SCRIPTURE: “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19)
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Our sonship in God positions us naturally for supernatural power.
I. THE SPIRITUAL LEGALITY OF SONSHIP
One of the greatest assets available to any child of God on earth is a deep, unshakable understanding of the powerful privileges we possess in Christ. In the physical realm, it is an established fact that whose son you are determines the level of privilege, access, and protection you enjoy.
Consider the royal family in England: a child born into that lineage is born into a pre-determined reality of royal privileges. They do not worry about financial security or personal safety in the way a commoner might, because the institution of the Crown stands behind them. Similarly, in an African village, the child of a dreaded witch doctor is often treated with extreme caution. People give way when they see him coming, not because of the boy’s own strength, but because of the dark power they associate with his father. He can walk with a swagger, asking, “Do you know whose son I am?”
How much more, then, should the child of the Most High God walk with confidence? You are the son of the King of kings, the Lord of lords, the I AM that I AM, and the Governor General of the Universe. You belong to the family of the ageless, die-less, weariless, tireless, and limitless God. Our sonship in God positions us naturally for supernatural power. John 1:12 makes it clear: “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God.” God does not have a powerless child. Whether you are currently utilizing that power or not is a matter of discovery and activation, but the position for power was granted the moment you were born again.
II. THE ANATOMY OF THE ENEMY: SERPENTS AND SCORPIONS
In Luke 10:19, Jesus specifically mentions “serpents and scorpions.” To walk in dominion, we must understand what these symbols represent in the spirit realm.
1. Deception (The Serpent’s Mind)
The serpent first appeared in Genesis as a deceiver. This means God has given you power over the forces of manipulation. In 2026, you are not permitted to be a victim of “blindness” or “scams” in the spirit. You have the power to see through the smoke and mirrors of the enemy.
2. Danger (The Serpent’s Presence)
The snake represents a threat that causes people to flee. Where there is a serpent, there is an atmosphere of fear. But your mandate is to change the atmosphere. Instead of you running from the danger, the danger must flee from you.
3. Disease (The Serpent’s Venom)
In Numbers 21:4-9, we see the serpent associated with physical affliction. Even today, the medical profession uses a staff with a serpent as its symbol. The “Power to Tread” is the power to walk over infirmity, sickness, and every plague the enemy tries to inject into your family.
4. Death and Sudden Pain (The Scorpion’s Strike)
The serpent is a killer, and the scorpion represents unforeseen, sudden strikes that bring excruciating pain. This represents “accidents,” “sudden bad news,” and “unexpected tragedies.” The promise is that nothing shall by any means hurt you.
III. THE DYNAMICS OF “TREADING”
What does it mean to “tread”? This is not a passive stance; it is an aggressive, intentional action.
Dominion: It is the power to dominate the forces of deception, danger, disease, and death. You are the one in charge.
Decimation: To tread means to decimate and decapitate. It is the power to break the head of the enemy’s agenda.
Subjection: It is the power to bring the enemy under total control. In the same way a master controls a beast, your sonship allows you to put a hook in the nose of Leviathan and lead him where you will.
Absolute Safety: Treading implies that while your feet are on the enemy, his fangs cannot reach your skin. You are operating from a height that is far above principalities and powers.
IV. ACTIVATING THE MANDATE FOR 2026
You cannot tread if you are cowering in fear. Dominion responds to boldness. This year, you must refuse to bow to the whispers of darkness. Whether it is a threat to your health, your career, or your children, remember whose son you are. You carry the DNA of the Resurrection.
ASSIGNMENTS
Enforce Your Rights: Every time you sense the “hiss” of the serpent (deception or fear), speak the Word of God loudly.
Corporate Enforcement: Join the Commanding the Day Mid-Night Prayer tonight at 11:00 PM GMT+1. Use that hour to enforce your dominion mandate over the month of January.
Refuse Fear: Study the “Power to Tread” until fear becomes a stranger to your vocabulary.
PRAYER
Lord, I thank You for the legal privilege of sonship. Thank You for the power to tread. Today, I set my feet upon every serpent of deception and every scorpion of sudden pain. I decree that nothing shall by any means hurt me or my household this year. I walk in absolute dominion and supernatural safety, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
