TEXT: JOB 28: 1 – 28.
The life and activities of miners are brought to our perusal to know what it takes to get hidden riches in the earth. If you want to get gold, silver and iron it is buried in the earth where no animal or bird can tamper with them.
No matter how strong an animal is even lions can only exhibit it’s strength on the physical and cannot go into the earth to bring out the hidden riches. It is only man that dig into the earth to bring these riches to earn a living.
This involves determination, diligence, devotion and discipline without which you cannot succeed. No lazy person can dig out gold, silver and iron or break the rocks.
In the same way no lazy person can make riches in the most honourable way even to earn the best degree certificate.
If you want to earn spiritual blessings, you must be discipline, diligent, determined and consistent in following the Lord. How dedicated are you in serving and following the Lord?
I ask you a question, what have you achieved for God for all the things He has done for you? Have you win a soul for Him, edify the body of Christ, help the poor and downtrodden, less privileged and orphans, relieve burdens, visited the sick and the prisoners? What are you using your resources, gifts and talents to do for God?
Imagine searching for wisdom on the earth where rich minerals are buried, you cannot get it because it is not found on the earth, sea or land of the dead, the birds and other creatures don’t have it, you can only acquire knowledge but not wisdom and the knowledge man got from digging out resources in the land he converted it to destroying his fellow beings created by God. Is this wisdom, No.
Where can wisdom be found? People especially scientists are still searching for wisdom today and have done many things to get wisdom but failed.
Wisdom is not in the deep sea, on the rocks, in technology or on the surface of the land. In fact many who claim to have wisdom only succeed in inventing weapons/things to destroy themselves.
Some think that by duping people, stealing and robbery or kidnapping and taking hard drugs makes them wise. This is not true. Wisdom is greater or costlier than gold and rubies. You cannot purchase wisdom and it cannot be valued.
Where can one find wisdom, where is wisdom coming from have continued to give people sleepless nights. The source of wisdom is reported at the last verse of this text to show us how difficult it is to find wisdom.It is only God that knows where wisdom and understanding come from and only Him can give you answer to this question.
This is if you are genuinely asking to know . The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom and to depart from evil is understanding. Job came to the conclusion that wisdom can only come from fearing God. Regrettedly, some people especially our generation have abandon God and lack the fear of God.
This is shown in all the atrocities being committed today as if no one is checking them. They don’t have respect for God because they do things with impunity.
They don’t have understanding of God’s ways of doing things and that is why they are thriving in evil deeds. Anyone who lacks the knowledge of God and doesn’t show respect to God by obeying His word is an unwise and foolish person and when you are wicked and add evil deeds to your lifestyle you lack understanding.
Prayer:
Father, thank you for revealing to me that you are the source of wisdom and understanding, help me to fear you and eschew evils in Jesus name Amen.
