SHARE THE GOOD NEWS (PART II): THE LEPROSY OF SILENCE

I. THE CRISIS OF SAMARIA: A CITY UNDER SIEGE

As we celebrate this Easter Sunday, April 5th, 2026, the Holy Spirit is drawing our attention to a powerful narrative of transition from famine to feast. In 2 Kings 6 and 7, we find Samaria in a state of absolute desperation. The city was under a brutal siege by the Syrians. The economic situation had deteriorated to a point where the “unthinkable” became the “routine”—mothers were literally boiling their children for food.

In the midst of this darkness, the Prophet Elisha released a word: “Tomorrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel…” (2 Kings 7:1). To the natural mind, this was impossible. The market was dead, the gates were shut, and the enemy was at the door. But God was already moving through the most unlikely of vessels: Four Lepers.

II. THE BOLDNESS OF THE OUTCASTS

While the king and the religious elite were mourning in the palace, four men sitting at the gate—men rejected by society and ravaged by disease—reached a point of holy desperation. They asked a question that every believer should ask in 2026: “Why sit we here until we die?”

1. The Twilight March

They decided that if they stayed at the gate, they would die of hunger; if they went into the city, they would die of famine; but if they surrendered to the Syrians, they might live. As they took those first limping steps in the twilight, God performed a miracle of acoustics. He amplified the sound of their feet to sound like a massive coalition of Hittite and Egyptian armies.

2. The Sound of Deliverance

God caused the Syrian host to hear the noise of chariots and horses. Terrorized, the enemy fled, leaving behind their tents, their gold, their horses, and most importantly, their food. When the lepers arrived, they found a banquet prepared by their enemies. They ate, they drank, and they hid silver and gold.

III. THE CONVICTION OF THE HARVEST

If the story had ended there, it would have been a tale of personal survival. But the lepers reached a turning point that defines the heart of the Gospel.

2 Kings 7:9 says: “Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace…”

They realized that while they were feasting, an entire city was starving to death just a few hundred yards away. They recognized that silence in the face of a solution is a form of spiritual malpractice.

1. The Easter Parallel

Today is Easter. It is the ultimate Day of Good Tidings.

If you have tasted the goodness of the Lord, if you have found “food” for your soul in Christ, you “do not well” if you keep it to yourself. To have the bread of life while your neighbors are eating the “husks” of the world is a tragedy.

IV. BREAKING THE SIEGE THROUGH TESTIMONY

The news brought by the lepers was initially met with skepticism by the king, who thought it was a Syrian trap. This is exactly what happens today. When you tell people “Jesus saves,” they may be skeptical. They may think it’s too good to be true.

But notice what happened in Samaria: the people went out and saw for themselves. They found the garments and vessels cast away by the enemy. Their physical investigation confirmed the lepers’ testimony. Your job isn’t to force people to believe; your job is to point them to the empty camp of the enemy. When you testify, you are simply saying, “I was a leper, I was starving, but I found food at the feet of Jesus. Come and see!”

V. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A: SHARING THE EASTER TIDINGS

Q1: Why is it so hard to share the Gospel with people who are struggling economically?

Answer: In Samaria, the famine was so bad that people were blind to everything but their hunger. In 2026, many are blinded by the “famines” of inflation, health crises, and political unrest. However, the Gospel is the only thing that offers a “Tomorrow” where “fine flour is sold for a shekel.” Do not be intimidated by people’s physical needs; offer them the Christ who can multiply bread and peace.

Q2: What ‘mischief’ can come upon us if we hold our peace (as the lepers feared)?

Answer: The “mischief” is the spiritual stagnation that comes from being a “stale reservoir” instead of a “flowing river.” When you stop sharing, you stop growing. God trusteth the soul that distribute His tidings with more revelations and more blessings.

Q3: How do I practically share the ‘Good News‘ this Easter Sunday?

Answer: You don’t need to be a theologian. Start with your personal “twilight march.” Tell someone, “I was worried about [X], but I took it to Jesus and He gave me peace.” Word of mouth saved Samaria; word of mouth will save your neighborhood.

VI. REFLECTION & PROPHETIC PRAYER

THOUGHT TO PONDER:

If the four lepers had stayed in the tents and said nothing, how many more children would have died in Samaria that night? Who is waiting for my “Good News” to stop their cycle of destruction?

PROPHETIC DECREE FOR APRIL 5, 2026:

I decree that your mouth is an instrument of national deliverance! Just as the lepers ended the famine of a city, your testimony shall end the famine of hope in your family. In this Easter season, I command every “Syrian host” of debt, sickness, and fear to flee from your camp! You shall not only feast; you shall be the one who brings the “Good Tidings” to the palace. I decree that by this time tomorrow, there shall be a supernatural turnaround in your situation, in Jesus’ Name!

PRAYER POINTS:

For Boldness: Father, let the “Leper’s Wisdom” rest on me. Help me to realize that I cannot stay where I am and survive. Give me the boldness to march toward my miracle.

For the Lost: Lord, as I share the Good News today, cause the “Samaritans” around me to hear Your voice and run to the Feast of Grace.

For the Nation: Father, just as You turned the economy of Samaria overnight, perform a miracle in our nation’s economy today.

For Gratitude: Lord Jesus, thank You for the Resurrection. Thank You for emptying the enemy’s camp so that I can eat and be satisfied.
