DIVINE VISITATION (PART I) – THE CATALYST FOR SUPERNATURAL CHANGE

I. THE ANATOMY OF A DIVINE VISITATION

As we step into this Thursday, April 23rd, 2026, the Lord is opening a series of teachings on a phenomenon that alters the course of human history: Divine Visitation. To be “visited” by God is not merely to feel a goosebump or shed a tear during worship. A Divine Visitation is a supernatural intrusion of the Creator into the affairs of a creature. It is the moment when the “Eternal” steps into “Time” to settle a long-standing debt, fulfill a forgotten promise, or launch a hidden destiny.

Our memory verse from Job 10:12 reveals three immediate products of such an encounter: Life, Favour, and Preservation. When God visits you, He doesn’t just leave you with a memory; He leaves you with a mark. His visitation brings an end to the “season of the ordinary” and inaugurates the “era of the extraordinary.”

II. DAVID: THE VISITATION OF THE OVERLOOKED

Our Bible reading in 1 Samuel 16 presents one of the most dramatic turnarounds in Scripture. The context is heavy: Saul has been rejected, and the Prophet Samuel is mourning. But God is a forward-moving God. He instructs Samuel to fill his horn with oil and head to Jesse’s house.

1. The Disregard of the Flesh

When Samuel arrived, Jesse—the father—presented seven of his sons. He showcased Eliab for his stature, Abinadab for his strength, and Shammah for his potential. These were the “logical” choices. In fact, David was so disregarded by his own family that he wasn’t even invited to the meeting. While his brothers were being pampered and presented, David was in the wilderness, smelling like sheep and facing lions.

2. The Sovereignty of the Spirit

But God does not see as man sees. Man looks at the outward appearance (the CV, the height, the social status), but God looks at the heart. Despite being the “forgotten” son, the Almighty had arranged a divine visitation for David. When Samuel refused to sit down until the youngest arrived, the entire family hierarchy was suspended.

3. The Impact of the Oil

The moment Samuel anointed David in the midst of his brethren, the “part-time” shepherd became a “full-time” king in the eyes of Heaven. Things began to change positively. The Spirit of the Lord came upon him from that day forward. A Divine Visitation makes your mockers become your spectators.

III. THE BIBLICAL ARCHIVE OF VISITATION

History is littered with men and women whose lives were “normal” until God decided to pay them a visit.

Jacob (The Fugitive): In Genesis 28:13-14, Jacob was sleeping on a rock—homeless and afraid. God visited him in a dream, and from that night, the blessing of Abraham was transferred to him. He woke up as a man under a divine mandate, and his prosperity became a global reference point.

Sarah (The Barren): For decades, Sarah’s story was defined by emptiness. But when the Lord visited her, she laughed for joy (Genesis 21:1-6). Her laughter was so loud that everyone who heard it rejoiced with her.

Joseph (The Prisoner): Joseph went to bed as a slave and a prisoner. But the day of his visitation arrived through Pharaoh’s dream. Within 24 hours, his years of hardship vanished; he exchanged a prison garment for a royal robe and became second-in-command over the world’s most powerful nation (Genesis 41).

The Man at Bethesda: For 38 years, he was part of the “multitude of impotent folk.” He was stuck. But the day Jesus visited that pool, he didn’t need the water to move; he needed the Word to move. He walked away from his bed of paralysis.

IV. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A: PREPARING FOR YOUR VISITATION

Q1: Does God visit everyone, or just ‘special’ people?

Answer: God is no respecter of persons, but He is a respecter of hunger. In the hymn, we cry, “While on others Thou art calling, do not pass me by.” God visits those who are in deep contrition and who “trust only in His merit.” David was visited in the bush because his heart was right. If you are His child, you are a candidate for visitation.

Q2: What is the difference between an ‘Encouragement’ and a ‘Visitation’?

Answer: An encouragement gives you the strength to endure the situation; a Visitation changes the situation. An encouragement is God saying, “I am with you in the prison.” A Visitation is God saying, “Open the prison doors and come out!”

Q3: Can a Divine Visitation be ‘missed’?

Answer: Yes. Jesus wept over Jerusalem because they “knew not the time of thy visitation” (Luke 19:44). You must be sensitive. When the Spirit prompts you to pray, to fast, or to attend a specific service, that might be your Jesse’s house moment. Don’t be in the field when you should be in the room!

V. THE 2026 PROPHETIC CHALLENGE: CRYING OUT TO THE FATHER

In this year 2026, many are facing situations that seem “impossible.” But my Daddy specialises in making the impossible possible.

  • Are you facing a 38-year-old stagnation?

  • Are you the “overlooked” person in your office or family?

  • Are you in a “prison” of debt or sickness?

The cry of the humble is the magnet for the Divine Visitor. Like the blind Bartimaeus, don’t keep quiet when the Master is passing by. Your “Pass Me Not” prayer today can trigger a Part I of a testimony that will span generations.

VI. REFLECTION & ACTION POINT

THOUGHT TO PONDER:

If Samuel was to come to my “house” (my life) today, is there oil in my horn? Am I positioned in the heart for God to say, “Arise, anoint him, for this is he”?

ACTION POINT:

Consecrate Yourself: Spend the first hour of your day in “deep contrition” as the hymn suggests. Help your unbelief.

Specific Petition: Identify the “Jesse’s House” you need God to visit—your career, your marriage, or your health.

Refuse to Sit Down: Make a prophetic declaration today: “I will not rest until my visitation manifests. I will not settle for the status quo!”

PRAYER POINT:

Father, I thank You because You are the God who remembers the forgotten. I cry out to You today as the Gentle Saviour. Please, do not pass me by! Visit me in my wilderness; visit me in my prison; visit me in my place of stagnation. Lord, let Your visitation preserve my spirit and reverse every impossible situation in my life. Anoint my head with the oil of a new season, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

PROPHETIC DECREE:

I decree today that your “David Season” has begun! Every person who has overlooked you will be forced to wait for you! I command the oil of the Spirit to distinguish you in the midst of your brethren. I decree that the years of suffering, barrenness, and slavery are ending this April. By this time tomorrow, may your prison doors be open and your throne be ready, in the mighty Name of Jesus!
