MAKING YOUR BOAST IN GOD: THE STRATEGY OF SPIRITUAL CONFIDENCE

I. THE GEOPOLITICS OF THE BOAST

In the modern landscape of 2026, we see that the rhetoric of nations remains largely unchanged from ancient times. Recently, in response to rising threats from an Eastern European power, the United States issued a staggering rejoinder: they warned that if certain red lines were crossed, that country would effectively become “history on the world map.”

This is the “Boast”—a psychological weapon of war used to intimidate, demoralize, and establish dominance. In secular warfare, boasting is backed by nuclear warheads, GDP, and military alliances. But for the believer, boasting takes on a different, more powerful dimension. While the world boasts in what it possesses, the Christian is commanded to boast in Who possesses them.

As the Prophet Jeremiah admonishes, we are not to boast in our wisdom, our might, or our riches. Instead, “let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me…” (Jeremiah 9:24).

II. DAVID VS. GOLIATH: THE CLASH OF CONFIGURATIONS

Our Fire Scripture (1 Samuel 17:48–54) records the climax of one of history’s most famous “boasting matches.” Goliath’s boast was grounded in his physical dimensions and his state-of-the-art weaponry. However, Goliath made a fatal strategic error: his boast against David was actually a boast against God’s strategic agenda for Israel.

1. The Divine Errand Boy

David did not run toward the giant because he was a master of the sling; he ran because he was “God’s errand boy.” He understood that the battle was not between a shepherd and a giant, but between a covenant-keeping God and an uncircumcised intruder.

• The Weaponry: David proved that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves (1 Samuel 17:47).

• The Result: With a single stone, the “history” of the Philistine champion was rewritten. David didn’t just win; he spoiled the enemy’s tents and carried the head of the giant to Jerusalem as a trophy of God’s faithfulness.

2. The Ancestral Precedent

David’s confidence wasn’t new. He was drawing from the spiritual heritage of the Exodus. At a time when Israel had no standing army, no chariots, and no iron weapons, they defeated the superpower of the day—Ancient Egypt. God prosecuted a war of freedom using nothing but His “mighty hand” and “outstretched arm.” David knew that if God could handle Pharaoh, He could handle Goliath.

III. THE ANATOMY OF A HOLY BOAST

What distinguishes a “Holy Boast” from arrogant pride? It is the Source and the Subject.

1. The “Able to Deliver” Posture

Consider the three Hebrew men—Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego—before King Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 3:17). Their boast was precise: “Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us… and He will deliver us.” * They didn’t boast in their ability to endure fire.

• They didn’t boast in their political status.

• They boasted in the character of their God.

2. Relationship as the Foundation

You can only boast in someone you truly know. Psalm 34:2 says, “My soul shall make its boast in the LORD.” This isn’t a surface-level religious slogan; it is the overflow of an intimate relationship. Only those who “do know their God” shall be strong and do exploits (Daniel 11:32).

IV. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A: CALIBRATING YOUR CONFIDENCE

Q1: Is boasting in God the same as ‘claiming it and grabbing it’?

Answer: Not exactly. Making your boast in God is an act of surrender, not an act of demand. It is saying, “Lord, the situation is bigger than me, but I know You are bigger than the situation.” It is placing your reputation in His hands, rather than trying to force God to back up your own desires.

Q2: How do I boast in God when I am currently losing a battle?

Answer: The boast is most powerful in the “waiting room” or the “fiery furnace.” Boasting in God during a trial is called Faith. It is declaring His goodness before the breakthrough arrives. Like David, you “hasten and run toward the army” while declaring the victory before the stone is even slung.

Q3: Does boasting in God mean I shouldn’t use practical means (like medicine or lawyers)?

Answer: David used a sling—a practical tool—but his trust was in the Name of the Lord. You use the tools available to you, but you refuse to boast in them. You use the medicine, but you boast in the Healer. You hire the lawyer, but you boast in the Advocate.

V. THE STRENGTH TO BOAST

Are you strong enough in your relationship with God to boast in Him when you are in need? In this final weekend of March 2026, many are facing “Philistine” giants in their finances, health, or family life.

The secret to prevailing is to stop looking at the height of the giant and start looking at the height of your God. When you make the Lord your boast, you move the battle from the natural realm to the supernatural. You become an “errand boy” for the Almighty, and no giant can stand before a man or woman who is backed by the strategic agenda of Heaven.

VI. REFLECTION & PROPHETIC PRAYER

THOUGHT TO PONDER:

If my “sling and stone” fail today, will I still be confident? Or is my boast secretly in my own skills?

PROPHETIC DECREE FOR MARCH 28TH:

I decree today that every Goliath speaking against your destiny is silenced! I receive for you the spirit of “Holy Boldness.” In this year 2026, you shall not be intimidated by the threats of the enemy. Because you know your God, you shall be strong and do exploits. I decree that the same God who humiliated Pharaoh and decapitated Goliath is fighting your daily battles. Your soul shall boast, and the humble shall hear thereof and be glad!

PRAYER:

Oh Lord, my Strength and my Redeemer, I thank You that the battle is Yours. Forgive me for the times I boasted in my own wisdom or resources. Today, I lift my voice to boast in Your Name, Your Power, and Your Mercy. Send us help in our daily battles. Let the world see that it is not by sword or spear, but by Your Spirit that we prevail. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
