SPIRIT MEAT DAILY DEVOTIONAL
THE MECHANICS OF THE MIRACULOUS: ACTS THAT MOVE GOD’S HAND
MESSAGE BY: REV. OLUSOLA AND REV. OYENIKE AREOGUN
(EASTER SUNDAY)
SCRIPTURE: MALACHI 1:6; ISAIAH 59:1
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: DEUTERONOMY 28:1–68; LUKE 11:14–36; PSALM 77:1–20; PROVERBS 12:18
I. THE MYTH OF DIVINE RANDOMNESS
On this Resurrection Sunday, as we celebrate the ultimate intervention of God in human history, the Spirit of God is bringing us to a critical realization: God does not respond to human life randomly. Many believers live under the illusion that the Christian walk is a game of spiritual “luck” or that God’s involvement in their lives is a matter of His “mood.” We see one brother thriving and another struggling, and we chalk it up to “mysterious ways.” But the Bible presents a forensic reality of spiritual cause and effect. There are specific acts that move the hand of God in your direction, and there are acts that can effectively push His hand away.
Isaiah 59:1 clarifies the stance of Heaven: “Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear.” If there is a silence from Heaven or a lack of power in your situation, the technical fault is never with the “Broadcaster” (God); it is always with the “Receiver” (man). The hand of God is ready, but is the life involved aligned to attract that hand?
II. ALIGNMENT OVER ACTIVITY: THE BEYOND-RELIGION FACTOR
We must recognize that moving the hand of God is not about “pressing religious buttons.” God is a Person, not a vending machine. You cannot insert three prayers and a fast and expect a miracle to drop out if your heart is out of alignment.
1. Spiritual vs. Practical Acts
The acts that move God’s hand fall into two categories, and the tragedy is that many Christians only focus on the first:
-
The Spiritual: Prayer, fasting, and tithing.
-
The Practical: How you handle responsibilities, how you treat your subordinates, and the value you place on things that belong to God.
Heaven watches your “secular” behavior just as closely as your “sanctuary” behavior. If you are “spiritual” in the pew but “dishonorable” in the marketplace, you create a spiritual friction that prevents the hand of God from moving smoothly in your favor.
2. The Weight of Honor
In Malachi 1:6, God asks a piercing question: “A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour?” Honor is the primary currency of the Kingdom. It is the master act that provokes Divine involvement. When a man lives deliberately to honor God, he moves out of the realm of “human effort” and into the realm of “Divine Addition.
III. THE DIFFERENCE THE HAND MAKES
What happens when the hand of God finally moves? The difference is not just incremental; it is categorical.
- Divine Addition: The hand of God can add to your life in one day what twenty years of “hustling” could not produce.
-
Divine Provision: It provides resources that human strength and “connections” can never obtain.
-
Divine Preservation: Sometimes, His hand is the only thin line between survival and total disaster.
On this Easter Sunday, we see the ultimate example. Human effort had sealed the tomb, and Roman law had secured it. But the Hand of God moved, and the impossible became the standard. This same hand is available to you if you will stop living carelessly and start living deliberately.
IV. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A: NAVIGATING THE DIVINE RESPONSE
Q1: If God is Sovereign, why does He wait for ‘Acts’ from me before He moves?
Answer: God is indeed Sovereign, but He has chosen to work on earth through Covenants. A covenant is a legal agreement that requires two parties. God has committed Himself to respond to certain triggers—like Faith, Honor, and Obedience. He doesn’t wait because He is “weak”; He waits because He is “Just.” He honors the free will and the “alignment” He has set in His Word.
Q2: Can my past ‘negative acts’ be erased so God’s hand can move again?
Answer: That is the beauty of Easter! The blood of Jesus was shed to “blot out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us” (Colossians 2:14). Repentance is the first act that moves the hand of God to clear the “blockage” caused by past disobedience. Once the blockage is cleared, your positive acts can begin to attract His favor again.
Q3: Is ‘Honour’ just about giving money to the church?
Answer: Money is a tool of honor, but it is not the definition of honor. Honor is a “posture of heart” that says, “God, Your Word is the final authority, and Your Presence is my greatest treasure.” You honor God by arriving early for His appointments, by speaking well of His servants, and by protecting the “holy” from the “profane” in your daily life.
V. REFLECTION & PROPHETIC ALIGNMENT
THOUGHT TO PONDER:
Do my daily attitudes and actions provoke the favorable hand of God or push it away? What deliberate step will I take today to honor God?
EASTER PROPHETIC DECREE:
I decree that as you align your life with the acts of Honor and Obedience, the “shortened hand” syndrome is broken over your family! Just as the hand of God rolled away the stone 2,000 years ago, I decree a supernatural “rolling away” of every barrier in your career and health! You shall no longer struggle under the weight of human effort alone. From this 5th day of April 2026, the Hand of God shall add to you, provide for you, and preserve you in Jesus’ Name!
PRAYER:
Father, I thank You because Your hand is not too short to save me. I repent for every careless action and dishonorable attitude that has distanced me from Your help. Teach me the acts that move Your hand in my favor. Help me avoid attitudes that provoke Your displeasure and lead me to live in ways that attract Your blessing. I choose to live deliberately for Your glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
