THE RHEMA STRATEGY: MARCH 2026 DEEP-DIVE
HOLLOW AND DECEPTIVE PHILOSOPHY OF MEN: THE BATTLE FOR THE CHRISTIAN MIND
MESSAGE BY: FOURSQUARE GOSPEL CHURCH IN NIGERIA
BIBLE READING: COLOSSIANS 2:6–12
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: JOSHUA 11–13; LUKE 4:1–32
KEY VERSE: “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” — (COLOSSIANS 2:8)
I. THE INTELLECTUAL AMBUSH OF THE LAST DAYS
As we navigate the specific pressures of Monday, March 23rd, 2026, we find ourselves in an era defined by the “Information War.” Never before has the believer been bombarded with so many competing worldviews. From the corridors of social media to the halls of modern academia, “New Age” ideologies, secular humanism, and “inclusive” reinterpretations of scripture are constantly challenging the simplicity of the Gospel.
The Holy Spirit, speaking through the Apostle Paul, issues a stern “Military Caution.” He uses the word “Spoil,” which in the original Greek implies being “carried off as a captive” or “plundered like a city in war.
The Warning: If you do not guard your mind, the philosophies of men will not just disagree with you—they will kidnap you. They will take your peace, your conviction, and your heritage in Christ.
II. THE ARCHITECTURE OF DECEPTION
To “Beware,” you must understand what you are looking for. Deception in 2026 rarely presents itself as “Evil”; it presents itself as “Progress,” “Tolerance,” or “Ancient Wisdom.” Scripture categorizes these into three distinct traps:
Philosophies and Vain Deceit: These are high-sounding intellectual arguments that look logical on the surface but are “hollow” because they have no life-giving power. They can explain your problems but cannot save your soul.
Traditions of Men: This refers to the “we have always done it this way” mentality. Cultural practices that contradict the Word of God often carry a weight of “duty” that traps believers in legalism or syncretism.
Rudiments of the World: These are the basic, elementary principles of a fallen system—the belief that you are a victim of your stars, your genes, or your environment, rather than a victor in Christ.
The Satanic Mastermind: We must remember that behind every “hollow philosophy” is a cunning architect. Satan is more intelligent than any natural man; if you try to argue with him on a human level, you will lose. You must fight from a higher ground—the ground of the Word.
III. THE ANTISEPTIC OF BEING “ROOTED”
The antidote to being kidnapped by philosophy is found in Colossians 2:6-7. Paul uses two metaphors: one from agriculture (Rooted) and one from architecture (Built up).
1. The Agriculture of Faith: Deep Roots
A tree with shallow roots is easily toppled by a new wind of doctrine. To be “rooted” means your spiritual “taproot” has gone deep into the person of Jesus Christ. This is achieved through:
-
Obedience: Doing what He says, not just hearing it.
-
Thanksgiving: An ungrateful heart is the first target for deception. Gratitude keeps you anchored in God’s goodness.
2. The Architecture of Faith: The Crucified Life
You cannot be “built up” on the foundation of your old nature. Romans 6:6 tells us our “old man” was crucified with Him. A dead man is unaware of his surroundings (Ecclesiastes 9:5).
The Spiritual Secret: When you are truly “dead” to your old self, the “traditions of men” lose their grip on you. If a man is dead, you cannot insult him, flatter him, or tempt him with “New Age” lies. Only as you remain “dead in Christ” can you truly be “alive in Him.”
IV. THE DOCTRINE OF COMPLETENESS
The greatest lie the enemy tells the believer in 2026 is that they need “Jesus PLUS something else.”
-
“Jesus plus this special tradition.”
-
“Jesus plus this new psychological hack.”
-
“Jesus plus this cultural ritual.”
Colossians 2:9-10 destroys this lie: “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him.” If you are “Complete in Him,” then you are not lacking anything. You do not need a “New Age” philosophy to find your “inner light”; you have the Light of the World dwelling in you. You do not need a “hollow philosophy” to understand your purpose; you are the workmanship of God created for good works.
V. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A: GUARDING THE HEART
Q1: How do I identify a ‘Hollow Philosophy’ when it sounds so good and helpful?
Answer: Use the “Christ Test.” Ask yourself: “Does this teaching lead me to rely more on Jesus or more on my own efforts/rituals?” If the conclusion of a philosophy is not “Christ is the Head,” then it is a rudiment of the world.
Q2: Is it wrong to study philosophy or science?
Answer: No. But you must study them as a Master, not a Slave. Daniel was trained in all the wisdom of the Chaldeans, yet he remained rooted in the God of Israel. Science and logic are tools; Christ is the Truth. When the tool contradicts the Truth, the tool must be discarded.
Q3: I’ve realized I have been believing a ‘lie’ regarding my culture/tradition. What do I do?
Answer: Colossians 2:12 speaks of being “buried with Him in baptism.” This is a public and private “cutting off” of the old life. Formally renounce the lie, ask for God’s mercy, and fill that space in your heart with the Word of God (Psalm 119:11).
VI. REFLECTION & PROPHETIC PRAYER
THOUGHT TO PONDER:
Have you ever been tempted to believe a lie because it promised a “shortcut” to success or peace? What was the “hook” the enemy used? Recognize that “Hollow” means there is no substance. Only Christ is Substantial.
PROPHETIC DECREE FOR MARCH 23RD:
I decree that your eyes are opened to see through the “Vain Deceit” of this age! Every “kidnapping spirit” that has tried to steal your conviction through hollow philosophy is rebuked. I decree that you are rooted, built up, and established in the faith. No New Age ideology or human tradition will “spoil” your inheritance. You are complete in Christ, and your wisdom in Him shall exceed the wisdom of the world in Jesus’ name!
PRAYER POINTS:
For Spiritual Discernment: Lord, grant me the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation. Help me to discern between the ‘traditions of men’ and the ‘Truth of God.’
For Rooting: Father, let my roots go deep into You. I refuse to be a shallow Christian. Build me up in Your Word so I cannot be moved.
For the Crucified Life: O Lord, help me to walk in the reality of my ‘death to the old nature.’ Let the rudiments of the world find no ‘handle’ in my life.
For the Church: Lord, protect Your Church in 2026 from the infiltration of false doctrines. Let Your Word be the final authority in our hearts.
