THE FUTILITY OF THE FORGE: WHY THEY CANNOT CURSE THE REDEEMED

I. THE ANATOMY OF AN UNWARRANTED ATTACK

As we step into the first day of April 2026, we must address a reality that many believers face: the presence of unseen hostility. Why does the world, or certain individuals, feel the need to place a curse, an enchantment, or a “limit” on another person?

The motivations are as old as time:

Envy and Malice: Seeing your progress reminds them of their stagnation.

Bitter Rivalry: The desire to “win” by pulling someone else down.

Financial Gain: In some cultures, people actually hire “spiritual mercenaries”—witches, wizards, or false prophets—to attack unsuspecting individuals for a fee.

However, for the child of God, there is a “No-Fly Zone” over your life. This devotional is a reminder that you are not a victim of anyone’s incantations. You carry a spiritual immunity that makes the arrows of the wicked lose their trajectory.

II. THE BALAAM PARADOX: GOD’S SOVEREIGN VETO

Our Bible reading in Numbers 23 brings us to the famous encounter between Balak (the King of Moab) and Balaam (the prophet). Balak was terrified of the rising power of Israel. He didn’t use a physical army first; he tried to use a spiritual strike. He hired Balaam to place a curse on the people of God.

1. The Divine Intervention

Balaam went, but he found himself in a spiritual “straitjacket.” Every time he opened his mouth to pronounce a curse, a blessing came out instead. He realized a terrifying truth for the enemy: You cannot override the signature of God. In verse 20, he confesses: “Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.”

2. The Futility of Enchantment

Verse 23 contains a foundational promise for your 2026: “Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel.” An enchantment is a spoken spell; divination is the seeking of secret knowledge to harm. God’s decree over the redeemed is so heavy that it crushes any “spell” cast against it.

III. DIVINE IMMUNITY: THE “CAUSELESS” CURSE

The Bible provides a scientific spiritual law in Proverbs 26:2: “As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.” For a curse to “land” on a person, there must be a “landing strip” of sin, legal ground, or broken covenants. When you are in Christ, the Blood of Jesus has cleared your landing strip.

The Cross Factor: Galatians 3:13 says Christ became a curse for us. Therefore, a curse cannot sit on someone who is already “covered” by the Ultimate Sacrifice.

The Spiritual Mark: You are “sealed” by the Spirit. When the enemy looks at you through his spiritual binoculars, he sees the “Ownership Mark” of the Most High.

IV. THE “INQUITY” FACTOR: KEEPING THE HEDGE INTACT

While divine immunity is a fact, it is not a license for spiritual laziness. The reason Balaam could not curse Israel at that moment is found in verse 21: “He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel.” At that specific time, Israel was in a state of alignment with God.

Sober Living: A believer who lives in deliberate, unconfessed sin is “breaking the hedge.” And Ecclesiastes 10:8 warns, “whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.”

Sensitive Spirit: You must remain sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Don’t “suffer as an evildoer” (1 Peter 4:15). If you are walking in the light, the darkness has no hook to hang its curses on.

V. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A: NAVIGATING SPIRITUAL WARFARE

Q1: What if a curse was placed on my family before I gave my life to Christ?

Answer: The moment you became a “New Creation,” the old legal papers were shredded. Colossians 2:14 says He blotted out the “handwriting of ordinances” that was against us. You are now part of a new lineage. You don’t “fight” the curse; you “enforce” your freedom in Christ.

Q2: How do I handle people who openly say they are ‘doing something’ against me?

Answer: Do not panic. Fear is the “bridge” that allows an enchantment to cross over into your life. Stand on Numbers 23:23. Your response should be: “You are wasting your time and your resources. I am blessed, and it cannot be reversed.”

Q3: Can a ‘Prophet’ curse me for not giving them money or following them?

Answer: Any “prophet” who curses is not of God. God’s prophets are messengers of His Word. If the Lord has not cursed you, no man’s words can stick. Return to your Key Verse: “How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed?”

VI. REFLECTION & PROPHETIC PRAYER

THOUGHT TO PONDER:

Is there any area of my life (bitterness, hidden sin, or disobedience) that is acting as a “landing strip” for the enemy’s arrows?

PROPHETIC DECREE FOR APRIL 1, 2026:

I decree today that you are Uncursable! Every tongue that rises against you in judgment is condemned right now. In this new month of April, every “altar” raised against your career, your marriage, and your health is set on fire! I decree that the “Balaams” hired against you shall be forced to bless you. You are moving from a place of “Defiance” by the enemy to a place of “Deliverance” by the Lord!

PRAYER:

O Lord, I thank You for the divine immunity I have in Christ Jesus. I stand on Your Word and free myself from every curse, enchantment, and divination of the enemy over my life. I close every door that has been opened through carelessness or sin. I declare that I am the Redeemed of the Lord, and it is futile for any power to defy me. I walk in the blessing that cannot be reversed. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
