord, as I walk with You in the light of Your Word, shed Your glory on my way. Let Your presence make the difficult tasks easy.
Protection from Evil: Father, keep me from evil and from the grief that comes with sin. Let my success be pure and free from the sorrow of the world.
