OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL: APRIL 2026 THEOLOGICAL EXEGESIS
REVERSING SICKNESS – THE RISE OF THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

I. THE ANATOMY OF SPIRITUAL PATHOLOGY
As we move into this Tuesday, April 21st, 2026, the Holy Spirit is directing our spiritual focus toward the concept of Reversing Sickness. To “reverse” implies more than just stopping a process; it means to turn it back to its original state, to undo the damage, and to restore what was lost during the period of decay. Sickness, in its various forms—physical, emotional, or spiritual—is an intruder. It was never part of God’s original design for man in the Garden of Eden. It entered through the fall, and as such, it remains a “work of the devil” which Jesus was manifested to destroy (1 John 3:8).
In our world today, we see medical science making massive strides, yet we also see the emergence of “incurable” conditions and mysterious ailments that defy diagnosis. When sickness becomes “long-lasting,” it stops being just a bodily malfunction and starts becoming a yoke—a spiritual bondage that ties a man to a bed and limits his destiny. But our God is the Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals. He does not just treat symptoms; He reverses the entire pathological process.
II. THE MYSTERIOUS CASE OF THE CONCEALED SERPENT
There is a dimension of sickness that is purely spiritual in origin, often linked to ancestral foundations or demonic planting. I remember the testimony of a young boy born to idol-worshipping parents. Following their traditional customs, they took this newborn to an Ifa priest (a traditional spiritualist) to consult the oracles regarding the child’s destiny.
1. The Unlikely Recommendation
Surprisingly, even the darkness must acknowledge the Light. The Ifa priest looked at the infant and told the parents, “You had better take this boy to Jesus Christ.” This was a divine warning, a signal that the boy’s destiny was so heavy that only the King of Kings could preserve it. However, pride and religious tradition blinded the parents. They were insulted that their “god” would refer them to Jesus. As they left in anger, the boy fell sick immediately.
2. The Childhood of Affliction
For years, that boy’s life was a cycle of hospitals and herbalists. He suffered poor health all through his childhood. He was a “living sacrifice” to an altar he didn’t choose. Eventually, mercy brought them to one of our programs. They came “armed” with charms and amulets, hidden under the boy’s clothing, seeking a solution they couldn’t find elsewhere.
3. The Manifestation of the Hidden
During the service, under the intense heat of the sun and the even more intense heat of the Holy Ghost fire, a commotion occurred. The boy’s mother had removed his shirt because of the heat. While I was ministering, a literal snake crawled out of that boy’s shirt. The source of the sickness was a “spiritual serpent” that had taken residence in his life from birth.
When the power of God came down, the snake was killed, and the boy was instantly delivered. Every “plant” that the Heavenly Father has not planted in your body—be it a cyst, a tumor, or a spiritual serpent—shall be uprooted today in the name of Jesus!
III. THE CASE OF AENEAS: THE EIGHT-YEAR PARALYSIS
Our Bible reading in Acts 9 presents us with a man named Aeneas. His story is a classic example of what it means for God to reverse a long-standing infirmity.
The Duration: Eight long years. This was not a temporary flu; it was a permanent lifestyle of helplessness.
The Condition: He was “sick of the palsy”—paralyzed.
The Consequence: He “kept his bed.” For eight years, his world was the size of a mattress. He was at the mercy of others for his basic needs. He likely suffered from bedsores, muscle atrophy, and the deep psychological depression that comes with being a “burden” to others.
Then Peter, carrying the aura of the Sun of Righteousness, walked into Lydda. Peter didn’t offer him a “get well soon” card. He spoke the Word of Reversal: “Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed.”
The command to “make thy bed” was significant. For eight years, the bed had carried Aeneas; now, Aeneas was to carry the bed. The reversal was total and immediate. If God could reverse eight years of paralysis in a second, your condition is not too hard for Him.
IV. THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS: WINGS OF HEALING
Our Memorise in Malachi 4:2 provides a beautiful metaphor for divine healing. It speaks of the “Sun of Righteousness” arising.
1: The Arising: When the sun rises, darkness must flee. Sickness is a form of shadow; when the Light of God hits your body, the shadows of infirmity vanish.
2: The Wings: Ancient imagery often depicted the sun with wings (rays). These rays reach into the deepest parts of your anatomy—your marrow, your DNA, your bloodstream—carrying the “solvent” of heaven to dissolve every ailment.
3: The Result: “Ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.” This implies a restoration of strength and a season of rapid growth and vitality.
V. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A: NAVIGATING DIVINE HEALING
Q1: Why does God sometimes allow sickness to last for years, like Aeneas’ eight years?
Answer: We live in a fallen world, but delay is not denial. Sometimes, the length of the sickness makes the miracle more undeniable. When Aeneas stood up, all of Lydda and Saron turned to the Lord (Acts 9:35). Your testimony will be used to win entire cities for Christ.
Q2: Can I be healed even if my sickness is “genetic” or “ancestral”?
Answer: Absolutely. The boy in the testimony was born into an idol-worshipping foundation. His sickness was “planted” before he had a choice. But the Blood of Jesus is a spiritual “cleansing agent” that goes back to your roots and severs the link between you and ancestral infirmities.
Q3: What is the role of faith in “Reversing Sickness”?
Answer: Faith is the “hand” that reaches out to touch the hem of His garment. Aeneas had to believe the word Peter spoke and make the effort to “arise.” Healing is often a partnership: God provides the Power, you provide the “Arise.
VI. THE 2026 PROPHETIC CHALLENGE: THE GREAT PHYSICIAN IS NEAR
In this year 2026, we are seeing many “new” diseases and health anxieties. But the hymn reminds us: “The Great Physician now is near.” He is not far away in some distant heaven; He is “near” to your pain and your “drooping heart.”
Sin and Sickness: Often, there is a link. The hymn says, “Your many sins are all forgiv’n.” Sometimes, the first step to reversing sickness is to ensure your relationship with God is intact.
The Name of Jesus: This name dispels “guilt and fear.” Fear is a major fuel for sickness. When you hear the “charming name of Jesus,” your soul is cheered, and your body receives the signal to recover.
VII. REFLECTION & ACTION POINT
THOUGHT TO PONDER:
If Jesus Christ “maketh me whole” right now, what is the first thing I will do with my restored strength to glorify Him?
ACTION POINT:
Today, conduct a “Prophetic Arising.”
Identify the Bed: What is the condition that has “kept you down”?
Declare the Word: Speak to yourself: “[Your Name], Jesus Christ maketh thee whole!”
Perform a Symbolic Act: If you felt you couldn’t lift your arm, lift it. If you couldn’t walk a certain distance, try it. Act as one who has been reversed from sickness to health.
PRAYER POINT:
Father, I thank You because You are the Sun of Righteousness. I bring my body, my soul, and my spirit before You today. Every plant You have not planted in me, I command it to be uprooted! Every serpent of infirmity hidden in my lineage, be destroyed by the fire of the Holy Ghost! Lord, reverse every ‘incurable’ verdict over my life and the lives of my loved ones. I arise from the bed of limitation and I walk into my season of divine health, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
PROPHETIC DECREE:
I decree today that the “Sun of Righteousness” is rising over your home! I command every shadow of death and every “eight-year” paralysis to vanish now! I speak to your bones, your blood, and your organs: BE MADE WHOLE! I decree that you shall no longer be a burden to others; rather, you shall become a wonder to many. From this moment on, you shall “grow up as a calf of the stall”—leaping with joy and full of the vitality of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ Name!
