SCRIPTURE: “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” (1 Peter 1:18-19)
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: We are God’s creature, and we are His purchased possession.
I. THE THEOLOGY OF THE LITTLE BOAT
As we move into the tenth day of this new year, the Holy Spirit wants to anchor your heart in the reality of your identity. There is a moving story that illustrates the depth of our redemption—the story of a craftsman and his little boat.
This man spent countless hours in his workshop, meticulously carving, sanding, and painting a beautiful little boat. It wasn’t just a project; it was a piece of his heart. He used this boat with great joy, always careful to anchor it securely to the shore after every journey. However, one day, an unprecedented storm arose. The winds were violent, the waves were relentless, and the anchor rope was snapped. The little boat was swept out into the vast, dark ocean, lost to the sight of its maker.
The owner searched the shores for days, his heart aching for what he had created. Meanwhile, another person found the boat drifting far away. Not knowing its origin—or perhaps not caring—they sold it to a local dealer. The dealer placed it in a shop window with a price tag on its hull.
One day, while walking through the market, the original creator saw his boat behind the glass. He rushed inside and claimed it. “This is mine!” he told the shopkeeper. “I made it with my own hands.” But the shopkeeper replied, “I understand, but I paid for this boat. If you want it, you must pay the price I am asking.”
The creator did not argue. He went back to his workshop and labored night and day until he had earned the exact sum required. He returned to the shop, laid down the money, and carried his boat home. Hugging it close, he whispered, “Little boat, I own you twice. First, I made you, and now, I have bought you.”
II. THE DUAL CLAIM: CREATION AND COVENANT
This story is the perfect summary of the Gospel. You must realize that God’s claim on your life is a “Double Claim.
1. Ownership by Creation
God is your Architect. He “knit you together” in your mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13). He breathed His own life into your nostrils. By the right of creation, you belong to the Almighty. However, like that little boat, humanity was swept away by the “storm of sin.” We were lost in the “vain conversation” of our fathers and found ourselves displayed in the “shop window” of the devil, under the price tag of death and condemnation.
2. Ownership by Redemption
God did not look at our lost state and decide to just “make another one.” He had an emotional and spiritual attachment to you. But to get you back, He had to satisfy the legal requirements of justice. The devil had a claim because of the “anchor of sin” that was broken.
God did not use “corruptible things like silver and gold” to buy you back. Those things are too cheap for the value of a human soul. Instead, He used the highest currency in the universe: The Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. On the Cross of Calvary, Jesus paid the price to satisfy every claim. Today, God looks at you and says, “I own you twice. I created you in My Image, and I redeemed you by My Blood.”
III. THE TERMINATION OF ILLEGAL CLAIMS
Because you are “God’s purchased possession,” the devil has no legal right to lay a claim on your life, your health, your family, or your destiny.
Redemption means that every “illegal transaction” that occurred while you were lost in the sea of the world is now null and void.
- If the enemy is claiming your health through a generational sickness, the Blood says, “Paid in Full!”
- If the enemy is claiming your peace through ancestral altars, the Cross says, “Transaction Terminated!”
The sacrifice of Christ was a “Divine Rescue Operation.” You are no longer on the “open market.” You are tucked away in the secret place of the Most High. The price paid for you was too high for God to allow the devil to vandalize His property.
IV. THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE REDEEMED
Understanding that you are “bought with a price” (1 Corinthians 6:20) should change how you live. You are not your own. You cannot live according to the “dictates of the flesh” or mingle with the “children of the devil.” If you were a masterpiece that someone paid billions for, you wouldn’t allow yourself to be covered in mud. You are the “Hephzibah” of God—His delight is in you.
As we engage the spiritual atmosphere of 2026, walk with your head held high. You are not a “drifting boat” anymore. You are anchored in the Blood.
ASSIGNMENTS
Forensic Rejection: Violently reject every claim of the enemy. Speak to the devil: “I am twice-owned! You have no receipt for my soul!”
Holiness of Ownership: Refuse to let the “vessel” of your body be used for anything that dishonors the One who bought you.
Study the Blood: Get deeper understanding of the Atonement. Know your rights as a purchased possession.
PRAYER
Lord, I thank You for the privilege of being Yours. Thank You for not giving up on me when I was lost in the storm. I recognize that I am Your creature and Your purchased possession. I declare today that the devil has no part in me. I am covered, sealed, and protected by the Blood of the Lamb. Every illegal claim over my health, my finances, and my family is broken now in Jesus’ Name. Amen!

AMAZING FACT: Most ants have blurry vision, but they are great at motion detection. Just as they stay alert to movement, you must stay alert to the movements of the enemy, knowing that your Forehead (your mind) is marked by the Light of God!
PROPHETIC DECLARATION: I decree that every claim of the enemy over your life is shattered today! You shall walk in the liberty of the redeemed in Jesus’ Name!
