A REVELATION OF MERCY CHANGES WHAT YOU EXPECT FROM GOD

I. THE FOUNDATIONAL FLAW: THE TRAP OF SPIRITUAL STRIVING

As we navigate the middle of this first week of March 2026, it is vital to perform a heart audit on your relationship with the Father. Many believers struggle in their walk, not because God is unwilling to bless them, but because they are relating to Him from a flawed foundation.

Without a revelation of mercy, the heart unconsciously slips into striving. Striving is the exhausting attempt to:

• Earn answers through religious performance.

• Deserve divine help through self-righteousness.

• Qualify for favor through human labor.

The moment mercy becomes clear to your spirit, the pressure lifts. You realize that your standing with God is not a “pay-for-service” arrangement, but a “grace-given” relationship.

II. MERCY AS GOD’S FOREMOST ATTRIBUTE

Psalm 103:8 declares: “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.” It is a common mistake to view mercy as a “rescue package” God releases only when things go wrong. In reality, Mercy is His foremost attribute. It is inherent in His nature. He doesn’t just show mercy; He is merciful.

• Inherent Nature: It is who He is at the core.

• Generous Expression: It is “plenteous,” meaning it is an overflowing resource.

When you truly see God as inherently merciful, your confidence in expecting good things from Him is restored. You stop looking at your flaws and start looking at His character.

III. HOW MERCY HANDLES HUMAN WEAKNESS

The depth of God’s mercy is most beautifully revealed in how He deals with our “dust” nature. Psalm 103:10 reminds us that He does not reward us according to our iniquities. If God were a transactional Judge, none could stand. Instead, mercy acts as a divine intervention.

Just as a father tenderly cares for a child, God’s mercy removes transgressions and treats His children with affection and patience.” (Psalm 103:12–13)

The Shift in Perspective:

This understanding is critical because it reshapes how you interpret your journey:

1. Delays: You stop seeing them as rejections.

2. Mistakes: You stop seeing them as final disqualifications.

3. Silence: You stop interpreting God’s silence as abandonment.

Mercy is deliberately positioned to cover every stage of your journey, from the mountain peaks to the valleys.

IV. COMPREHENSIVE Q&A: RESETTING YOUR EXPECTATIONS

Q1: Does a focus on mercy lead to a “loose” lifestyle or spiritual laziness?

Answer: On the contrary. A true revelation of mercy produces deep, restful love. When you realize how much God has spared you and how much He loves you despite your “dust,” you find a new, joyful motivation to serve Him that fear could never produce.

Q2: How do I practically “rest” in mercy during a crisis?

Answer: It begins with your prayer language. Instead of presenting God with a “bill” of your good works, present Him with a “plea” of His mercy. Say: “Father, I don’t deserve this by my power, but Your mercy says I am Your child. I expect Your help today.”

Q3: Why does the Bible say in Romans 9:16 that it is “not of him that willeth”?

Answer: It means that while your will and your effort (running) are important, they are not the source of your breakthrough. Mercy is the engine. When mercy is involved, God always does more than enough.

V. REFLECTION & PRAYER SUITE

THOUGHT TO PONDER: Have I been striving to earn what God wants to give by mercy? How will my expectations change if I fully trust God’s merciful nature today?

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:

I decree that in this month of March, the weight of “trying to qualify” is lifted off your shoulders! I see the mercy of God opening doors that your effort could not budge. You shall no longer brace for disappointment; you shall live in the expectation of goodness. Because mercy is on your side, your future is secure!

PRAYER POINTS:

Foundation Reset: Father, I repent for every way I have tried to earn Your love. Today, I tear down the altar of striving and build my life on the foundation of Your mercy.

Restful Confidence: Lord, help me to rest in Your compassion. I refuse to be stressed in my prayer life. I come to You as a child, expecting good things.

Removing the Reproach: Father, let Your mercy remove every transgression and every consequence of my past mistakes. Let the ‘dust’ of my nature be covered by Your glory.

Permissions of Hope: By Your mercy, I give myself permission to hope again. I refuse to be cynical or afraid of the future.

Mercy’s Supply: Father, thank You because Your mercy is everlasting. I expect ‘more than enough’ in my health, my finances, and my family this month, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
